Pieces That Work for Multiple Seasons FASHION WARDROBE MULTITASKERS
BY DORCAS AKINTOYE
One clever approach to guaranteeing that you always look amazing, regardless of the weather, is to have a versatile wardrobe. You can smoothly transition from the dry to the rainy season with a few essential pieces. We will show you six basic clothing items that work well for both seasons.
1. DENIM JACKET
A wardrobe staple that never goes out of style is a denim jacket. You can wear it with a dress or a simple T-shirt throughout the dry season for a chic yet laid-back vibe. It’s great for layering over sweaters or hoodies when the rainy season arrives. Because of its durable material, it can withstand occasional drizzle.
2. MAXI DRESS
Maxi dresses are very versatile. They are ideal for keeping cool during the dry season without sacrificing style. For a laid-back look, wear them with sandals. When it starts to rain, pair a maxi dress with boots, a jacket, or a cardigan. In addition, the dress’s length provides some warmth and wind protection.
3. CARDIGAN
A cardigan is a necessary piece for layering throughout every season. When the evenings become slightly colder in the dry season, it can be layered over a tank top or T-shirt. It is a great way to add warmth during the rainy season and is simple to put on and take off as the temperature changes. Pick a neutral colour to go with a variety of ensembles.
4. DARK WASH JEANS
A staple piece of clothing that works for any occasion and season is a pair of dark-wash jeans. Wear them with flats or sneakers and a light blouse or t-shirt to look casual during the dry season. Wearing these jeans with boots and layering them with coats or sweaters can add extra warmth when the rainy season rolls around. Additionally, their darker hue makes them more resilient to the occasional splash or mud.
5. SCARF
A scarf is a multipurpose piece of clothing that can enhance your look while adding style. A lightweight scarf can be worn as a fashion statement throughout the dry season, giving your ensemble a splash of colour or design. A thicker scarf can protect you from the cold winds and offer warmth during the rainy season. It’s a simple addition that has a significant impact on an ensemble.
BUTTON-UP SHIRT 6.
Every season is appropriate for a classic button-up shirt. It looks sophisticated but casual when worn alone during the dry season, with the sleeves rolled up. For additional warmth, layer it under coats, skirts, or sweaters when the rainy season approaches. Choose clothing made of permeable materials, such as cotton, to provide comfort in warm and cold weather.
CONCLUSION
Putting together a wardrobe with multipurpose items is not only practical but fashionable as well. You may make sure you’re ready for any weather the dry or rainy seasons may bring by choosing pieces like a denim jacket, maxi dress, cardigan, dark wash jeans, scarf, and button-up shirt. All year long, these adaptable pieces will make you feel fabulous about yourself.

1.MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT SKINCARE ROUTINE
Stress and Skin
During stressful periods, maintaining a regular skincare routine is important. You can do this by cleansing your skin to remove impurities and excess oil, moisturising your skin, and exfoliating to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. By following these steps, you can keep your skin clean, hydrated, and free from buildup that can lead to breakouts.
2.STAYHYDRATED
Skin health is mostly dependent on hydration. Stress-induced dehydration can leave your skin looking lifeless and dehydrated. Try to have eight glasses of water or more each day. To further increase your level of hydration from within, eat foods high in water, such as oranges, melons, and cucumbers.
How to Keep Your Skin Clear During Stressful Times
BY DORCAS AKINTOYE
Our skin frequently suffers the most from the damage that stress does to our bodies. The effects of stress on our skin can be profound, ranging from dryness to breakouts. Nonetheless, practical methods exist to maintain clear, healthy skin even in difficult situations. Let us explore ways to keep your skin’s clarity when life gets stressful.
4.ENSUREADEQUATE SLEEP
For the renewal and healing of the skin, sleep is essential. Undereye bags, puffiness, and breakouts can all be signs of sleep deprivation. Get between seven and nine hours of sound sleep every night. Creating a relaxing nighttime ritual, like reading a book or having a warm bath, will help you sleep better, enhancing your skin.
3.EAT A BALANCED DIET
Your diet directly impacts your skin’s condition. Stress can trigger unhealthy food cravings, so it’s critical to maintain a balanced diet full of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and other nutrients. Vitamin and antioxidant-rich foods like leafy greens, berries, and almonds promote healthy skin and can help eliminate breakouts brought on by stress.
6.AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE
When under stress, you may involuntarily touch your face more frequently. This may cause breakouts by transferring bacteria, oil, and debris from your hands onto your face. Try to avoid this behaviour by keeping your hands away from your face. Keep your hands clean if you must touch your face to reduce the possibility of spreading pollutants.
CONCLUSION
5. MANAGE STRESS EFFECTIVELY
Managing stress is essential for maintaining clear skin. Exercising regularly, practising relaxation techniques, and engaging in activities you love can help mitigate the effects of stress on your skin by reducing the overall stress load on your body.
Though times of stress can be detrimental to the health of your skin, you can maintain bright, glowing skin by using these six tips: Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, control your stress, refrain from touching your face, and follow a regular skincare regimen. By incorporating these habits into your everyday routine, you can protect yourself against the damaging effects of stress on your skin.
BON APPÉTIT
And How to Use Them Healthy AlternativesFlour
BY DORCAS AKINTOYE
Most of us are aware that refined flour is unhealthy. The white, fluffy powder has no nutritional benefits for our bodies. The increase in blood sugar is another well-known side effect. White flour has low nutritional value; for every calorie it provides, it almost entirely lacks fibre, protein, and healthy fat. Nutrient-dense recipes and favourite foods can be enhanced with alternative flours. How do you break free from refined flour in a world where everyone is obsessed with healthier substitutes and options while still enjoying bread, desserts, and pasta? Consider trying out any of these flour alternatives.
2.RYEFLOUR
1. QUINOA FLOUR
A nutrient-dense, gluten-free seed with an earthy, nutty flavour, quinoa is the source of this flour. Quinoa is sometimes seen as a grain, but it is a plant-based protein source with all nine essential amino acids necessary for proper bodily function. Additionally, high in fibre, minerals like magnesium, iron, B vitamins, and antioxidants, quinoa and quinoa flour are also rich in several other nutrients. Try using quinoa flour in waffles, muffins, and pancakes. For extra nutrition and a nutty taste, replace half of the all-purpose flour in standard recipes with quinoa flour.
Rye berries, a variety of wheat with a rich, earthy flavour, are used to make rye flour. Light, medium, and dark variants of rye flour are available for purchase. The rye is closer to a whole grain, the darker it is because darker rye has more bran and germ. Additionally, darker rye will have a thicker texture and a more potent sour flavour than lighter kinds. Rye flour should not be used in place of allpurpose flour. Instead, mix by replacing 25% of the all-purpose or whole-wheat flour with rye flour. Regardless, you could prefer a combination because rye flour has a strong flavour. Savoury foods like bread, crackers, spaghetti, flatbreads, and even pie crusts are best made using rye flour. However, it can also give rich taste and fibre to baked goods like cakes and cookies.
3.ALMOND FLOUR
This kind of flour is made from peeled and finely ground almonds, which are believed to boost feelings of fullness and satisfaction. It also lowers glycemic (blood sugar) impact after a meal or snack and is high in fibre, healthy fats, and protein. Almond flour is a heart-healthy choice for grain-free, low-carb, paleo, and keto diets.
4. COCONUT FLOUR
You guessed it: dried and ground coconuts are the source of this flour substitute. Along with easily digested carbohydrates, it is full of fibre and good fats. Remember, though, that it can need extra moisture when used in recipes. Coconut flour is appropriate for grain-free, paleo, and keto diets. Those allergic to nuts can also use it as a great substitute for almond flour.
CONCLUSION
5. OAT FLOUR
Since all you’re using is ground-up rolled oats, this replacement is really easy to make. With a food processor or blender, you can easily make it at home on a budget or buy it. Oat flour has a higher protein and fibre content than all-purpose wheat flour. Oat flour is suitable for gluten-free diets when made with rolled oats that do not contain gluten.
Whole-wheat and alternative flours provide a world of flavours and textures worth discovering, whether they replace or enhance your goto recipe. And it’s never been simpler to branch out with the growing assortment that most supermarkets offer. Try one of these flours for nutritional benefits, including more fibre, protein, and micronutrients. Go beyond the basics.
CREATING THE PERFECT NURSERY
BY JOHNSON CHUKWUEKE
Parenting,
especially for the first time, can be quite a task. There are lots of things to learn and adjust to, and just preparing for it ahead of time can also prove to be a lot of hard work. Preparing for the arrival of a new baby is one of those parenting duties that can be both exciting and tasking. One aspect of that journey is designing a baby’s nursery. So many ideas are bound to overwhelm your mind with what you must do, but do not worry; this article will help you prepare a cosy and delightful space for your little one.
Choose a Calming Colour Palette
When creating a nursery for your baby, you should always aim for a tranquil and soothing environment. Choosing the right colour palette is important if you want to achieve this goal. Shades of blue, pink, or yellow are known to have calming and nurturing qualities, hence the reason they are mostly recommended for babies. These gentle colours promote serenity and comfort for babies.
Invest in Quality Furniture
This is essential for your baby’s comfort: a sturdy crib, a firm changing table, and spacious storage for clothes, diapers, and toys. Furniture made from solid wood or metal is ideal for your baby’s nursery. In addition to material, consider versatile pieces, such as a crib that can be transformed into a toddler bed. Having such versatile pieces gives the nursery more room since you have one piece of furniture that has two functions.
Personalisation
Incorporate framed photos, artwork, and kid-friendly items into the nursery; this way, it’s more colourful and engages your baby’s sight. You can do this to your taste, but remember that your decoration has to give the nursery a soothing and relaxing ambience.
Prioritise Safety
Babies can’t keep themselves safe. Do well to childproof furniture, remove every material that’s a choking hazard, install securing cords and blinds, ensure furniture is perfectly balanced, use outlet covers to childproof electrical sockets, and, of course, make sure to keep sharp objects out of the nursery.
The ambience of your baby’s nursery depends on its cosiness. Set the mood with soft lighting, opt for dimmable lamps or string lights to create a warm atmosphere, and regulate the light levels in the nursery to help with restful sleep, especially during nap time. Play soft lullabies or white noises to increase the chances of your baby relaxing and eventually drifting to sleep.
Preparing for a baby is never easy, and even with much preparation, things could be unpredictable, but as you start with these tips while also learning more, you can create a comfortable space for your baby to rest, play, grow, and thrive generally.
LIVING Building Emotional Bonds ROAD TO RECONNECTION
Authenticity
One thing to always remember if you want to make authentic emotional connections is to be genuine. No good relationship should begin with a facade. How you present yourself and your interactions should be who you really are, and as long as it’s appealing, you will find kindred spirits who will accept your energy. Embrace sincerity and share your genuine thoughts, feelings, and even experiences.
Empathy
Connecting with people also means considering what they feel, especially in their downtime. Empathy is simply the ability to share and understand the feelings of another, and truth be told, no one wants to be involved with someone who is insensitive and can’t “read the room.” Being empathic lets them know they can be vulnerable around you, and you wouldn’t pull them down more than they already feel.
Trust is the foundation of every relationship, be it professional, friendship, intimate, or family. The people you care about and who care for you need to know you will always have their back. It doesn’t matter if you are blood relatives, as long as the trust is there. Being related by blood is just a formality and means nothing if you can’t be reliable.
BY JOHNSON CHUKWUEKE
When it comes to human relationships, emotional connections serve as the thread that holds us together. No human goes about life without feeling emotion; it could be anger or love; whatever it is, humans cannot get rid of their feelings; it’s what makes us humans. Humans are regarded as social animals, and the need to be involved in a community is an in-built urge that cannot be suppressed. As social creatures, we could want to create emotional connections with new people or even stronger emotional connections with the people already in our lives, but not everyone knows how to do so. Be it in a professional or personal aspect, relationships are inevitable. So, here’s a guide on how to go about creating emotional connections.
Active Listening
As simple as it may seem, paying attention and actively listening to people you care about will mean a lot to them. Genuinely listening to them is an act of love and respect. Sometimes, all people need is someone to pour out their hearts to and having you there at such a time makes them even more open to you in other situations.
Expressing Gratitude
Making someone else feel good after they have helped you is an easy way to make them feel good about themselves. Always appreciate a good thing done for you by them; such an act prompts more good deeds because they want to feel appreciated constantly.
There’s a saying that goes: “No man is an island.” Being a species that is naturally social, we have an urge for genuine connection with people who can relate with us, and when you find these people, make sure to never ruin such connection you have built.
NAVIGATING THE FIRST YEAR OF MARRIAGE
1. COMMUNICATE OPENLY AND HONESTLY
Any strong connection starts with effective communication. Honestly discuss your opinions, ideas, and worries with your spouse. Establish a routine of checking in with each other every day. This facilitates communication and improves mutual understanding. Always remember that listening is equally as important as talking. Remain silent when your spouse speaks and express your interest in what they say.
2. SPEND QUALITY TIME TOGETHER

Laying a solid foundation early on can facilitate a happy and fulfilling marriage. Here, we will discuss vital habits that newlyweds should develop to improve their relationship and deal with the highs and lows of married life.
CONCLUSION
4. MANAGE FINANCES TOGETHER
Money can be a big source of stress in a marriage. You both need to sit down and talk about your savings strategies, budget, and financial objectives. Manage your money as a team by being open and honest about your expenditures. This promotes mutual respect and helps prevent misunderstandings.
5. RESOLVE CONFLICTS CALMLY
Any partnership will inevitably have disagreements. Resolve disputes amicably and with kindness when they come up. Don’t point the finger or be critical of one another. Concentrate on coming up with a solution as a team. Remember that the problem is against you and your partner, not against each other.
6.KEEP THE ROMANCE ALIVE
It’s simple to settle in and develop a routine, but don’t forget to maintain a romantic atmosphere. Little acts of kindness, such as sending each other beautiful notes, compliments, or arrangements for a surprise date, can help to keep the romance alive in your relationship. These small gestures of affection demonstrate your concern for your partner and maintain the flame.
The first year of marriage is especially important for laying the groundwork for a lifetime of love and happiness. You can successfully navigate this journey and build a happy and lasting marriage by being transparent with each other, spending quality time together, offering support, handling money as a team, resolving issues amicably, and keeping the romance alive.

OnJuly 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first human beings to walk on the moon. It was an inspirational moment for people all over the world. But some people took that inspiration and quickly spun it into a conspiracy theory that NASA faked the whole moon landing on a soundstage.
Hollywood loves to be topical, so filmmakers latched onto this paranoid fantasy immediately. Only two years after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon, James Bond stumbled across NASA’s top secret film studio in Diamonds Are Forever. By the time we got to the present day, it wasn’t even a subversive idea anymore. It was just a throwaway gag in kids’ movies like Minions
Now, it’s the premise for Fly Me to the Moon, a romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum. But even though the conspiracy theory that NASA faked the moon landing is deeply and depressingly cynical, there isn’t an ounce of cynicism in Greg Berlanti’s sweet, comical and joyous film. Fly Me to the Moon uses great screenwriting and good old-fashioned star power to bring a farfetched concept back down to Earth.
Johansson stars as Kelly Jones, a fasttalking advertising executive hired by a mysterious G-man named Moe Berkus (Woody Harrelson) to revitalise America’s crumbling space race propaganda machine. While she’s building buzz through fake interviews and product placement deals, NASA’s launch director Cole Davis (Tatum) builds the whole Apollo 11 spacecraft.
Cole is sincere. Kelly is a compulsive liar. They have nothing in common except a shared and seemingly impossible goal: to land American astronauts on the moon. It’s a formula for romantic chemistry that could be taught in science classes, not just in film school. Lesser actors could rest on this premise and get away with it but Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum are on fire. Almost all romantic comedies have a “meet cute” scene, but very few will leave you fanning yourself afterwards.
It sounds like hyperbole to compare Tatum and Johansson to classic
Hollywood couple Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, but the shoes fit. Johansson’s high-energy vivacity and Tatum’s grumpiness make for a wonderful centrepiece. Then Berlanti fills the rest of the film with memorable side characters, like the diva commercial director Lance Vespertine (Jim Rash) and Kelly’s card-carrying feminist assistant Ruby (Anna Garcia). It’s almost hard to believe this film takes place at a maximum security location since every scene gets stolen by somebody.
Cinematographer Dariusz Wolski shoots Fly Me to the Moon with a colourful sleekness, a wistful and sharp evocation of 1960s visual aesthetics that never hits you over the head too hard. Mary Zophres’ costume design and Shane Valentino’s production design make for a superb combination.
It’s an inviting place to visit, this version of the 1960s, and although the film is adamant about keeping a light and airy tone, it doesn’t pretend the Vietnam War isn’t happening at the same time. It does, however, pretend that almost no one smoked in the mid-20th century, and that’s as big a lie as the fake moon landing.
This screenplay is one hell of a balancing act. It probably shouldn’t work but it does. Rose Gilroy wrote the script from a story by Keenan Flynn and Bill Kirstein, and that script segues smartly from frothy romance to teary pathos and back again. Best of all, Fly Me to the Moon cleverly takes its bitter conspiracy theory and treats it like a threat instead of a fact. The mission to put a person on the moon was successful because people believed it could be done. The very idea of faking that mission is such an insult to their achievements that it must be stopped at any cost. With those kinds of stakes, Fly Me to the Moon never feels weightless, no matter how light it comes across.
It’s fair to say that Greg Berlanti’s film is more successful when it’s funny than when it’s serious, but it never gets sidetracked by one tone for very long. Instead, Berlanti keeps his film zooming along at a brisk, even breathless clip. Always pressing forward, always shooting off sparks. It’s a rocketship ride of a rom-com, and one day — probably not far in the future — I suspect it may be considered a cult classic.
These days, any original sci-fi film is worth cheering for; one boasting genuine movie stars is even more exciting. Sadly, this Brad Peyton effort can’t deliver on its promise. The film benefits from some cool imagery and a great cast — particularly a committed lead performance from Jennifer Lopez — but wastes it on predictable character beats and a tired trauma narrative/ analogy.
It’s all very sci-fi-looking: lots of flying cars and blue glowy things. No surprise, given this begs, borrows and steals from classic films and games of the genre. An opening raid to capture the rebel AI known as Casca (Abraham Popoola) is heavily indebted to the attack on Trinity in The Matrix, while a computer voice asking, “Do you wish to continue?” as someone watches the news is surely meant to evoke Starship Troopers. The plot echoes the 2004 I, Robot: Lopez’s AI-skeptic Atlas must overcome her painful past to unite with an artificial intelligence and save the day from an evil robot (Simu Liu).
A considerable chunk of time involves Atlas adapting to an interactive mech suit — and its AI companion Smith (Gregory James Cohan) — which she must use to navigate a hostile planet where
the big bad is hanging out. This section has lots of extremely relatable moments of tech frustration: the endless pressure to sign up for services you don’t want, the patronising user manual, and the creepily intrusive data-mining. It’s funny and horrifying at the same time: surely
by the time we have flying cars and an LA that looks like Singapore we should have moved past this?
The premise, frustratingly, leaves the physically gifted Lopez essentially locked in a box for ages; Liu is similarly confined to lurk menacingly and rely on eerie contact lenses for impact. Still, there are entertaining moments as Smith develops sarcasm and Atlas gets to grips with action, though they can’t make up for the strongly conservative narrative. For a film about robots this is remarkably heavy on nationalistic motifs. There’s also some muddy exposition that smacks of rewrites and rushed VFX that the film can’t afford. Anything with mech suits and a first-personshooter scene risks looking gamey to begin with; you can’t shortchange the VFX as well.
In the end, there’s a little too much ‘become one with the machine’ talk for this to really sing; it’s a metaphor for overcoming trauma but also deathly literal. Lopez is committed and manages to sell some objectively ridiculous scenes, but the narrative can’t get past its own obsession with therapy-speak, when what it really needs is a raft of oldfashioned one-liners instead.
