Amidst a global pandemic, uncertainty appears to be more prevalent in our world than ever before. As human beings, we crave security and certainty. Our brains are constantly making predictions about what we are feeling, what we see, and what possible threats there are to our safety. Our ability to calm ourselves down is often influenced by the threat disappearing or knowing what is going to happen next. This pandemic is showing us that the threat is yet to disappear. Life can change very suddenly, and unpredictably! This can leave us feeling powerless. We want a sense of control over our lives. Remember, our brains are not used to this! Many of us are finding ourselves and other people behaving in unpleasant ways. The goal right now isn’t to like each other, it’s to love each other. We are all going through a lot. Let’s empathise and connect. It’s much more likely to get us through. For many, Christmas is a difficult time. Especially in a pandemic. Each year, Picabeen gives Christmas hampers to members of our community who are in need. We cordially invite you to please consider donating items for our hampers. Donations of frozen meals Guidelines: Provide a label on the container containing the frozen meal with:• the name of the dish • a full list of ingredients used and • best before date Meals must be in freezer-safe containers.
