Dr. Ming Truong and Dr. Quoc Le met while attending dental school at New York University College of Dentistry in 2004. This is where they fell in love and pursued their careers as dentists. They now reside in Texas where they practice dentistry. Since Quoc is originally from Washington and Ming from California, they wanted the beauty of Hawaii for their destination wedding. On May 7, 2011, close friends and family gathered together to celebrate the love of this happy couple. The wedding was not only about the celebration of their love but also the love of all of their friends and family. The wedding was held at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu where approximately 60 close friends and family were in attendance. Their photographer Casey Jay Benson, who they now consider a close friend, captured all of these wonderful moments on camera.

Mitchell Myers graduated as an officer from West Point Academy. After graduation, it is common for new officers to quickly marry, as West Point Cadets are not allowed to be married while in training. The weekend after he graduated, Mitchell and Katy were married at the West Point Cadet Chapel with the reception at the Historic Thayer Hotel. Katy’s bridal portrait was created by Donna Cummings Photography in Tyler before the wedding day. The Donna Cummings Photography team of friends spent a few extra nights in Manhattan touring the city after the wedding.

Matthew Longar had more than one reason to be excited to be graduating from West Point Academy. The weekend after he graduated, he and Jessica Robison were finally married at the West Point Cadet Chapel. (West Point Cadets are not able to be married while they are in training.) Jessica’s bridal portrait had been taken in Tyler by Donna Cummings Photography and was displayed at their reception at the West Point Officer’s Club. Donna Cummings Photography team was also able to enjoy a few nights in Manhattan following the wedding.

BREAKFAST iN BED - EASY OMELETS BY CHARLOTTE TAYLOR
| THE WEDDED BLISS SEPT-OCT 2012
Making breakfast for the love of your life is a great way to start the day. Whether you want to make your mate feel extra special or just spend a lazy weekend in the kitchen together, breakfast is a great place to start. The sky is the

limit when thinking of breakfast ideas. It doesn’t mean just pancakes or biscuits anymore. Lots of things have changed since I was a new bride. Gone are the days of standing over a greasy skillet to fry bacon. Did you know you can bake it?! And gone are the days of just one spouse slaving away in the kitchen. Guys and gals alike are perfectly capable of cooking anything. One breakfast food that has pretty much stayed the same through the years is eggs. Fried, poached, scrambled, baked or in a casserole, eggs have stayed the course. Eggs have never really been my first choice for a breakfast food, but make an omelet out of them that is full of cheese, and all of a sudden I’m all about eating eggs for breakfast! Omelets are a great, easy and impressive breakfast (or dinner) idea. If you can scramble eggs, you can make an omelet. Please do not be intimidated by the thought of making an omelet. Sometimes we get a bit put off by the way food looks and automatically think, “I can’t do that.” But in reality, it’s all about presentation, isn’t it? If the omelet tears when you are sliding it out of the pan, no fear, just disguise the blemish with a dollop of sour cream or salsa. No one will ever know unless you tell them. The whole idea here is to not be so scared of cooking that you don’t try anything. Please do not be scared, but confident. So, let’s have a lesson in omelet making. First of all, you do not need an omelet pan! A good sauté pan is ALL you need. Any round non-stick sauté pan will work as long as it’s a pan between 6 and 10 inches. Next, think about what your favorite breakfast-y flavors are. Sausage, bacon, ham, turkey, cheese, mushrooms, onions - you can pick and choose your favs and have a made-to-order breakfast any time you make an omelet.

BY VON CRISWELL
Dear Von,
| THE WEDDED BLISS SEPT-OCT 2012
1
I recently attempted to dye my naturally brunette hair blonde and have ended up with broken, reddish hair. My wedding is in November and I’m desperate to have my long, healthy hair back. Is there any hope for me? Carolina - Tyler,TX
Dear Broken & Brittle,

A BEAUTY ADDICT’S INPUT ON MAKE UP, STYLE & WELLNESS
Every gal I know has experienced a hairmare at some point in their lives. Although your timing is particularly dreadful, there are several things you can do to bring your hair back to life. Hair healing will not be instantaneous, but with commitment and creativity, you are sure to have beautiful hair when the time comes for you to walk down the aisle.
PICK A PROFESSIONAL Judging by the results of your blonde ambition, I’m guessing you attempted this drastic hair color change at home. It is now critical to trust your hair to a licensed professional. Ask your friends, family, or strangers who have healthy looking hair who their stylist is and make an appointment for a consultation. Consultations are usually free and give you an opportunity to determine if the stylist can meet your special needs. Find a specialist who works with a quality line of hair products and ask to see pictures of their work. This doesn’t have to be the same person who will style your hair on your wedding day. You need someone who will create and execute a plan for hair recovery that will probably involve a cut, corrective coloring, and several deep conditioning treatments over the next few months. FEED YOUR HAIR Changing your diet may not give you instant results, but there is no substitute for good nutrition when it comes to healthy hair. Start with a healthy scalp by making salmon, sardines, and flaxseed, all full of Omega-3 fatty acids, part of your daily diet. Vitamin C deficiencies have also been linked to weak hair so counter this with citrus fruits, strawberries and even broccoli. Beef up your protein intake with fish, beans and nuts.
Vitamin A protects against dull, dry hair. Sweet potatoes, carrots, kale and butternut squash are great sources of this vitamin and will help heal your damaged locks from the inside out.
KEEP IT COOL
While you are in recovery, stay away from the blow dryer, flat iron or any other form of direct heat. Get creative to find ways to style your recovering hair. The internet is a great source of alternative ways to achieve looks such as volume and curls without heat. Explore new styling products to create a look you love without compromising your hair health.
FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT If Dolly Parton isn’t willing to loan you one of her wigs, extensions are a great option if your heart is set on long hair. Find a service provider that specializes in extensions and again, ask to see pictures of their work. Have the extensions put in a few months before your wedding. This will allow you to experience the extensions and determine if this is the right option for your big day. CREATE A DIVERSION In addition to bridal stores, the internet is bursting at the modem with unique accessories for your wedding day. Wow your guests with your strong fashionista flair and keep the attention off your stressed tresses. 1.) This unique lace cap is a throwback to the 1920s. Shown here with long hair, this piece would also be the perfect pairing for a modern pixie cut. (www.etsy.com/shop/deLoop)

BRINGING MUSIC TO LIFE ON YOUR SPECIAL OCCASION
| THE WEDDED BLISS SEPT-OCT 2012
ELEANOR BOYD OF EVERGREEN STRINGS SHARES WHY CREATING BEAUTIFUL MUSIC IS MORE THAN JUST A BUSINESS.
28
“We are sharing our musical talents and abilities that God has given us to bless others.” Eleanor assures that there are enough players experienced with the group that it is possible to provide quartets in two locations on the same night. “Now, when prospective clients call and ask if we are available for a certain date, I always say ‘yes!’ and then I start calling players,” she added with a smile. Evergreen Strings isn’t just a business, Eleanor added. “The members and I have said that when we stop having fun and playing weddings becomes just a ‘job,’ we will quit. Over the years, we have acquired people in our group who are pleasant, positive, easy to work with in addition to being experienced professional players, and we enjoy that,” she said. “It’s also very rewarding to have someone say ‘The music was exactly what we had envisioned. We were very satisfied. We will recommend you to others.’ ” Evergreen Strings, first and foremost, strives to serve people with a spirit of excellence in providing music for their event and also to meet clients’ needs and desires as much as possible. They have certain standards that are maintained: There’s a formal dress code so that they look good as well as sound good. They act as ladies and gentlemen wherever they go. They arrive at an event an hour before they start playing. And they use contracts for both the clients and musicians so that all parties agree to certain terms Brides can obtain their best service by giving them as much notice as possible before their wedding date. For your big day, make it even more special by calling on Eleanor and Evergreen Strings.

he cello leaned against her shoulder as Lisa Lininger effortlessly bows its strings to release a hypnotic melody. As her fingers moved along, slow sounds from a viola and two violins made their way into the tune of “One Hand, One Heart.” The quartet looks on as, across the room, the bride and groom take to the dance floor for their first waltz as a married couple. “We all enjoy what we are doing,” said Eleanor Boyd, one of the quartet members. “We are sharing our musical talents and abilities that God has given us to bless others.” Eleanor and three friends – Thalia Jones, Sherry Paetznick and Lisa Lininger – make up the string quartet Evergreen Strings. Based in the East Texas area, the foursome, who all play in symphony orchestras provides live music for weddings and other special occasions. Just using strings alone, the quartet can provide sounds from a violin, cello, viola, harp, and guitar. Outside the string family, they have talents with the accordion, trumpet, flute and piano. Eleanor explained that about eight years ago she was approached by a friend who was looking for a group to play for her daughter’s wedding. “At the time, three ladies (fellow string players in the symphony) and I had been getting together to play quartets for fun,” she added. “So, I told my friend that I could supply a group for her and our quartet was formed.” After Evergreen Strings made their debut, the ball started rolling for them through recommendations and repeat customers. They advertised some and played an occasional bridal fair to get their name out to the music-loving public. “Playing the bridal fairs gives us good exposure to the wedding market and other events. I appreciate the opportunity for people to actually see and hear us play, then they know exactly what they are getting,” Eleanor said. Since the women of Evergreen Strings live in several different East Texas locations, it sometimes can be difficult to get them all together to play for a prospective client. Through the years, it has been necessary to use many different string players, and

are filled with rich colors contrasted with a simple elegance. Whether you’re walking down the aisle inside a beautiful church or under the blue bright sky, the hues of the season set a great backdrop for your big day. Embrace this time of year by including rich textures and luxurious accents when deciding on a style. To help ease the uncertainty of the perfect Autumn look, Steve Sluder and Emily Laird – with help from Jo Ann Owers of Brides and Belles in Tyler - have put together a few looks that you’re sure to fall in love with.
FALL WEDDINGS
FUN & FLIRTY THE HAIR Steve flat ironed the model’s hair, then sectioned the top into a horseshoe shape and back combed. He combed the sides into the center back and pinned it with large bobby pins. He brushed the top section out with a flat boar bristle brush, smoothing only the ends into the center of the back. Using firm hair spray to hold, he used spray shine to amplify radiance. Finally, using a chamois, he roughed up her hair line around her face for a slightly worn finish.
THE MAKEUP Emily used a purple tone on the model’s eyelids and brushed a gold on top to highlight them and give her lids a touch of shimmer. On her lips, Emily used a pink lip stain and chose a gold gloss to top it off. The look was finished by adding a little pink blush to the apple’s of the model’s cheeks.
THE DRESS This tea length sweetheart neckline gown has a fitted waistline accented with satin and tulle flowers which are enhanced with rhinestone and pearl centers. A full circle skirt of tulle is detailed with five satin bands around the bottom which form a ribbon detail throughout the skirt. THE DETAILS: Maggie Sottero Gown RD-1105; En Vogue crystal and pearl earring and necklace set; Helen’s Heart purple taffeta peep toe pump; Brides and Belles of Tyler (bridesbellestyler.com)

THE HAIR To get this

smooth style, Steve stepped back in time to create a true 1940’s feel. First, he divided the model’s hair into three sections going left to right using a radial part while working with her natural part. He then took a curling iron and curled each section’s ends under. After each end was curled, he took large curlers and secured each section into duckbill clips on top of the model’s head. Once cooled, Steve released the curls from the clips and finished the look with a flat boar bristle brush and used spray shine to amplify the radiance of her hair.
THE MAKEUP For this look, Emily used earthy tones to bring out the model’s natural beauty. “The model had beautiful hazel eyes that were deep set, so I highlighted her eyes using a nude color on her entire lid,” she said. Emily then used a defining color on the outside of the eyelids only, allowing the model’s eyes to look more wideeyed and fresh. She added a deep color to the crease of the lids — bareMinerals Queen Tiffany — and bareMinerals Nude Beach to finish off the lids. Emily chose to create a classic red lip, completing this show-stopping look.
« THE DRESS This rich, form-fitting gown is a white taffeta mermaid beauty carried exclusively at Brides and Belles of Tyler. The ruched-fitted gown is enhanced by a corset-tied closure, creating the perfect fit for the blushing bride. The sweetheart neckline is complimented by beautiful rhinestone drop earrings. A ruffle accented by a rhinestone encrusted applique at the fitted hip line secures the pleated skirt which flows into a chapel trail. THE DETAILS: Bonny Gown #037; Sassy South earrings; AA Bridal feather and rhinestone headpiece Brides and Belles of Tyler (bridesbellestyler.com) THE FLOWERS » This stunningly vibrant autumn bouquet features a fresh assortment of red roses, mini green hydrangea, mini flame calla lilies, purple lisianthus, yellow LA hybrid lilies, hot pink celosia, and hypericum berries. by curling the model’s entire head of hair with a medium to small curling iron. He then wrapped her hair around the barrel, keeping the clamp closed while holding the ends with his fingers to give an unfinished look. Next, he wrapped the back section of the model’s hair to her nape and secured it into a low barrel curl. He touched up the curls on the sides, wrapping small pieces of hair around bamboo sticks, and then used a flat iron to add a whimsical touch. He used hair pins to secure random curls and let others fall around her face. The model shook her hair out at the root to add the tossed look.
THE MAKEUP Emily kept the model’s eyes a bit more understated for this look. “My rule when applying makeup is to focus on getting one area to really pop. This prevents the makeup from being overpowering.” Emily kept the model’s eyes less dramatic for this whimsical fashion. She added a light rose color to the cheek bones and a touch of pink blush on the apples of her cheeks. Emily also applied mascara only on the top of the model’s lashes. “This kept her eyes from looking small and closed in,” Emily explained. For eye liner, Emily applied it to the outside half of the model’s lower lash line and halfway across her top lid, winging the wand slightly upward at the ends of the lashes. “I applied a nude lipstick, with a gold lip gloss, and darkened her eyes in the crease with a rusty orange color,” Emily added. “I then brushed her face lightly with my bronzed brush and gave her a sun-kissed glow to finish it off.”

Casey Clanahan and Tyler Griffith’s families had always known each other since they live in such a small town. They became friends through their sisters and over the years developed a friendship. In 2005 Tyler asked Casey to prom and that is where the love started! They were inseparable all throughout high school and attended prom together each year. After high school, Tyler attended Texas A&M University while Casey went to Nacogdoches to Stephen F. Austin State University. Even though they were miles apart, they would always make time for each other. Tyler and Casey would go to Aggie football games and Rangers’ baseball games. Despite the distance between them, they were able to stay together. After both of them graduated college, Tyler decided he was ready to ask the girl of his dreams to marry him. He planned the proposal for weeks and the couple was scheduled to see each other for Valentine’s Day weekend but an unfortunate event occurred and Tyler was forced to cancel. After several attempts at rescheduling the weekend of March 3 found the couple in Dallas at beautiful Reunion Tower. They watched the sun set and had an amazing dinner. After
their meal, Tyler said he had another surprise. Tyler had pre-arranged to have a Dallas venue rooftop for the night. It overlooked downtown with an amazing view. Casey walked in and found lit candles on each side of the stairwell. They followed the candlelit path up four floors and stepped onto the rooftop. Tyler had brought a duffle bag and when he opened it, he pulled out a bottle of wine and two glasses. After a few minutes, Tyler said the fireworks show was about to start and for Casey to walk over by the balcony. He told her not to turn around until he said so. When he was ready, he told Casey to turn around and when she did, he was on one knee and was asking Casey to marry him. Casey said “of course” she said yes! Tyler had even hired a photographer to capture one of the best moments of their lives. It was an amazing night they will both never forget. Tyler and Casey celebrated their 7 year anniversary in May and Casey says she is more than ready to become Mrs. Tyler Griffith. Their wedding is scheduled for December 1, 2012.

ChriStina DulwEbEr and StEvEn morriS Christina Dulweber and Steven Morris met while attending college. Steven sweetly helped Christina finish a very difficult paper over an all-night study session at the campus library and the two became a couple. On August 22, Steven’s 21st birthday, the couple had plans to go to Shreveport to celebrate. The night before, when Steven was dropping Christina off at her car, he asked her to get out of the car and made a special point to hug her, asked her if she trusted him, to which she answered “yes, with her life!” He then instructed her to wear tennis shoes and clothes she didn’t mind getting dirty in and that he would see her at 5:00 am the next day. Christina was excited and puzzled but agreed. The next morning the couple left for Shreveport eating breakfast in the car on the way. Steven asked Christina if she could guess what they
were doing and she asked, a hot air balloon ride? When they passed the airport, Christina says her suspicious were confirmed. They took care of the necessary paperwork and watched as the balloon was being blow up. Christina says she was very nervous. But as they lifted off, she quickly realized it was not as scary as they thought and they drifted along in the sky and enjoyed the pretty scenery. Half way through the ride their pilot asked Steven for his camera. Christina figured he knew some cool shots from up in the sky. Steven and Christina were hugging and enjoying the view and she noticed his heart racing. Steven then slipped his hand into his pocket and then asked Christina to turn around and began saying the sweetest things she had ever heard. She then figured out what was going on and when he finished talking he got down on one knee, told her he had something to ask her and pulled out the ring. Christina says she screamed in excitement, and said yes!
