When are student health forms due? FAQS
All student health data, including required athletics forms, must be completed and submitted through Magnus Health System by July 1. Parents can find Magnus Health System in Wildcat Web by clicking the “Medical Profile” button under the “My Tools” sidebar.
Where can I find summer reading lists? Summer reading is required of all students. Grade-specific lists will be available online in the New Family Center in Wildcat Web in May. Summer reading books are available from online retailers, in many local bookstores, and from the Smythe Gambrell Library (Lower School), the George Woodruff Library (Middle School), and the Carlyle Fraser Library (Upper School) during special summer hours. The Westminster Campus Store may also carry some summer reading books.
What is the student dress code? Westminster students do not wear a uniform but instead follow a dress code. Students are expected to be well groomed and appropriately dressed for school on campus, at all on-campus school activities, and when representing the School off campus. Dress code policies for each academic division are outlined in the respective handbooks, which will be available in the online New Family Center this summer.

Frequently Asked Questions How do parents get involved in the life of the School? Parent volunteers are valued at Westminster, and there are many opportunities to serve. Parental involvement is organized through the Parents Association of The Westminster Schools (PAWS) and PAWS in the Lower School (PAWSinLS). All Westminster parents are members of PAWS. Be on the lookout this summer for a mailing from the PAWS president outlining volunteer opportunities. Learn more at westminster.net/parent-opportunities. Catbackers is the all sports booster organization at Westminster. Membership in Catbackers is open to anyone with an interest in Westminster athletics. Their primary responsibilities are communicating the latest sports news, building school spirit, and supporting Wildcat athletics. Learn more at westminster.net/catbackers. Each discipline of the arts at Westminster relies on an engaged group of parent volunteers to assist with various projects and activities. If your student is involved in chorus, dance, drama, band, orchestra, or the visual arts, you will have the opportunity to support their interest through volunteer service.
When will class and homeroom assignments be available? Lower School classroom assignments will be posted in Wildcat Web just before the start of school. Middle School homeroom assignments and class schedules will be provided to students the first day of school. They will also be available at student orientation and in Wildcat Web. Upper School advisement assignments and student schedules are communicated to students and parents at the beginning of the school year. They will be available at student orientation and in Wildcat Web.

How does my child become eligible to participate in athletics? The Athletics Department will send an email in June with information about participation in athletics. All student health data, including required athletics forms, must be completed and submitted through Magnus Health System by July 1. Parents can find the “Athletics” resource page referencing these details in Wildcat Web under “Athletics.” All required forms for athletics must be uploaded to Magnus before students are allowed to participate in tryouts or practice for any sport.
How do drop-off and pick-up work at Westminster? Lower School Every family in the Lower School must have a carpool number. Carpool numbers should be clearly displayed in the upper right-hand corner (passenger side) of the front windshield. All Lower School families will receive a carpool number for the 2019-20 academic year at parent orientation in the fall. Carpool numbers help us dismiss students safely and efficiently each afternoon. Please see the Lower School Handbook on the “New Family Center” resource page in Wildcat Web for detailed drop-off and pick-up instructions. Middle School The two main Middle School drop-off/pick-up locations are the upper location behind Robinson Hall (West Paces Ferry Road entrance) and Ellis Circle, which is the lower location behind Broyles Arts Center (West Wesley Road entrance). Families with students in both Lower School and Middle School may elect to use Lower School Carpool B (please see the Lower School Handbook). Be sure to tell your child when and where he/she will be picked up each afternoon. Upper School Adams Gate is a good drop-off and pick-up location for Upper School students.
Does Westminster offer carpool groups? A parent-organized afternoon carpool group is available to parents of Middle School and Upper School students who live within certain geographic areas and neighborhoods. These shuttles are neither sponsored nor administered by Westminster or by PAWS. For more information, please contact Colleen Blau, a Westminster parent who coordinates the shuttle program, at colleen.blau@gmail.com. If your neighborhood is not served by an existing shuttle, a new shuttle can be established for your area if there is sufficient demand.

Westminster offers interscholastic competition for students in grades 7-12. The level of participation is appropriate for each student’s age, development, ability, and interest. While some teams with limited roster spaces require tryouts, non-cut sports are offered every season. Tryout dates and times vary by team. Should you have any questions, call the athletics department at 404-609-6258.

In the fall, learn more about Westminster’s service philosophy and opportunities on the “Glenn Institute” resource page.
The Arts The arts are an integral part of a Westminster education. Beginning in Lower School, students explore art, music, and theatre arts. In Middle School, participation in the arts is required every year. A semester arts course is required for graduation for all Upper School students. Extracurricular opportunities begin in third grade, and the diversity of offerings expands through the Middle School and Upper School years to provide students with opportunities to learn new ways to express themselves through the arts.

School Seal: Meaning and Significance The sun is a Messianic symbol of Christ. This symbol is based on a phrase in Malachi 4:2, “But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings...” The monogram represents the first three letters of the name “Jesus” in Greek, with Gothic style letters. The circle surrounding the monogram represents eternity. The rays indicate glory. The Seal, then, represents the fact that Jesus, as the eternal sun of righteousness, is the heart and center of the School.

Campus Plan Westminster’s campus plan, completed in 2017, is a framework for the way we think about our campus spaces. The impact our buildings and grounds have on teaching and learning is a common thread throughout our strategic plan, approved by the Board of Trustees in May 2012 (For College and For Life). This strategic plan was the impetus for the formal campus planning process, which took place over three years and was completed in 2017. During the campus planning process, we were guided by Westminster’s historic commitments. These values continually shape how we think about many aspects of the Westminster experience. As we visited these commitments time and time again while discussing the evolution of our campus, it became clear that a few of them would be evident in every part of our campus plan: • Defining Academic Excellence • Creating a Unique Student Experience • Serving Atlanta and the World From this starting point, three key themes for our campus plan emerged: • Building Community • Strengthening Connections • Learning and Leadership on Display Our process included gathering perspectives from across the Westminster community— students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, prospective donors, and foundations—to ensure that the emerging strategy for future development met the School’s most pressing needs while capturing a vision for how we will teach, learn, and strengthen our community going forward. After completing a framework for the campus plan, Westminster engaged architects and a general contractor who have made substantial progress on designing the first renovation and new construction projects on our Upper School campus—the site of Westminster’s very first buildings. While developing building plans, we completed a feasibility study and are beginning conversations with prospective leadership donors. As parents, it is important for you to know that our campus has been, and will be, built through the generosity of the Wildcat community rather than through reliance on tuition. While our endowment may seem like a readily available source of funding, it is fully committed to the daily experience of every Westminster student by supporting programs, financial aid, and the great work of our faculty and staff. Since our founding, philanthropy has been the catalyst for creating spaces that match our students’ and faculty’s ambitions and strengthen connections across the Westminster community. To ensure our success as the campus plan comes to fruition, we have completed an indepth financial plan to ensure that we have accounted for every contingency as we take on these significant commitments. The School has also obtained initial approvals from the City of Atlanta, allowing us to proceed with confidence that we will meet governmental regulations and requirements. You can learn more about the campus planning process and the details about the first phase of building projects by visiting westminster.net/campus-plan.
