THEME AND DETAILS – Lush Greens + Pink

Chia Ee: “Our wedding colours were white, gold and green, so baby’s breath, wheat and leaves were a must! We also got fairy lights and some candles to create a dreamy, starry ‘sky’.” This couple’s choice of venue was crucial.They wanted an indoor venue that could feel like it was outdoors, and Awesome Canteenat Sekeping Victoria, Penang, had exactly the right ambience. The tall trees surrounded by the unwashed concrete walls were perfect, and thanks to some gorgeous contrasting neutrals, everything turned out beautifully, especially with that giant pop of pink courtesy of their aisle-turned-backdrop.

We had always dreamt of having fairy lights – it's simply magical and dreamy – and to exchange our vows under the lights was everything we wanted.

CEREMONY

Cosy and heartfelt, the gathering of the newlyweds’ nearest and dearest ensured that it was a ceremony befitting their love for each other. Everyone was touched by their exchange of vows, as well as the exchange of rings as a physical symbol of their promise to each other.

More than just an aisle, the couple’s choice also connected to the backdrop, with a beautiful verse on love from the Bible printed on it. Surrounded by white, gold and green hues, the bright stripe was an uplifting and refreshing touch.

RECEPTION

Finally, the fairy lights, candles, and textures such as wheat, wire cages, green leaves and foliage everywhere, certainly set the mood for the bride and groom to celebrate their union with their family and friends. There were slight hints of gold to add glitz to an otherwise relaxed affair, and the couple also played the trendy “shoe game”, using leaves for the groom and flowers for the bride instead of shoes.
