Ryan Alford and Mary Catherine Damon met 3 years ago while they were both attending Stephen F. Austin State University. Throughout their years at school and participating in collegiate organizations, their friendship blossomed into a loving relationship. About two years into dating they started talking about getting married. Mary Catherine says they never went to look at rings, but Ryan knew exactly what she wanted. She "patiently" waited for him to pop the question, and decided to stop thinking about it, knowing it would happen in its own time! Ryan always realized how their families were an essential part in their relationship and so he knew that they needed to be incorporated into the proposal. In the middle of May, following an exciting graduation ceremony from nursing school, there was a graduation party held for Mary Catherine. A photographer was there to capture the exciting moment of both families celebrating graduation, not knowing an engagement was soon to come. After taking pictures, the photographer asked to get photos of just Ryan and Mary Catherine. Mary Catherine remembers Ryan giving her a big hug, pulling her close, and giving an amazing speech while pulling out a beautiful ring. He then asked her to be his wife. The proposal was something Mary Catherine had never dreamed of and everything she could have asked for. She said it was the greatest moment of her life!
