MATT SCOTT MATT SCOTT joined Fox 61 in 2013 and brings more than 20 years of broadcasting experience to the Fox 61 weather team. Originally from New York City, Scott attended the University of Maryland and Mississippi State University. He has spent the last 11 years working as a meteorologist in Connecticut, previously at News12. In addition he has worked in West Virginia, Mississippi, Charlotte and Boston. His work has been nominated for Emmy Awards many times. When he’s not on air, he’s online. Scott has won awards in the New Haven
Advocate, the Hartford Advocate and New Haven Living magazine for his social media influence on Twitter (@themattcast and @tvmattscott), Facebook (facebook.com/ themattcast) and Instagram (tvwxman). But his two biggest accomplishments are at home, his two children. When he has a little spare time and is not sleeping, Scott loves to cook, play golf, play poker and read. He would probably be a better chef, a stronger golfer, a smarter poker player and a more accomplished reader if he could pry himself away from Facebook once in a while.

“Tireless advocate and committed to community.” “I hope 40 holds success for my career and joy for my family, but I won’t speak to that here. Forty promises opportunity to improve my community. I’ve spent the last 10 to 15 years serving my community, from sitting on the Monroe Board of Finance to chairing the Norwalk Zoning Commission to mentoring children. Forty presents the chance to build on that service and help improve the education provided to students – including my daughter – here in Norwalk and to use my legal and zoning experience to ensure my community’s growth is well-planned and executed.”

“I try to emulate the leaders who have impacted me.” “My life began when I made the conscious decision to be happy. I found happiness with my amazing family and knew it was equally important to find that same happiness in my work life. I wanted to work where I was giving back and be somewhere that shared my values on family. Professionally, I’ve found a home and a place where I can apply the things I’ve learned throughout my fundraising career. I’m able to do what I love for people who appreciate it, with an amazing team and it’s making a difference in kid’s lives. What’s better than that?”

“All of the great people at Charter in addition to the success of my team members.” “I’m not sure I believe that life begins at 40, but do know that I’ve been fortunate to have people more experienced than me to serve as examples and mentors throughout my career. Whether they knew it or not, they were people I looked up to. I hope that when I’m 40, I can use my experiences to be in that same position for someone just starting out.”

Finding the balance while leveraging true support in all I do will be key. What will 40 hold for me you might say? Purpose. Nothing is better than finding a purposeful thing to do. Something that will make a defining impact on another person's life. The root for my purpose will be continued passion. Looking at 40 gives me the opportunity to showcase it on a larger scale. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR J.P. MORGAN PRIVATE BANK 100 W. Putnam Ave., Greenwich
“I enjoy what I do and I am lucky to work with a great team.” “I was an art history major in college and wasn't particularly interested in financial markets. That developed over the next five years when I was a fundraiser for Harvard University, working closely with its endowment. When I was 27 I made a plan to go to business school and follow through on my newfound interest. I can't believe how well it has worked out. I now find myself in a very rewarding job, working with a great team of people, engaged in a community that I truly enjoy. Hopefully the path to 40 continues along the same trend. On a personal note my wife and I are blessed with a smiley, 3-year-old son. If he's still smiling when he's seven and I'm 40, I will be quite happy with that.”

My dreams and aspirations feel endless and turning 40 will just be the next chapter of my life to fulfill my next level of goals, including becoming a partner of my firm and continuing with my education and developing my professional and leadership skills. I hope also to be able to continue giving back to my community as well as helping to mentor and develop the up-and-coming generation of the next 40 under 40.”

Our ability to access and utilize information should be the greatest asset of our era – one we should all take complete advantage of in order to create a more meaningful and just world. FROM YOUR TEAM AT
HEALING. REIMAGINED. We’re building more than a new hospital. We’re changing the way people think about their health. Healing. Reimagined. It can mean many things to many people. A philosophy, a point of view, a point of difference, a challenge, an inspiration. At Stamford Health, we believe it is all of those things. We believe that to heal is to make whole. To look not only at disease or injury, but more broadly at the complete person and his or her physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Here, taking care of people involves providing the absolute finest care across the entire continuum—from prevention and wellness to diagnosis, treatment and ongoing support. We are a caring partner, not only in sickness, but also in health. It is the interaction of mind and body. It is all that we are and will be. It is Healing. Reimagined.

“Pushing the envelope to grow. In personal career growth as well as company specific roles, I am constantly looking to drive change for the best possible outcome. Creating a plan and bringing together the right people to get it done.”
“To me, 40 represents the time to take risks and conquer challenges that were once just lofty dreams, both professionally and personally. Professionally, I want to continue practicing law in a thriving and successful firm while being challenged and learning something new every day. It will also be a time in which I can further combine my personal interests and professional goals and take on more exciting investment opportunities. Personally, I hope that I will have the opportunity to spend time travelling the world and dedicating more time to causes that give me personal satisfaction like the Special Olympics.”
“Each day is what you make of it. I never take an 'I can't' attitude. I truly believe that everyone has the potential for greatness, but it is what you do with that concept and the attitude you take to get there. As my life and career progress, I am driven to always keep an entrepreneurial spirit. It is the mindset to never settle and to see an opportunity that did not exist. Whether I am a leader in a large corporate company or a small start-up company, I will always bring an entrepreneurial spirit that I hope breeds creativity and innovation.”

But as I look forward, I’m ready to build my roots in Connecticut and make a meaningful difference through my long-term investment in the state. SENIOR MANAGING DIRECTOR NEWMARK GRUBB KNIGHT FRANK 680 Washington Blvd., Stamford
“Every day I show up at work prepared to WIN for myself and my team.” “When they say life begins at 40, I believe that by that age you ultimately have the skill set necessary to achieve an elite level of success in your chosen industry. It remains up to the individual to go out and apply what they learned in their 20s and 30s. My business philosophy has always been to maintain a high level of integrity and work harder than my competition. I have been fortunate enough to grow my business in commercial real estate in a market that has been anemic, at best, in job creation. I look forward to new experiences, both professionally and personally and years of continued success, travel and adventure in my 40s and beyond.”

“Highly motivated and driven, integrity, community involvement, exceed expectations.” “When I started at CONNECT Computer we had eight employees. In a little under two years we have significantly grown our book of business, acquired a company and now have approximately 25 employees. Within the next five years we plan on being the best IT managed services provider in the Northeast and I'm proud to be a part of the culture we have built and what personal and professional growth opportunities the future holds.”

MANAGING DIRECTOR, CHIEF OF STAFF AND HEAD OF GLOBAL EXTERNAL AFFAIRS POINT72 ASSET MANAGEMENT 72 Cummings Point Road, Stamford
“I've been blessed with great people colleagues who are smarter than I am and are willing to challenge me.” “The world continues to change. During the next decade, we'll see a period of transformation in our national economy and workforce as automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning reshape the markets. It will be an arms race for talent – great, creative minds who embrace technology to benefit businesses and philanthropy. There will be winners and losers and it will likely come at us as a society faster than most people anticipate. With these changes, my commitment to life-long learning and staying ahead of the curve in technology and evolving business models will be more important than ever. Even if I'm half right – it promises to be a wild ride.”

JON THOMAS CEO/FOUNDER TAP CANCER OUT 1274 Salvia St., Stratford
“Founder and CEO of Tap Cancer Out.” “I'm a terrible predictor of the future. Five years ago I wouldn't have believed you if you told me that Tap Cancer Out, an organization nurtured in the slivers of spare time between my full-time jobs as an advertising strategist, husband and father, would have raised nearly $500,000 for cancerfighting organizations by 2016. So if I had to guess the impact Tap Cancer Out would be making five years from now, I'd surely be wrong. All I know is that I'll continue to strive to be the change I wish to see in the world.”

“I would attribute being chosen as a winner to the leadership qualities that I have exhibited in my work and in the community.” “With respect to my professional career, I envision myself as a partner at Murtha Cullina LLP with a thriving, fulfilling and wellrespected legal practice. Outside of my professional career, I envision myself as an active member in the community, particularly with respect to those charities and causes that have touched me personally and shaped the person I am. Overall, my hope is that at whatever age I am happy with my life decisions to that point with as few regrets as possible and that I am always looking forward to what life brings next with the same eagerness and determination that has gotten me to where I am today.”

“I’m different from the norm.” “As Hunter S. Thompson said, 'Buy the ticket, take the ride ...' I have no idea what life holds for me, but that's what's exciting. I love the thrill of the unknown. I don't want to know where I'm going to be 10 years from now; where's the excitement in that? I simply want to wake up every morning, spend my days doing fun things, meet interesting people and, in some weird way, making a lasting mark on the world.”

"By challenging mediocrity, I strive to enhance the lives of my patients and my community." "Beyond 40, I will continue to enjoy the pursuit of opportunity and forge new paths. I will embrace life’s challenges, learn from them, and be resilient. I will set no limits and strive to live beyond expectations, with my patients and my community being the benefactors of my successes. As a lifelong learner, I will strive to evolve and improve as a person and a surgeon. During this period of volatility in healthcare, I will encourage our caregivers to engage in the lives of our patients and to maintain humanism and integrity while serving them. There will be no greater satisfaction than restoring health in those who entrust their lives to me."

THE KENNEDY CENTER was founded by the late pioneering Evelyn Kennedy who had the vision to believe in the potential of all people. This year marks the 65th anniversary of The Kennedy Center. We are forever grateful for Evelyn’s keen judgment, exceptional fortitude and early leadership. Since then, our internationally accredited, nonprofit, community-based rehabilitation organization has grown from serving 50 individuals with intellectual disabilities to now serving more than 2,400 with various disabilities and special needs. There are
many achievements to celebrate during the past six decades. We were the first to open a group home in Connecticut for men and women with intellectual disabilities, and the first to offer travel training and caring for the caregivers who promote independence both to our clients as well as to their families. Most recently, we were the first to open a day program for individuals with a dual diagnosis of dementia/intellectual disabilities and the MDAC multifaceted arts program. The Kennedy Center prides itself in providing affordable, innovative, quality program
services to individuals with disabilities and special needs, from birth to senior years. Founded in 1951, we operate 30 community experience programs, 16 group homes, an industries program composed of six businesses, supported and competitive employment and job placement services, a family support and respite service and a variety of children’s programs. All of us can say, “I Am The Kennedy Center” because strong community support is vital to our success. Visit www.thekennedycenterinc.org for more information or call 203-365-8522.
