Dear Parents, Welcome to another great year of Westminster Summer Camps! We are pleased to offer many options that allow children and teenagers to enjoy the great outdoors without leaving Atlanta, as well as a full slate of specialty camps that let our campers discover or deepen their interests in a variety of skills and hobbies. Favorite camps like Summer Day Camp, Arts and Science Camp, Sports Camp, and theatre and robotics camps are back! We also have some exciting new camps for your campers to try. See the next page for a listing of all of our new camps. If you are new to Westminster camps, welcome! CampMinder will be your digital home for all things summer camp! Please log into CampMinder to register for camps. Please upload your child’s immunization form and a recent photo and complete the health history section so we can best serve you this summer. For families with children who registered last summer or have attended Summer Camps before, return to your CampMinder account using your login. A few additional notes
Before care is available from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. for $50 per week at the summer day camp, 3255 Nancy Creek Road. Sign up through your CampMinder account under additional options. Campers will travel to their camps via bus or walking with a counselor. (Note: Cubby Camp before care is at Tull Hall). After care is available from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for $75 per week at the summer day camp, 3255 Nancy Creek Road. Sign up through your CampMinder account under additional options. Counselors and staff will transport campers to summer day camp, where parent pickup occurs by 6:00 p.m. Be sure to pack a snack and swim suit. (Note: there is no after care for Cubby Camp). Lunch is provided for all full-day campers. However, if you would prefer to pack a lunch, feel free to do so. It must be NUT-FREE. Refrigeration is not available.

Introducing New Camps for 2022! Astronomy
Are you interested in outer space? Do you look up at the nighttime sky and wonder what’s out there? Well then you might want to sign up for an out of this world astronomy camp! Campers will learn about the planets, stars, constellations, galaxies, nebulas, comets, and so much more! The campers will learn to use a telescope to view the stars at night, build and launch a model rocket, and eat like an astronaut among other fun activities! We hope you join us on our interstellar journey this summer!

Improv
Do you enjoy acting out stories you make up in your head or making people laugh? Or are you shy and looking for an opportunity to gain the confidence to present in front of a group? Improv might just be the best camp option for you! This improv class will focus on warm-up connectivity games that will sharpen your attention skills and assist you when working in a group. We will also give you an opportunity to use your own creativity to generate interesting stories you can act out with friends! No prior performing experience is required. Just come and be yourself and we’ll take it from there!

Challenge Island Week 7: Option 1: Slime-topia: an ooey, gooey, squishy, squashy, slippery, stretchy slime-drenched camp extravaganza! Learn the science behind the slime while you make at least 10 different kinds of addictively playful polymer— from butter to bubble, crunchy to munchy, fluffy to floamy, unicorn to color-changing—we’ve got you and your tribe covered (in slime, that is!). Option 2: World Cruise Camp: Set sail for imagination and adventure with this World Class camp! You and your first mates will design a cruise ship and embark on a voyage around the globe. You’ll engineer your way through the world’s most popular ports: Alaskan Glaciers, Ancient Greece, the Canals of Venice, to the Caribbean Islands. See you on the Lido Deck for our Sail Away Party and STEAMtastic High Seas Adventure!
Week 8: Option 1: Frostbitten Camp: Glide on over to the coolest camp in town where you’ll take a STEAMtastic journey through Challenge Island’s Winter Wonderland! Your Icy adventure will include designing and decking out your very own ice palace and using cool science to make frosty slime and frozen treats! This cool-as-ice camp is a not-tobe missed adventure for every frostbitten fan! Option 2: Mine Island Camp: Grab your pickaxe and dig into the most exciting summer camp on the block. We’ll swap computers for creativity and keyboards for ingenuity and imagination as our STEAM-sational tribes teleport into action-packed Mine Island™ hotspots. You’ll build shelters, create crafting tables and go mining for materials—and be sure to watch out for those pesky mobs!

Week 8: Early Scientists (PreK–1): Is your Early Learner full of questions about how the world works? Then this camp is just for them! Join STEM Velocity this summer as we explore nature like biologists, run experiments like chemists, observe the stars like astronomers, measure our world like geologists, and understand the human body like physicians.
Early Mathventurers (PreK–1): Join STEM Velocity this summer as we introduce young learners to the world of Mathematics! Campers will utilize LEGO Education and many other established multi-sensory resources to build a foundation for early math literacy. We will cover numbers, geometry, vocabulary, measurements, and much more! GEMS—Girls in Engineering, Math & Science (1–5): Hey Girls! Do you have what it takes to be one of our GEMS? This STEM Velocity camp was designed to help young girls gain confidence in the STEM fields so they can be competitive in the 21st century. Girls will learn about various STEM fields as they take part in a variety of activities tailored to them! They will also learn about scientific accomplishments made by Women, and support each other in their own path to achievement.
Natural World (1–5): There’s an exciting World of Nature waiting to be discovered! Participants of this STEM Velocity Camp will explore nature from new perspectives as we extract DNA, conduct a Bio Blitz, learn the intricate symbiosis of plants and animals, analyze specimens, explore natural wonders through microscopes, and much more!

Summer Day Camps Summer Day Camp
For more than 60 years, Westminster has offered a traditional day camp experience with the look and feel of a rural summer camp. Campers experience a variety of activities tailored to their grade level, interest, and ability. New, fun challenges await campers every day—including tumbling, archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, and more. You will find our secluded camp located at 3255 Nancy Creek Road, adjacent to our main campus. The Day Camp facilities include an athletic field, outdoor pool, canoe pond, fishing pond, nature and craft cabins, ropes course, riflery range, archery range, and a covered picnic area. Lunch is provided, but campers may bring a lunch if preferred (all lunches must be nut-free). Register your child to join the generations of young people who have spent summers at Westminster Summer Day Camp.

Summer Adventure Camp
Ready for even more adventure? Join us for our new Adventure Camp! Available for only rising seventh and eighth graders, this weeklong camp includes two days of intense team-building and outdoor skill practice at Westminster’s Summer Day Camp before campers head to north Georgia! Our three-day, two-night adventure will be packed with hiking, tent camping, outdoor cooking and more—surrounded by some of the most picturesque scenery our state has to offer! This camp is limited to 10 campers per session. No previous camping experience is required! A faculty guide, two counselors, and a certified Wilderness First Responder will attend each overnight trip.

Summer Day Camps Camp Wildcats
Wildcat campers participate in arts and crafts, sports and games, water play on the field, and nature discovery. With in-house field trips, this group is always learning and having fun. Group games and other activities take place in the Lower School gym making this an excellent choice for campers on the younger side not quite ready for a full day outdoors. The one-week option will allow campers to try different types of camps.

Cubby Camp
This action packed camp for 3- and 4-year-olds has a full- and half-day choice. Camp is held at Tull Hall on the Westminster Campus, just inside the back gate, and includes daily indoor and outdoor activities in arts and crafts, sports and games, swimming at the camp pool, and nature discovery. Our youngest Wildcats will have rest time each afternoon and should bring two nut-free snacks daily. Before care from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. is available for $50 per week; no after care is available for this camp. Campers must be three or four years old by June 1 and fully potty trained.

Broadcasting
Come let your inner artist out in one of our one-week art sessions! Week 5 features Yummy Art, and Week 6 features Draw Rah, Rah. Led by Abrakadoodle instructors, this camp is sure to bring home many treasured art pieces to be featured on the walls of family homes for years to come.
Ready to showcase your talents on air and on camera? Or maybe you want to call the shots and run the show from behind the scenes? You can do it all during WCAT’s broadcasting camp. In this hands-on experience, campers will learn how to write, edit, interview, produce, direct, and announce live events. Working closely with WCAT anchors and editors, participants will practice play-by-play and sideline reporting, hosting, studio production, and more. Campers will also discover how to use field reporting equipment and editing software.

Arts and Science Experienced educators teach classes in a variety of fields. Each day, campers have three activities, lunch and recess, and then three more activities. Summer Specialty Camps Codemoji® (CODE IT)
Does your student love navigating how things work on a computer? Codemoji®’s mission is simple: teach students to enjoy all things related to coding and the web while building problem-solving and creative thinking skills. Students build animations, websites, and video games; explore multiple coding languages; program robots; create STEM-based projects both on and offline; and are encouraged to share their projects when they get home. Students also work with interactive circuit boards to understand the basics of currents and work with their teacher to build a handful of fun projects.

Codemoji® (Kitty Coding)
Your first or second grader will learn the basics of coding and computer science as they are immersed in STEM activities. Students will collaborate to program robots to complete tasks, work with emojis as they dive into the Codemoji® platform, and participate in offline unplugged coding activities and games. Throughout the program, students will design a website and advance through interactive lessons. The Codemoji® Coder program will challenge your students as they advance through HTML, CS, and JS coding basics. Grades 1–2 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Counselor-in-Training
Designed for rising ninth and tenth grade students who have not yet turned 16, this camp is an excellent introduction to camp counselor duties. Up to three CIT campers are admitted per week and will rotate between Sports Camp, Summer Day Camp, or Wildcat Camp. While the CIT camp does not guarantee a counselor position in future years, it will help the camper determine where their interests lie.

This camp is an introduction for rising seventh through ninth graders who are considering competing in “policy” debate. Taught by one of our Upper School debate coaches, Matthew Munday, along with some of Westminster’s varsity debaters, students will develop their critical thinking skills, learn how to organize their thoughts and arguments, try some basic research, and, of course, debate each other.
Join the wonderful world of role play as your dungeon master (a.k.a. camp director) creates adventures galore. The first day, each camper will create a character and learn the established game parameters. Then the dungeon master will reveal play as the turns and twists occur at the roll of the dice. Each camper will receive a player handbook and have daily time outside. No previous experience needed.
Drone and Stemquest
The first two weeks of this camp are designed for novice and experienced drone enthusiasts alike. In weeks three and four, teams will work with the latest robotic technology to solve challenges. Summer Specialty Camps Filmmaking
Want to become the next great film director? In the filmmaking summer camp, each student will have the opportunity to write, direct, shoot, and edit. Our film camp is designed for students with little or no filmmaking experience. The program focuses on the fundamental elements of visual storytelling and the basic skills of filmmaking, such as screenwriting, cinematography, directing, and editing. By the end of the program, students will have applied their newfound knowledge and skill set to complete their own short film. Grades 4–8 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Game Development Using Roblox Lua code to create 3D worlds, Roblox is an entertainment platform that allows campers to imagine, create, and play together across millions of user-created virtual worlds. By the end of the week, all campers will be able to publish/share and play games with friends on any platform. No prior experience is required. All technology is provided.

Campers have the opportunity to learn and practice math skills through real-world problem-solving techniques. Campers are constantly challenged to solve unusual problems and invent their own in a relaxed, fun, and supportive setting. You may build a full-day program by pairing this camp with a different half-day camp. Depending upon the week that you need a full-day program you may be able to register for Math Fun 4 Girls, Sewing, Emoji Coding, Sports, Volleyball, or Tennis. Robotics
Robotics is offered to children, both beginners and experts, entering third through fifth grades. Campers work in teams of two to three, based on their age and level of experience. Campers have the option to use a blueprint to build a standard robot or design their own stable robot. Students will race through obstacle courses and against each other. Grades 3–5

“Sew It All”
Led by by Fashion Workshops, this camp will focus on creating sewing projects that include pencil pouch, water bottle holder, bucket hat, ice cream pillow and a shrug. Skills learned include hemming, encasing elastic, and mastering straight seams. Campers are able to build upon sewing skills every summer with the creation of new projects. All supplies, such as fabric and notions, are included in the camp registration cost. You may build a full-day program by pairing this camp with a different half-day camp. Snacks, snacks, everywhere snacks! Campers will have fun learning how to make their favorite snacks with some good old-fashioned hands-on stirring, turning, and burning. Campers will learn to whip up some of their favorite items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But why stop there? During the time campers are waiting for food prep work, they will have the opportunity to dive in and learn some science. Campers will compete with each other by finding out who can build the tallest or strongest structures, design a marble roller coaster, and battle with cotton ball catapults. Theatre Camp
Our summer theatre camp led, by Upper School Theatre Director Kate Morgens, is a fun day-long camp where students play theatre games and learn core performance skills while practicing scenes and songs for a final video presentation. Every day focuses on one or two theatrical elements: costumes, set design, acting technique, directing, playwriting, audition technique, marketing, and puppetry, to name a few. Summer Sports Camps Sports Camp
Sports Camp helps young athletes entering third through eighth grades develop their athletic potential in a wide array of sports. Led by Westminster head coaches Scott Snyder and Matt Pelot, the staff consists of coaches along with college and high school athletes. Campers also participate in a team competition that culminates in the Sports Camp Olympics tournament on the final day. Campers will select both a morning and an afternoon sport, with all campers having the opportunity to informally play a third sport during a free period. The camp is held in Turner Gym at Westminster and utilizes the Westminster athletic fields and facilities. Campers may select from the following sports: Morning Options:

Summer Sports Camps Coach Malloy’s Boys Basketball Camp
Basketball Camp concentrates on developing the fundamental skills—dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, spacing, movement without the ball, defensive stance, and positioning—essential for success in the wonderful game of basketball. There will be basketball competitions (hotshot, free throws, one-on-one) as well as live competitive league games. Westminster’s head varsity basketball coach, Tray Malloy, will emphasize the game of basketball while also focusing on creating an attitude of striving for excellence in all aspects of life. Summer Sports Camps Cheer Camp
Teaming up with coaches from the Peach Pit, the older cheerleaders in Week 1 will learn tumbling and stunting during the morning and then have cheers, dance and arts and crafts in the afternoon.
Week 1: June 6-10 (Grades 5-8) $500 per 1-week session Calling all future cheerleaders! Whether your school’s colors are green, blue, white, or orange, this is the camp for you. Westminster’s varsity cheerleaders will work with you on tumbling, dance routines, and basic sideline cheers. Daily arts and crafts will further enhance your cheer experience.

Football Camp
This camp provides a fun experience for all ages that includes specific skill training (passing, catching, route running, defensive technique and kicking) as well as competitive drills. Our goal is to grow the game of football through a healthy competitive atmosphere while teaching young athletes the importance of a team sport. This half day camp will allow any level of campers the opportunity to improve on basic skills or simply introduce the game of football. Camp counselors will include current and former Westminster Wildat football players as well as guest speakers throughout the week. Summer Sports Camps Coach Dunn’s Golf Camp
The first two weeks of camp are designed for players who are new or never played the game. The program includes 5–6 hours a day of golf instruction. The morning starts with individual and group instruction at the Aussie Kids Golf Camp. This facility specializes in the introduction and teaching of the golf swing, course management, rules, and etiquette. The golfers will play 9 holes at Cross Creek Golf Course in the afternoon. This program is quick-moving and designed to keep the interest of this level of player. In week 3, we will work with golders who already have advanced experience playing golf. During this session the players will be taught by PGA Certified Golf Professional J.R. Ross, with over 25 years of teaching experience, at Dogwood Golf Club. This camp is designed to help players improve their game and lower scores. The players will practice on the course and driving range in the morning and play 9+ holes in the afternoon. Practice will include, short game wedges, putting, long irons, driving and bunker play.
Karate Camp
Gear up, young champions, and kick high! Let the martial arts games begin! Ninja fun or game activities with a martial arts twist are incorporated into each day! Karate camp students begin each day with yoga to enhance flexibility and meditation to further focus the mind. Additional exercises for strength, balance, and agility are learned and practiced. Martial arts disciplines of Karate, Jujitsu, and Kung Fu are taught for beginners and for practitioners who want extra practice. KIA!

Summer Sports Camps Coach Snyder’s Soccer Camp
Led by Westminster’s award-winning varsity boys coach, Scott Snyder, this camp provides an outstanding soccer curriculum and instruction. The sessions will provide a fun soccer experience that combines training in the skills of the game and learning basic tactical foundations. We strive to provide an atmosphere that is both challenging and competititve in a positive way that enables players to acquire maximum technical/tactical skills. The rest of the staff will be comprised of current and former Westminster Scocer players.

Coach Loughran’s Swim Camp
This swim camp and stroke clinic with Westminster’s varsity swim coach is for swimmers of all levels. Levels include beginner swimmers, competitive swimmers and advanced competitive swimmers. The camp will focus on proper technique for each of the four strokes (breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly) along with critical starts and turns. Video sessions help provide additional feedback for further improvement. Teaching the fundamentals of flexibility, core strength, and body awareness in swimming is part of the daily training. The week 8 session will specifically work on getting all swimmers prepared for their P.E. swim section, improving their stroke.

Summer Sports Camps Tennis Camp
Based on the USTA Net Generation Kids program, this camp will help you learn or improve your tennis game. Each half-day session will work on strokes, serves, and returns as you volley with your fellow campers. Beginners to intermediate level campers will be divided according to their age and tennis level. The daily fun with Westminster varsity tennis players who serve as counselors will culminate with prizes and popsicles.

Coach Monroe’s Volleyball Camp
Volleyball Camp puts an emphasis on fundamental skill instruction (passing, serving, setting, digging, attacking, and blocking) for all levels of play, which enhances the overall understanding of how to play the game. Specialty skills sessions (setter, outside attacker, middle attacker, libero) are offered, which will allow the camper to sharpen the skills required in each position. The campers will play mini-games that emphasize different aspects of volleyball on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
