Planning a special event, like a wedding, usually requires guests to RSVP. Whether it’s in card form, digital, or over the phone, it’s important to know who will attend. Only then can decisions on things like seating arrangements and food preparations be made. Luckily, we live in a time of ease and there are a variety of tools you can use to keep track of your RSVPs. Read on for 3 wedding hacks that will help you do so with as little stress as possible.
1. Create a Master Guest List
Creating a master guest list is one of the best ways to keep track of the RSVP cards that start coming in through the mail. To do this, you can either create your own spreadsheet in Excel or Google

spreadsheets (bonus for using Google is that your list will be saved in the cloud so you can access from anywhere) or use a guest list manager. If you want to build your own spreadsheet, include slots for guests’ names, addresses, phone numbers, meal preference, yes/no response, and plus one info. Next, write the number listed by each guests’ name (the spreadsheet cell number) on the RSVP card. This method comes in handy when someone forgets to write his or her name on the card or the writing is illegible. 2. Make it Easy for Guests to Respond Let’s face it – people are busy…and sometimes lazy – so the easier and more convenient something is, the better. To keep follow-up calls to a minimum, make it easy for your guests to RSVP by including a pre-addressed envelope and proper postage. This allows the guest to check a box and pop it in the mail. Easy peasy! You could also include

7 COST-SAVING TIPS FOR YOUR WEDDING BY CASSANDRA KEY
Going into debt as a newly married couple probably isn’t high on your bucket list. In fact, I’m willing to bet it’s not on there at all! But saving money on your wedding is definitely something you’d like to do. The average American wedding costs upwards of $35,000. That’s a lot of cash! But don’t think for a minute that spending less than average means your wedding won’t look and feel beautiful. You can have a celebration that suits your style, as well as your budget. Here are 7 cost-saving wedding tips that will keep you and your wallet happy.

3. Skip the sit down meal. Sit down dinners are usually more expensive than a brunch or lunch reception. And although brunch
the food served (quiche, bacon, toast, etc.) costs pennies compared to something like filet mignon. If you want an evening reception, consider food trucks, BBQ, or a potluck for a more casual, affordable menu option. 4. Offer a limited bar. Open bars are one of those things that couples (and guests!) love having available, but the costs can add up quickly. You can please your nearest and dearest, as well as your budget, by offering a bar that’s limited to wine, beer, and a signature cocktail or two. Alternatively, you could offer wine, beer, and champagne for toasts. 5. Cut a small cake. The more layers and adornments your wedding

Scones! CHARLOTTETAYLORCREATES.COM
BY CHARLOTTE TAYLOR | PHOTOGRAPHY BY LAUREN LABOYTEAUX
Where have you been all my life? You crumbly layers of goodness filled with cheese, fruit, or whatever suits my fancy. Slathered in butter and jam. Pure deliciousness! Why does a scone look so much like a biscuit
you say? Scones and biscuits are quite similar actually. Generally a little sugar and an egg are the only things that differentiate the two, but this is not always a hard and fast rule. Biscuits are American, scones are British, some would say. Again, details, details, details. There are no definitive answers really. Are we really that concerned with the differences? Lets just enjoy the goodness! We might even call our scones glorified biscuits to calm things down. Because we all know here in the South, we love us some biscuits. The fun part about scones though is, the add-ins. As many variations as your mind can imagine. They are also easy and oh so perfect for a sweet, savory or anytime snack. With tea, with coffee or just simply for breakfast. For visual effects, another perk of the almighty scone is they can be cut into any old size or shape you’d like. The traditional triangle wedge, round biscuit shape, bite size or meal size. It matters not. The hardest part will be deciding which flavor to start with. For our focus here, we have chosen our

two favorites, Jalapeño Cheddar and Lemon Rosemary. These were made like traditional biscuits which involved the whole 'cutting in of the butter’ thing (i.e. HomeEconomics 101), but they can certainly be done in a food processor which makes for a much easier time of it.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Jalapeño Cheddar Scones
· · · · ·
3 1/2 cups flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 sticks butter, cut into small cubes 1/3 pound sharp cheddar cheese, cut into small cubes
·
1/2 cup jarred jalapeño slices, roughly chopped
· · · ·
1/2 cup heavy cream 1/2 cup milk 1 whole egg 1 tablespoon jalapeño juice from the jar
WHAT TO DO: 1. Preheat the oven to 400. 2. In a large size bowl, sift in the flour, butter and using a pastry cutter, incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles small crumbs (or use a food processor). Add in the cheddar and jalapeño slices and toss to coat. 3. In a separate bowl, combine the cream, milk, egg and jalapeño juice. Mix well. Pour over the flour/butter mixture, stirring gently until the dough comes together. Mix will be a little crumbly. 4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and use your hands to press into a rough rectangle shape. To keep from sticking, sprinkle with flour (as needed) and roll to about an 8x16 size rectangle, or about an inch thick. Using a serrated knife cut into about 15 squares. Then cut each square in half diagonally to create 30 small triangles. 5. Transfer to a baking sheet, coated with non-stick spray. Bake 14-17 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

5 REASONS TO HAVE AN UNPLUGGED WEDDING BY CASSANDRA KEY
them to turn on the in-camera flash. But if a guest doesn’t know any better and starts snapping away with their flash on, it can interfere with the photographer’s camera and create a washed out photo. 3. Released Photos If wedding guests are taking photos and aren’t told not to post them until they have your blessing, you might see photos everywhere from Instagram to Facebook. The problem is that you don’t know what a guest’s photos look like and some of them may be completely unflattering. And if you want to keep any aspect of the wedding a surprise, letting guests leak their pictures can ruin first look moments. With all of the time you’ve spent planning your wedding

you’ll want your friends and family to see the best of the best photos. 4. Ringing Cell Phones It happens to the best of us. We forget to turn off our cell phones and it starts ringing or buzzing right in the middle of something important. This annoying interruption is definitely not something you want happening
Amanda Elizabeth
As big as social media and digital devices are in our lives, it’s no surprise that people want to capture every moment, and especially the big ones. Weddings for example. Many couples are finding their guests hidden behind screens and sometimes worse – blocking the photographer’s camera, resulting in awkward and ruined photos. It’s great that friends and family want to capture and share your big day, but it can also cause more problems than it’s worth. Here are 5 big reasons why you should ask your guests to “unplug” from their devices and plug into the moment. 1. Blocked Images Like I mentioned above, guests, in their excitement to snap photos of the first kiss or the bride walking down the aisle, can actually hinder the professional photographer’s job. A professional wedding photographer knows the perfect places to stand and the angles she needs to get the best photos, but if an unsuspecting guest jumps into the aisle or otherwise blocks the photographer’s view, a couple can end up with photos like the one below. Ack! 2. Washed Out Photos Just as a guest can block the photographer’s view, a snap-happy
the moment you walk down the aisle or during the vow exchange. 5. Distracted Guests The last thing you want

to see at your wedding is a sea of screens. You invited your nearest and dearest for a reason – so they could be a part of one of the most special days of your life. If guests bring cell phones and tablets, they’ll feel obligated to record and capture all the wedding moments, which means you won’t see their faces. Plus, having electronics present creates distraction and what you really want is for your family and friends to actually be present, without their devices. There are a few kind and graceful ways you can let guests know you’re having a tech-free celebration: • Include it in your invitation • Note it in your wedding program • Set up an entrance sign • Have the flower girls carry a sign
the controlled lighting environment
• Ask the officiant to make an announcement before the ceremony
with their phone and camera flashes.
Ultimately, having an unplugged
