Remember The Watermill Theatre
By Leaving A Gift In Your Will
PROTECT THE WATERMILL THEATRE’S
Artistic Heritage From our beautiful riverside home on the outskirts of Newbury, the Watermill Theatre creates some of the most innovative and outstanding productions in the country. The scope and volume of our work continues to touch the lives of many people and we are widely regarded as one of the most admired and influential regional theatres in the UK. Producing high quality theatre is our passion and sharing our work with those in our local community and further afield, drives us forward. We are a small theatre with big ambition. We aim to create lifelong memories that you and your family and friends will treasure. Whether it’s seeing a show that takes your breath away, taking part in an inspiring youth theatre workshop or being involved in a regular community activity, we aim to Create, Entertain, Inspire and Involve. To ensure our productions, outreach and education work can be enjoyed by generations to come, we rely on the generosity of people like you, our wonderful supporters, to help care for the theatre’s future. If you have made, or are considering making a Will, please think about leaving a gift to the Watermill Theatre.
“It’s just amazing, standing on that stage and thinking Wow, I’m actually doing this!” Youth Theatre Participant
Once the needs of your family and friends are met, a gift left in your Will is a wonderful way to continue your tradition of support. By committing to our future, you will provide generations to come with an opportunity to experience the same joy the Watermill has given you over the years. A gift from you will help every aspect of our work and no matter how big or small, your legacy will make a huge difference. Your support could help the next generation of theatre-makers, including directors, actors, designers, choreographers, musicians, playwrights and stage management professionals. Or you could help us to take our productions out on the road, to theatres up and down the country, to rural locations, into London and on stage in school settings. Or perhaps you would like to help us extend our reach by supporting our access performances. This may include sign integrated performances and captioning for D/deaf audience members, touch tours and audio described performances for those with a visual impairment or relaxed performances for audiences with autism, dementia or learning disabilities. All of this is possible with a little help from you. We would greatly value a gift that is flexible, which allows us to direct your support where it is needed the most, but should you wish to support a specific area of work, we would be happy to discuss your preferences.
Keeping
theatre alive
Leaving a legacy to
The Watermill Theatre The Watermill Theatre is a UK registered charity which means your gift will be exempt from inheritance tax. If you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, your estate could also benefit from a reduction in the rate of tax, and therefore the amount of any inheritance tax you have to pay. Whether you are drafting a Will for the first time or updating an existing Will, you will need to decide what type of gift you would like to leave to the theatre. We recommend that you seek advice from your financial or legal adviser. A residuary gift is where you choose to leave a share or the whole of whatever is left in your estate once you have provided for your loved ones. A cash (or Pecuniary) gift is where you choose to make a gift of a fixed amount of money, for example £10,000, to Watermill Theatre Ltd. The value of pecuniary legacies will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases. A specific legacy is where you choose to leave a particular asset to Watermill Theatre Ltd such as property, shares or personal possessions.

“I was very nervous about having to speak in Assembly but I remembered what Lizzie said. I stood in ‘drama neutral’ and all my nerves turned into one big loud voice, and I did it!” Theatre Skills Workshop Participant
