Our Mission

At WealthBuilders, we believe that God gives us the power to get wealth. This isn’t for our own comfort; rather, it’s so we can put our resources towards His plans and purposes. WealthBuilders exists to teach people how to build wealth so that they can use that money to bless their families, communities, and world. There needs to be more discussion and discipleship around the topics of generosity, stewardship, and financial peace. Our goal is to teach you how to master your money so that it serves you–not the other way around.

How to Become a Kingdom Investor

Dear Reader,

What does God have for you in 2023? That is the question I am praying about as I write this letter to you. Throughout my life, God has shown me that every season is pregnant with purpose. In retrospect, I realize that God used seemingly slow and unproductive seasons to form my character— the very thing that would carry me in more outwardly fruitful seasons. Hebrews 12:2 encourages us to “run the race set before us.” The Living Bible Translation says, “and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us.” God has a unique plan for your life. Becky and I hope this magazine empowers you to run the particular race that God has for you in the year to come.

For some of us, it will be a year of preparation and planning. For some, it will be a season of rest, and for others, it will be a time of heightened productivity. You may have heard it said that the right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing. People often become impatient and try to advance to the next season before they’re ready. They try to jump right into their full destiny, which is like giving a 10-year-old the keys to the family car. They couldn’t handle it.

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

WealthBuilders Founders Billy and Becky Epperhart

Let’s say you try to start a business in a season meant for rest. Forcing productivity at the wrong time is a recipe for frustration. It will cause you to burn out before God brings you to a season meant for productivity. God orchestrated the universe, and He has intentional timing for the events in your life, too. Hebrews 6:12 says that we inherit the promises of God through faith and patience. We must balance acting in faith and waiting with patience.

Many years ago, I heard a minister say that everyone goes through three primary phases of life: the discovery phase, the productivity phase, and the wisdom phase. The structure of this magazine will reflect each phase:

1. Discovery Phase: You actively learn who you are and where you fit. In this phase, you acquire knowledge and invest in yourself.

2. Productive Phase: In this stage, you turn your knowledge into understanding through experience. It’s a time of productivity and accomplishment as you grow into your God-given gifts and talents.

3. Wisdom (or Transformative) Phase: You desire to give back and pour into other people. You have learned through experience and want to use your resources to positively transform the world.

These phases aren’t necessarily linear. You could be experiencing them in different areas of your life simultaneously. For example, you might be a newlywed who is in the discovery phase when it comes to marriage. However, when it comes to the career side of your life, you could be an entrepreneur who is in the middle of their productive phase. It is beneficial to mentally organize the areas of your life with these respective phases because it helps you know where to give yourself more grace and where to challenge yourself more.

Colossians 3:15 instructs us to let the peace of Christ rule our hearts. The Greek word for rule is brabeuō, and it translates “to be an umpire.” Our prayer for you is that you would let the peace of God call the balls and strikes in your life. May peace dictate whether you swing the bat or wait for another pitch.

The 4 Stages of Turning Dreams to Reality

It’s easy to have a dream, but it’s much harder to bring it to pass. Having a vision is only the first part. There are steps that must be taken to turn our dreams to reality. Here’s the thing–when you are given a vision from God, it’s always going to be bigger than what you can do on your own. It takes faith and perseverance.

In this article, you will learn about the four stages that occur in the process of turning dreams to reality. An awareness of these stages will help you persevere when the journey isn’t easy. My hope is that you will understand how to transform your vision from an ethereal hope into an actual, tangible reality. Luckily, success follows a formula!

Here’s a breakdown of the four stages:

Dream, Distress, Develop, & Demonstrate

1. Dream: This is the idea formation phase—otherwise known as the exciting part. In this stage, you begin to have a vision for something that God wants to accomplish in your life. There’s always high motivation immediately after you receive a dream. When that revelation is fresh, it can feel like the sky is the limit.

Even though you’re excited, oftentimes, your skills don’t match the requirements to bring that dream to fruition. The beauty of this stage is that you have unconscious incompetence. This is a blessing in disguise because if you realized how incompetent you were to turn your dreams to reality, you might never begin in the first place.

What: Your Vision How: Your Method

When: Your Timing (You may get a vision years before God intends you to run with it!)

Who: Your Team (When God gives you a dream, he has a team prepared. You need certain people around your table that will help you steward your dreams.)

When You’re in the Dreaming Phase, You Discover Your What, How, When, and Who:
My hope is that you will understand how to transform your vision from an ethereal hope into an actual, tangible reality.

2. Distress: Don’t be discouraged—after you’ve made it through the distress phase, you will have the necessary strength to turn your dreams to reality. Fulfillment doesn’t come easy, and every good thing goes through a period of testing.

In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus refers to the ‘good soil’ as those who “hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)

In this stage, you move from unconscious incompetence to a conscious incompetence. To put it another way, you know you’re not qualified for the job. You realize the difficulty of the task at hand and wonder what you got yourself into. This usually results in some kind of fear.

At its core, fear is deceptive. It tries to steal the vision or Word God has given you. You may question if you ever even heard from God. People who abandon their dream in this stage fall prey to the same fate as seeds who fall on the ‘bad soil’ in the Parable of the Sower. As for them, Jesus says, “And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away.” (Luke 8:13)

You must make it through the time of testing, even when feelings of failure and rejection goad you to quit. When you have a dream from God, you are going to hit some resistance. Being prepared for resistance is half the battle. Then, when you work through the hardship, gain the strength to persevere until you succeed.

DISTRESS

Positives Challenges

- More courage and passion! When you choose to dig your heels in and persevere through hardship, passion develops. Passion is a gift from God, and it carries us through.

- Affirmation of God’s vision for your life

- Favor and divine appointments because you’ve settled it in your heart that you’re going to see your dream through to the end

-Wisdom and peace

- Resistance prompts you to look for models, mentors, and coaches that will help you step into the next stage with ease and fewer mistakes.

After You go through Distress, You will gain an understanding of what you need to develop to reach the next level.

- After distress, you have a better picture of your constraints. God has given you strengths and constraints. Leaning on others helps you overcome your constraints, and it promotes unity in the Body.

- Constraints could come in the form of skills you don’t have, past experiences or failures, a lack of resources, or even family members and friends.

- When entrepreneurs start a business, they often do it by themselves. At first, they must fill a lot of roles. That can be a constraint because they need to develop the willingness to let others partner with their vision in order to scale up. If you don’t work with others, you can cap your business sooner than God intended, or you can burn out.

3. Develop: After you go through distress, you will gain an understanding of what you need to develop to reach the next level. In this stage, you get knowledge, skill, and wisdom to overcome your restraints. You’ll partake in activities like developing a plan for funding, connecting with people and systems, bolstering your education and skill set, and looking for a mentor in the industry. At this point, through intentionally overcoming your constraints, you reach the point of conscious competence.

4. Demonstrate: This is a stage of enjoyment! Your vision is now reality, so your focus is now about how to improve and refine. At this stage, you are a model and mentor for others. And the icing on the cake is that you really start to see results! Better yet, you will have developed unconscious competence. This means that you don’t have to think about what you’re doing every moment of the day. Your craft has become natural for you. You have learned and developed in such a way that you no longer have to agonize over every step, so you can better flow wherever the Holy Spirit leads you to go. You may not even be aware of the degrees of influence you have.

It’s easy to have a dream, but it’s much harder to bring it to pass.

Coming to a Screen Near You… WealthBuilders T.V.

WealthBuilders TV is a weekly program designed to encourage you with biblical wisdom on the topics of leadership, personal growth, and spiritual formation. During the latter half of 2022, we were hard at work recording and preparing material to bless your faith, family, and finances.

We chose to do our first program about God’s favor. It is a concept that has truly transformed every aspect of our life! In fact, favor is the key to walking in fullness. In John 10:10 Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly,” and we want to live from that truth!

First and foremost, our prayer is that this material would strengthen your faith. Secondly, we hope that this program, as well as others on WealthBuilders TV, will show you how to be blessed so that you can be a blessing.

We are hard at work recording and preparing material to bless your faith, family, and finances.

We hope that this program, as well as others on WealthBuilders TV, will show you how to be blessed so that you can be a blessing.

Produce

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8:18

“Your economic security does not lie in your job; it lies in your power to produce – to think, to learn, to create, to adapt. That’s true financial independence. It’s not having wealth; it’s having the power to produce wealth.” --Stephen R. Covey

Produce: to bring into existence [by intellectual or creative ability]; to create economic value; bring crops, goods, etc. to a point at which they command a price.

The Productivity Phase is when you apply the knowledge you gained in the previous phase to real world experiences. It’s time to make career, business, and finance moves! This is the point in your wealth building journey where your focus should shift from earned income to passive income. So, in this section, you will read about financial freedom and a program that can help you reach it via real estate investing.

What is Financial Freedom?

Technically speaking, financial freedom is the point where passive income from investments exceeds expenses. When you are financially free, you don’t have to work a job if you don’t want to. Your investments pay you enough, so you can devote your time and resources to anything you’d like. As Christians, financial freedom expands our capacity to contribute toward efforts that further the Kingdom of God.

Now, let’s say that you don’t have any investments. For you, financial freedom seems far away, if not impossible. Fortunately, we can have a financially free attitude regardless of our bank account. Financial freedom is also a mindset free from worry. Jesus spoke about this often:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matthew 6:25-27)

The Bible warns against the love of money a lot. However, most people only think about the danger it presents to wealthy people, not those scrounging to make ends meet. On the contrary, Jesus knew that worrying about money is a major way people become a slave to it. Finances can easily consume your thoughts and energies.

You can break money’s hold over your life through biblical wisdom and proven financial principles. As a result, you will be free to serve God with all your heart, mind, and strength!

Transform

“Your

Matthew 6:10

“I spent the first half of my life making money and the second half of my life giving it away to do the most good and the least harm.” –Andrew Carnegie

Transform: To change in form, appearance, or structure; metamorphose. The Wisdom, or Transformative Phase, is all about sharing your resources to make a difference.

In this phase, you seek opportunities to use your experience to positively transform the world. This is the point in your wealth building journey where you are able to use your money to help transform society in a way that reflects the culture of Heaven. In this section, we share a few stories about how some of our friends are impacting the world with their finances. In addition, we will show you how you can do the same through Tricord Global and/ or WealthBuilders Investment Services.

Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

Who We Are & What We Do

Tricord Global provides microcredit (small loans) to aspiring and active entrepreneurs in developing nations. Currently, most of Tricord’s work is in Uganda, where it is very difficult to acquire a loan for less than 30% APR. The job market is scarce, which pushes many people into entrepreneurship. Additionally, there is economic persecution against Christians. Most banks won’t issue loans to churches. In result, Christians have a big need for business training and accessible capital.

So, we did something about it (and you can, too.) Tricord raises capital from investors in the United States and distributes it via bank partnerships in those countries. It’s a win-win opportunity. Investors earn a 4-8% return. Entrepreneurs in developing nations receive the hand up they need to build wealth. It’s the difference between giving a man a fish and teaching a man to fish.

OUR MISSION OUR PLAN

To inspire and equip others to make sense of making money for making a difference for the purpose of transforming individuals, cities and nations.

Our Vision

To empower one million entrepreneurs globally by providing business training and the start up capital needed to build Christ centered enterprises throughout the world.

By providing training and capital to active and aspiring entrepreneurs in developing nations, we will empower them to break the cycle of generational poverty. This interruption of the poverty cycle will enable their families, cities and nations to be transformed.

“The money we received has really helped us as a church. Everyone is enjoying the land–especially the children. Life is good.”

Every year, Tricord Global investors make it possible for thousands of entrepreneurs and

Uganda to start and scale their organizations. Tricord works with local Christian lending institutions in Uganda: Glotrans Financial Services, Glory SACCO, and JENNIS Finance. Here are two social impact success stories from those lending institutions and their loan clients this year:

Kiyosyme Glorious: Glorious is a business woman who sells produce in the Kasubi Market in Kampala, Uganda. She specializes in foodstuffs such as onions, bananas, watermelons, and other fruits. Glorious approached Glotrans Financial Services with the goal of expanding her business.

She used her first loan ($142) to purchase more product, paid it off swiftly, and took out another loan of $284. Before Glorious found out about Tricord and Glotrans, her working capital (current assets - current liabilities) was $54. Today, her working capital is upwards of $850. At the time of our interview with her, Glorious was an expecting mother and grateful for the opportunity to scale her business.

“I thank Tricord in partnership with Glotrans Financial Services for coming up with a way to get loans and grow our businesses,” Glorious said.

Pastor Semugabi Jimmy: In Uganda, economic oppression towards Christians is pervasive. It is difficult, if not impossible, to acquire loans for church land. Pastor Semugabi Jimmy of Miracle Revival Church experienced this first hand when he tried to borrow funds to expand the church. The local bar wanted the plot of land next to their church, and without Tricord Global, they would have gotten it.

pastors in

“As churches, we have a problem with banks,” Pastor Semugabi explained. “We keep our money with them, but when it comes to accessing loans, they don’t want to lend to us. One bank refused to lend us money and said, ‘We don’t lend to Pentecostal churches.’”

After several rejections from banks and credit unions, he found out about Glotrans Financial Services from another pastor. They issued Pastor Semugabi a loan, and now the church and local community is reaping the benefits. The church provides free education to impoverished children. While they finalize building plans, the kids use the land as a soccer field and gathering place.

Tricord raises capital from investors in the United States and distributes it via bank partnerships in Uganda.

How to Become a Kingdom Investor

As we head into 2023, Christians in western culture are faced with governmental, social, and educational conflicts that are opposed to the teachings of Jesus Christ. At WealthBuilders Investments, we believe there is a mandate to become more conscious of how we manage our personal finances and investments. It is time for Christians to rise up and utilize their resources in a way that aligns with the life and teachings of Jesus.

People might make a conscious decision not to make purchases at Starbucks or Target because of certain social positions those corporations hold. That is a good decision to make. However, it is equally (if not more) important to discuss where your investment dollars go. For example, buying a latte at Starbucks is a single transaction. However, purchasing stock in Starbucks is a form of ownership in the company itself. Ownership infers more responsibility.

Over half of the corporations that make up the S&P 500, the largest stock index in the U.S., have taken on anti-Christian initiatives. Financial advisors and Wall Street want your money, but they fail to provide education on how public corporations can violate your beliefs.

So, one of the primary values at WealthBuilders Investments is to create Kingdom Investors. A Kingdom Investor is someone who uses their wealth to make a cultural impact in the name of Jesus. They invest in companies and causes that echo Jesus’ prayer, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10) How does this work on a practical level? Well, at WealthBuilders Investments, we apply a Biblical worldview to diverse types of resources. Together, like-minded wealth management, tax, and law professionals create a financial investment plan that empowers you to build wealth and steward it well.

Financial advisors and Wall Street want your money, but they fail to provide education on how public corporations can violate your beliefs.

3 Strategies for the Christian Investor

1. Biblically Responsible Investing

A BRI portfolio avoids investing in companies that support causes contrary to a biblical worldview such as abortion, human trafficking, media censorship, and lgbtq+ activism.

2. Pro-Values Investing

A Pro-Values portfolio engages investments that promote religious freedom, pro-life, pro-family, and the greater good of society in alignment with the ethics of Jesus.

3. Kingdom Impact Investing

A Kingdom Impact approach promotes investments that advocate for philanthropy and global transformation through exemplifying the great commission and the spread of the gospel.
