Men Make And How to Avoid Them COMMON FASHION MISTAKES
BY DORCAS AKINTOYECreativity is essential since men’s fashion gives fewer options than women’s. You can express your individuality and mix many fashion trends by experimenting with your look. Being oneself is always a good idea when it comes to fashion, but some simple rules need to be followed. For a man, even seemingly insignificant elements, like choosing the wrong tie, can make or ruin a whole look. If you want to seem put together and attractive, you have to be aware of the small mistakes that men still make. The most typical fashion faux pas made by men that you should steer clear of to enhance your look and elevate your style are listed below.
1. CLOTHES THAT DON’T FIT
Excessively baggy clothing will give the impression that you are wearing sloppy hand-me-downs. Become best friends with your tailor if you have trouble finding off-therack clothing that fits your body shape.
2. IMPROPER PANTS LENGTH
Never fold your jeans or chinos unless you’re deliberately making a fashion statement. You can let your jeans fall to the bottom of your shoes, but make sure they stop just above the floor to prevent unintended fraying. Furthermore, the pants’ legs need to be slightly bent or creased. Avoid being the person whose feet are submerged in a ton of excess cloth. To have them hemmed, all it takes is a quick trip to the tailor.
FASHION
3. WRONG SOCKS WITH A SUIT
If you’re dressing professionally or for a formal event, match the colour of your socks with your pants rather than your shoes. Go for navy socks if your shoes are black and you’re wearing a navy suit. If you’re wearing a light suit, ensure your socks match the suit’s colour but are somewhat lighter than your shoes. Of course, if you intentionally break this guideline for the benefit of your style, then you can.
4. WRONG BELT COLOUR
When wearing dress shoes for formal occasions, make sure your belt complements the colour of your shoes and has the same finish. Wear a thicker casual belt rather than a thin dress belt to match your casual shoes or sneakers.
5. WEARING TOO MANY COLOURS
To maintain a cohesive style, keep each outfit to no more than three hues or tones. If in doubt, look up a colour wheel online and use it to guide your selection of hues. Complementary colours are those that are opposite one another on the colour wheel. Analogous colours are hues that are adjacent to one another. When assembling an ensemble, adhere to complementary and comparable hues, and keep in mind that less is more.
6. TOO MUCH JEWELLERY
All a man needs in terms of jewellery are interchangeable watches and, if he’s married, a wedding band. Consider wearing a necklace if you’re young and like them, but avoid wearing multiple necklaces, bracelets, and rings at the same time unless you’re a rock star. Try to keep the amount of jewellery you wear to no more than three pieces.
One way to convey who you are to others and the outside world is through your distinctive style. These styles and fashion faux pas seriously harm your look without you even realising it. Which ones are you guilty of? Strive to avoid them and develop your style.

A Guide on How to Use The Bullet And Rabbit Vibrators
BY DORCAS AKINTOYEOne of the best inventions ever made is likely the vibrator, which can significantly improve your sex life both alone and with a partner while also offering an effortless way to achieve an orgasm. You have a lot of alternatives when it comes to choosing your preferred vibe in this cutting-edge era of sex technology. There are so many alternatives available that it might be a little tricky at times to navigate the sex toy industry. From vibrators shaped like lipstick or flowers to powerful wands and thrusting vibes to wearable ones you can use with a partner, finding the perfect vibrator for you (or the newest addition to your collection) might be a little stressful, especially if it’s your first sex toy. In this article, we will explore some of the different
RABBIT VIBRATORS
The first thing that springs to mind when you hear the term rabbit vibrators is that they resemble real bunnies. However, that is untrue. Toys like the rabbit vibrator offer simultaneous clitoral and internal stimulation. You could be feeling apprehensive if this is your first time using a rabbit vibrator. Relax and don’t rush anything; start slowly. To maximise comfort and enjoyment, apply a lot of waterbased lubrication. Set the vibrator as low as possible and see how that feels to kick things off. You can attempt a lot of different motions, but the most crucial thing is to follow your intuition and do what feels good—you are the one who sets the rules. While the rabbit vibrator is inside of you, try holding it there and moving the ears over your clitoris. Alternatively, you may try pushing the shaft as you would with penetration, and as you do so, place the rabbit ears so they touch your clit. You may wish to work up to the higher levels as you get more at ease and confident. On certain toys, the shaft and rabbit ears can be operated separately, so experiment with both or just one to see what suits you the best.
CONCLUSION
With the help of vibrators, we can experiment with different types of stimulation, such as penetrative or clitoral, and even determine the optimal postures. Now that we’ve broken down some of the various kinds of vibrators available, it’s time for you to choose the one that best suits your needs, and you’ll be well on your way to exploring new pleasure-seeking opportunities, whether you’re experiencing the rush alone or with a partner.
Inspiring Change Through Media OJY OKPE
Women are making incredible progress in the dynamic field of journalism, shattering stereotypes and changing the media landscape with their innovative approaches. They have forged their paths, elevating the voices of the marginalised and bringing about significant change with tenacity and fortitude. Women journalists are not only covering the news; they are actively influencing narratives and establishing new benchmarks for excellence in the industry due to their passion and hard work.
Ojy Okpe is a remarkable illustration of women’s effect and influence in the media. Okpe transitioned smoothly from modelling to becoming a powerful force in television presenting and filmmaking thanks to her dynamic experience in communications and film production. Her acclaimed show, What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe, is evidence of her indomitable dedication to social impact and her love of storytelling. Okpe uses her platform to illuminate current events, start vital discussions, and encourage constructive social change through insightful and engaging content. She continues to make a lasting impression on the media landscape with her unique viewpoint and limitless creativity, serving as a constant reminder of the importance of creativity, impact, and inclusivity in fostering a better future.
In this interview with THEWILL
DOWNTOWN’s Dorcas Akintoye, Ojy Okpe talks about her journey in the media industry, the challenges she has faced so far, her hopes for the media industry, and the importance of inclusivity in the media.
Can you share a pivotal moment that inspired your transition from modelling to becoming a television host and filmmaker?
I had always wanted to be a filmmaker; I never envisioned being a journalist because I studied film in school, although I took some courses in journalism. However, my journey in journalism began when I got hired to work as a producer for Arise News Flagship Show, ‘Arise Entertainment 360’, anchored by Lola Ogunnaike and Shannon Lanier, which was back in 2013 in New York. At the time, I also analysed fashion and entertainment stories, and as a fashion model, I would cover ‘fashion week’ across the globe. Eventually, I began producing short features and short documentaries for our documentary unit. After working for a year with the documentary unit, I was promoted to the position of assistant director.
to with the public, as I highlight reactions to public discourse, especially conversations that can shape the nation. I also highlight amateur videos that expose the rot within our society for the panelists to analyse and proffer solutions for change. So, it is a collaborative effort between the media and the Nigerian public, and I think that the collaboration is what we truly need to move the nation forward.
“The media is the fourth pillar of democracy, and its main purpose is to provide accurate news to all types of views for public consumption. I think the Nigerian media has done well in providing necessary information to the public; ”
The documentary unit produced a bunch of specials, and in 2015, we won a NY Emmy for the documentary, Game Changers: How the Harlem Globetrotters Battled Racism. That was the pivotal moment; it was the game-changer in my career. I instantly knew that I was drawn to human-angle stories. I knew that I wanted to do more along the lines of journalism, news production, and anchoring.
What inspired the concept behind What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe, and how do you ensure it stands out in the crowded landscape of television shows?
The concept of What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe is derived from telling stories that are not usually told or covered in mainstream media. I treat humanangle stories, reactions to current affairs, the economy, sports, music, film, and the arts and I also report news within Africa and across the globe.
The aim is to raise awareness and to highlight achievements. I think What’s Trending with Ojy Okpe stands out because of the unique relationship I share with my team. My team comprises renowned journalists, including veteran anchor/journalist Dr. Ruben Abati, Rufai Oseni, and Ayo Mairo-Ese. They are all wonderful in their unique ways, and their contributions to the stories on What’s Trending with Ojy Okpe is what sets the show apart from any other show on the continent and across the globe.
How has your hosting style evolved since the beginning of your career, and what lessons have you learned that have influenced your approach today?
I think my anchoring has evolved in ways that I cannot fully describe, but I know that I am a lot more confident than when I started. The first time I anchored a program, I had little or no experience reading a teleprompter, and so I had to improvise a lot. The good thing is that I write my scripts and I produce the entire show, so, at the time, it was easy for me to improvise. I think being the executive producer of What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe has kept me grounded and made me a better journalist.
How can media contribute to fostering a more informed and engaged citizenry in Nigeria and beyond?
The media is the fourth pillar of democracy, and its main purpose is to provide accurate news to all types of views for public consumption.
model, because I got to travel to different cities around the world. Travelling around the world gives you a sense that you are not alone in the world; when you encounter cultures that are similar to yours, that is when you realise that the world is a global village. So, yes, travelling is my favourite hobby, especially when I get to travel with my two beautiful children.
Are there any specific goals or projects you aspire to achieve in the coming years in your career?
Definitely, as the only thing that is constant in life is change, and based on that premise, I am constantly looking for ways to improve myself, evolve, and even transition to doing bigger projects like making films and documentaries and perhaps maybe write a book or two in the near future. I think journalism will always be a part of my life; I would like to continue telling stories, especially human-angle stories. I see myself doing more in the lines of charity work and really helping the underprivileged, especially vulnerable children and motherless babies. I am very passionate about children; if I had my way, I would have 100 children live in my house. So yes, I would like to do more feature-length documentaries highlighting the plight of the underprivileged in a bid to raise awareness so that we can find ways to support them.
How do you envision the future of Nigerian media, and what role do you see yourself playing in its development?
The future of Nigerian media depends on our young journalists, what they perceive as ethical reporting, the type of stories that they want to tell, and whether or not they are interested in stories that shape our future, our economy, or even stories that drive the agenda for good governance and prosperity. My advice to young journalists will be to focus on the mission to make Nigeria great again by highlighting issues that will re-shape the mindset of our politicians, our religious leaders, and those that are in charge of making policies that can revamp our economy, and re-position Nigeria to become the giant of Africa like it has been touted. I would like to see young journalists, take up the mantle to replicate the format of What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe and tell stories that set the agenda for a better Nigeria.
“I like to travel, I love to visit places that I’ve never been to before. If I had my way, I would be on a plane, a boat, or yacht everyday. I love the ocean, and I love to meet new people. ”
I think the Nigerian media has done well in providing necessary information to the public; beyond our challenges, we continue to put the interests of the Nigerian people first, and now, with technology and social media, Nigerians have been engaging in citizenry journalism, and that is why What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe is so important because it provides an avenue for viewers connect
As a woman in the media industry, have you faced unique challenges, and how have you overcome them to achieve success in your career?
As a woman in the media industry, I have faced a couple of challenges, especially from women. I would say that men have been more supportive of my career than women. I have had to overcome some of these challenges by sheer resilience, and always just raising the bar, never giving up, never taking no for an answer, and making sure I don’t become the story. The most important thing for me is telling compelling stories, telling stories that drive the agenda for good governance, while making sure that my stories resonate with my audience.
Have you noticed positive shifts in the representation of women in media throughout your career, and what more can be done to amplify women’s voices?
“My advice to young women aspiring to pursue careers in the media would be to study the craft. It is important to be able to arm yourself with the information that you need to excel, and make sure you take one or two courses in journalism”
Yes, I have noticed positive shifts in the representation of women in the media. When I began my career with Arise News in New York, the ratio of female journalists to male journalists was small; the newsroom was male-dominated. But when we moved to Lagos, Nigeria, in 2017, I did notice a shift; we had more female anchors and more female reporters, and our Managing Director was female. Even just looking at some of the women who have shattered glass ceilings in the media space, when we talk about Nollywood, we see women like Mo Abudu, Funke Akindele, and Kemi Adetiba. Nollywood is dominated by women who can amplify our voices through movies. Women must continue to advocate for bridging the gender gap, and as we celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day theme; which is ‘invest in women, accelerate progress’; we must also embrace the fact that we have the power to to instill positive change, by using our voices. Implementation is key, so as much as we speak, we must also find solutions by making sure that what we are advocating for is set in motion.
How do you balance the demands of a high-profile career with your personal life, and what strategies have helped you maintain this balance?
Beyond your professional life, what hobbies or interests do you pursue to maintain balance and inspiration in your personal life?
I like to travel, I love to visit places that I’ve never been to before. If I had my way, I would be on a plane, a boat, or yacht everyday. I love the ocean, and I love to meet new people. I love to learn about new cultures and new languages. If I weren’t a news anchor, I would probably be a travel journalist. Growing up as a model, it was always so refreshing to be able to visit different cities during fashion week, which was my favourite period as a fashion
I guess by just being positive, having a positive outlook on a day-to-day basis helps me keep in touch with reality. I am on television six mornings a week, and so you can imagine how demanding that is for one’s state of mind. Some mornings, I may not be feeling up to the task, either from mood swings or sickness, but when I remember that my viewers are out there and that I have people looking up to me, people who want to hear what I have to say, I would have no choice but answer the call of duty. And so having a positive mindset toward work and your daily activity helps to shape how your day will turn out, and I think that has been one of my greatest strengths in terms of just finding ways to have that work-life balance between having a high-profile career as a news anchor and being a mother; and for the record, my greatest achievement in life is being the mother of two wonderful children, Oz and Mela.
As a trailblazer in your field, what advice do you have for young women aspiring to pursue careers in media and entertainment?
My advice to young women aspiring to pursue careers in the media would be to study the craft. It is important to be able to arm yourself with the information that you need to excel, and make sure you take one or two courses in journalism; if you can study journalism in school, then do that. Also, try to familiarise yourself with public speaking,
attend seminars, engage with people, and get as many contacts as you can because, as the saying goes, a reporter or a journalist is only as good as his or her sources.
If you could have a different career other than what you are doing right now, what would it be?
It would be filmmaking of course! I believe film is another medium used to tell stories on a larger scale. Like I said, film is my first passion, I studied film in school, it is a career path that I intend to pursue in the near future.
As a TV host, you must be very conscious about your fashion style. What is your most valuable fashion item?
I’ve loved fashion since I was a young girl. I was born into a fashion home; my mother was a fashion designer. I modelled for many years, so fashion is second nature. I love simplicity in fashion, and I consider every fashion item that I own very valuable.
If you had the opportunity to change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Fortunately, I love everything about myself.
I am a woman, I am a mother, I am a sister, I am an aunty and a strong advocate for a better world.

SISTERHOOD AND SOLIDARITY
CELEBRATING STEPHANIE COKER’S DOCUMENTARY ON PCOS
AsInternational Women’s Month comes to a close, I’d like to reminisce on an event I attended earlier this month. It was a day-to-night time soiree in honour of Stepanie Coker’s new documentary, Where The Heck Is My Period. A film that takes a deep dive into the lives of various women and their life journey living with PCOS. How they were or were not properly diagnosed, the limitations they’ve had to face, and so much more. The documentary is Prime Video’s first licensed documentary in Nigeria.
It was an event by women, for women, and if you were there, you could feel the joys of sisterhood amongst us. Taking photos of each other, hyping ourselves up, complimenting each other’s outfits, hair, and makeup, catching up on lost time, and exchanging ideas and contacts. Aside from the networking, it was also a chance to unwind and relax with a meditation session by Faith Yogi, something I’ve been meaning to try, so I’m glad I got the chance to. The location, Tiffany Amber Gardens, was also the perfect, serene backdrop we needed to stay relaxed.
themes and engage in candid dialogue about the topic of women’s reproductive health. Aside from PCOS, other issues were discussed, such as menstrual irregularities, endometriosis contraceptives, and infertility, amongst other crucial health concerns women have.
Another memorable moment was the panel discussion, where experts in gynecology, public health, and activism came together to unpack the film’s
The discussion shed light on the holistic approach to maintaining general reproductive wellness for women. Audience members eagerly participated, sharing their own stories and insights, forging connections and fostering a sense of solidarity.
As someone, a woman who has friends with PCOS, I was moved to tears at a point while watching the clip we were shown at the screening. I mean, I’ve heard when they missed a period every now and then, possibly got on the pill as prescribed by some doctors; I had supported them through countless doctor appointments and hospital visits while they endured symptoms and side effects in agony and reclusion, but watching that documentary opened my eyes to even more stories and data and health information I didn’t know about. It educated me and encouraged me to do even more fact-checking and develop a conscious curiosity to learn about other women’s health topics and, if any, how poorly some health organisations treat these issues.
The executive producer and media personality, Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, has PCOS as well, which is what also inspired this documentary, having seen the lack of awareness about the subject. The documentary is an initiative of her nonprofit organisation, The Future Is Her. Through the
personal stories that guests shared, it’s evident that Where The Heck Is My Period? documentary is one that has not only left a mark on all that attended but will keep impacting the lives of women in generations to come worldwide.

LIVING WITH PETS
The Benefits of Companionship And Unconditional Love
BY DORCAS AKINTOYEThe companionship of a pet can be a source of solace, joy, and steadfast love in a world that frequently feels hectic and demanding. Living with pets can have many great benefits, whether you’re a dog person, a cat person, or have a fondness for any other furry, feathery, or scaly buddy. In this article, we’ll go over six advantages of having a beloved animal companion live with you.
2. STRESS REDUCTION AND RELAXATION
It’s been proven that spending time with pets helps in reducing stress. Petting a dog or cat can help you unwind after a stressful day by releasing feel-good chemicals like oxytocin and lowering the production of stressrelated hormones.
1. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND AFFECTION
Unconditional affection is a quality that pets excel at. They don’t condemn, harbour grudges, or care about your shortcomings. They show steadfast, unadulterated affection that is unmatched, and they also have the ability to calm and support one’s emotions.
3. INCREASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Pets, especially dogs, encourage physical activity. You can stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle by taking your pet for daily walks, playdates, and exercise. This improves not only your physical health but also your mental health and energy levels.
4. SOCIAL CONNECTIONS
Pets can be a great way to strike up a conversation and break the ice. You’re likely to engage in discussion with other pet owners while out and about with your pet, just enjoying a stroll. This promotes interaction and a sense of community.
5. ENHANCED EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
Having pets can greatly enhance the emotional health of your home. They give you a sense of purpose, lessen your loneliness, and may even help you feel better if you’re experiencing sadness or anxiety. Your sense of worth and self-esteem can increase as a result of having a pet.
6. UNWAVERING COMPANIONSHIP
Pets provide unending companionship. They welcome you home, snuggle with you on the couch, and provide you with a sense of security by letting you know you’re never truly alone. This can be very comforting when facing difficult situations in life.
CONCLUSION
Living with dogs has many advantages besides just the cute wagging tails and purring cuddles. They are treasured family members because of their unwavering love, stress-relieving qualities, promotion of physical exercise, function as social connectors, improvement of emotional well-being, and unwavering friendship. So, whether you have a devoted Labrador, an inquisitive cat, or any other pet, cherish the unique connection you share and take pleasure in the many ways their love and presence enhance your life.
BEAUTY
A Guide to Choosing The Right Face Serum For Your Skin
BY DORCAS AKINTOYEYou undoubtedly already know that serums are becoming increasingly common, whether you’re into skincare or makeup. Everyone knows that a serum is a liquid you apply between a cleanser and a moisturiser. It contains active ingredients to help with various skin issues. Vitamins, peptides, acids, and other active components are found in high concentrations in serums, which are skincare treatments. These potent compounds work together to address and cure particular skincare issues. Compared to moisturisers, serums are typically thinner and transparent, gel-based, or liquid.
HERE ARE SOME EASY TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT SERUM
1. DETERMINE YOUR SKIN TYPE
Everybody has a distinct skin type. Therefore, products that work for someone with dry skin might not work for someone with oily skin. Choose serums with salicylic acid, retinol, or niacinamide if you have oily, acne-prone skin because these ingredients are great for this kind of skin. Since it helps draw moisture to the face and make it plumper, hyaluronic acid is a fantastic active ingredient for those with dry skin. Vitamin C or hyaluronic acid are excellent choices if you have a typical skin type and merely need to maintain your skin.
2.LOOK FOR SUITABLE SERUM ACCORDING TO YOUR AGE
Since serums are so full of active components, you must ensure you’re selecting the proper one for you. Starting with a low concentration of active ingredients is always the best method to get your skin used to the serum. A basic skincare regimen consisting of sunscreen, moisturiser, and cleanser is sufficient for teenagers. For those in their early 20s, niacinamide or hyaluronic acid are excellent first choices. It’s time to start using retinol if you’re in your late 20s, 30s, or 40s.
3.FIND YOUR SKIN ISSUES
When treating uneven skin tone, dark spots, and acne scars, alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic and glycolic acid, azelaic acid, vitamin C, and kojic acid are excellent choices to include in your daily routine. A retinol serum is a wonderful option to combat the signs of age. Salicylic acid or retinol are effective treatments for blackheads and whiteheads.
4.READ THE INGREDIENT LIST
Reviewing the ingredient lists of the serums you are considering using after determining your skin type and issues is crucial. The product’s ingredients and effectiveness can be discovered from the ingredient list. Seek for serums that have a lot of the active components stated near the top of the list. Steer clear of serums that include substances you know will irritate your skin, or that could cause allergic reactions. Know which particular substances you should avoid or may also be allergic to. Choose scent-free serums, for instance, if you are sensitive to scents. If you have a documented allergy to nuts, steer clear of serums containing nut oils.
CONCLUSION
5. CONSIDER THE TEXTURE AND ABSORPTION
Face serums are available in gel, cream, and liquid forms, among other textures. Choose the texture of your serum based on your skin type and preferences.
Lightweight serums or gels may be better suited for oily skin types, while dry skin types may prefer creamier textures for additional moisture. Furthermore, observe the speed at which the serum seeps into your skin. A good serum should absorb rapidly and not leave anything oily or sticky behind. This will prevent you from feeling heavy or clogged while layering other products, including sunscreen or moisturisers.
When selecting a face serum for your skin, it’s important to know your skin type, identify your concerns, review the ingredient list, consider texture and absorption, and ask for advice. By following these steps and trying several brands, you may find the ideal serum that meets your unique demands, enhances the general health of your skin, and gives you a dazzling complexion. Patience and consistency are essential when introducing a new serum into your skincare regimen.
FOODS YOU SHOULD EAT 6
EWhen You Have A Hangover
BY DORCAS AKINTOYExcessive alcohol consumption can cause your body to react with a hangover. Lethargies, light sensitivity, headaches, dehydration, and prolonged dizziness are some of the symptoms. Extensive research has been conducted on hangovers, although little is known about the precise mechanisms causing them. The theory behind hangover symptoms is that the body undergoes specific hormonal and immunological reactions. Although the cure for hangovers is unknown, several meals and beverages may help alleviate symptoms. The top six meals and drinks to help relieve a hangover are listed below.
(1) BANANA
Drinking alcohol causes dehydration and the loss of electrolytes like potassium and sodium because it blocks the hormone that helps your body retain water. Particularly high in potassium, bananas can aid in your body’s restocking of reserves. Nine percent of the daily value (DV) of potassium is found in one medium banana.
(2) SWEET POTATOES
Sweet potatoes provide several elements that could speed up recovery from a hangover.
One cup (200 grams) of cooked sweet potatoes may provide about 200 percent of the daily value for vitamin A, 13 percent for magnesium, and 20 percent for potassium. While magnesium and potassium are required to replenish what is lost during alcohol consumption, vitamin A may aid in combatting the inflammation linked to hangovers.
(3) AVOCADO
After a night of excessive alcohol consumption, eating avocados can help elevate low potassium levels caused by dehydration and alcohol. One avocado, weighing 136 grams, has 15% of the daily value
for this mineral. According to studies, avocados also seem to have compounds that guard against liver damage. Avocados may be particularly helpful for hangovers since excessive alcohol consumption damages the liver.
(4) EGGS
Cysteine, an amino acid your body requires to make the antioxidant glutathione, is abundant in eggs. Alcohol consumption reduces the body’s glutathione reserves, and without it, your body struggles to eliminate the harmful consequences of alcohol
metabolism. Consuming eggs that are high in cysteine can boost glutathione levels and potentially alleviate hangover symptoms.
(5) SALMON
Fish is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for reducing inflammation in the body. Eating salmon or other fatty fish may be an excellent approach to lowering hangover symptoms because consuming alcohol can increase the number of molecules that trigger inflammation.
(6) CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP
Chicken noodle soup is a common cure for the flu or cold, but it might also assist with hangovers. Because it has a high salt concentration, research suggests that it can aid in rehydration. One cup (240 grams) of chicken noodle soup may contain 32% of the daily value for sodium.
CONCLUSION
Though there isn’t a miracle remedy for a hangover, a few foods and beverages might make you feel better. Avoiding alcohol completely or drinking it moderately is the best strategy to prevent a hangover.

A particular trait that can be a reason to worry for Aries individuals is their impulsive nature. They are adventurous and tend to go into action before having a moment of thought, and regularly making such hasty
decisions could lead to unfavourable consequences for them. Channelling this impulsiveness positively can help them avoid unnecessary mistakes, achieve goals faster, and solidify their status as great leaders they were born to be.
Aries individuals embody the spirit of adventure, courage, and passion. They are always willing to put in the work, go through the challenges, and leave their mark on the world around them. Even though their impulsive nature could seem to be a challenge to their success, finding a way to stop themselves in the moment and think things through would be a good way to overcome this personal challenge for them.
The Gentlemen
GuyRitchie’s slick, sly, and darkly funny Netflix series The Gentlemen is a spinoff of Ritchie’s crackling good crime comedy-drama feature film of the same name from 2020. However, don’t expect any cameos from Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Grant, or anyone else from the movie.
We’re still in the same world, i.e., an England in which lucrative cannabis labs operate under the estates of aristocrats who need the fat cash influx to keep running their monstrously large homes.
From that jumping point, the series introduces a whole new set of characters from a myriad of locales and backgrounds who have one thing in common: They’re all willing to do whatever it takes, whether it’s scheming and double-crossing or using fists, swords, knives, guns, etc., to eliminate the competition and or exact revenge.
Also, as you’d expect from the prolific and provocative filmmaker behind Snatch, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes movies, etc., The Gentlemen is filled with cheeky humour, sweeping camera movements, callbacks to previous plot developments and the occasional use of a graphic that spells out definitions and sometimes does some convenient math for us.
It’s a complex and layered story, but it’s also relatively easy to keep track of the various gangsters and high-society wolves in sheep’s clothing maneuvering to gain control of the cannabis market.
Theo James, fresh off his Emmy-nominated turn on The White Lotus, is perfectly cast as the leading-man-handsome and born-tothe-manor yet hardnosed Eddie Hornaman, a British Army captain in charge of a UN outpost who is summoned home because his father is dying. And when we say “home,” we mean an enormous estate, as Eddie’s dad is a Duke.
To the outrage of the oldest son, the coke-addled and entirely unreliable Freddy (Daniel Ings), the reading of the will reveals that dear old pops has skipped over Freddy and left everything, including his title and the run of the manor, to Eddie. He’s a duke now, and everyone calls him “your grace.” Nice!
No sooner has Eddie wrapped his mind around this development when he’s hit
with two other surprises:
(a) Freddy is $8 million in debt to a ruthless clan of drug-dealing gangsters, and (b) speaking of drugs, there’s a thriving marijuana plantation underneath the dairy farm. It’s one of a dozen such underground labs spread throughout England, all run by the stylish, droll and quite dangerous Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), who rarely makes a move without consulting her father, the mob boss of mob bosses Bobby (the great Ray Winstone), who is serving a long prison sentence but has a cushy setup that puts to shame Paul Sorvino’s cell in Goodfellas
For the run of the series, Eddie keeps talking about how he wants to separate from the mob and get out of the potgrowing business, but as the blood spills frequently and often in creative fashion, it turns out Eddie has a real knack for this sort of thing. At times, Eddie and Susie make for a formidable team, and there’s no denying the electric chemistry they share; just as often, they’re at odds, with each not trusting the other, and for good reason.
Even when we’re not spending screen time with the two leads, The Gentlemen never lags, as it boasts a fascinating array of supporting characters.
Giancarlo Esposito is Stanley Johnston, a meth kingpin who loves the finer things in life, from bespoke suits to million-dollar wine collections; think Gus Fring, only with a few extra zeros in his bank account.
Vinnie Jones is Geoff, the gamekeeper of Halstead Manor who knows all and sees all; he’s kind of like Carson from Downton Abbey, only with shotguns.
Michael Vu is the horticulturist Jimmy, who is high on his own supply 24/7, which leads to some really bad decisions. We’re also introduced to Irish travellers, a Nazi sympathiser, a money-laundering fight promoter, a crazed and machetewielding luxury car dealer, and let’s just say not everyone is getting out of this adventure alive.
There are times when The Gentlemen loses momentum, and we get a little impatient waiting for the gears to grind again, but thanks in large part to the sharp writing and stellar performances from Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, and the entire ensemble, this is a worthy addition to Guy Ritchie’s library of stylish and violent crime thrillers.

WATCH OF THE WEEK
3 BODY PROBLEM
Series seldom arrive as nicely scaled for long (potentially very long) multi-season runs as 3 Body Problem, a brainy science-fiction concept from a producing team – Game of Thrones’ D.B. Weiss and David Benioff –whose last major venture shared similar attributes. Rapidly revealing secrets, the eight-episode opening salvo effectively plants a hook for many more problems to come.
Based on the books by Chinese author Liu Cixin, revealing details about the show risks spoiling it for the uninitiated, but it’s safe to say the premise sets in motion a sweeping mystery: Someone appears to be killing off scientists for reasons that become clear, given the pace of most first-year series, with surprising alacrity. Moreover, some of the scientists are plagued by strange visions, seeing numbers that appear to be counting down – toward what, being the operative question.
Much of this plays out through an extended group of friends who work in the sciences – played by, among others, Eiza González, Jovan Adepo and Jess Hong –and lose one of their members. Elsewhere, a detective (Doctor Strange star Benedict Wong) investigates these seemingly connected cases, while another government official (Liam Cunningham, one of the Thrones alums in the cast along with John Bradley and Jonathan Pryce) begins to grasp the bigger picture and gird himself for the somewhat nebulous battle to come.
Another strand,
slowly but cleverly connected, involves a young scientist in China during the 1960s after the Communist regime takes over, Ye Wenjie (Zine Tseng), who becomes aware of the issue that will face those aforementioned characters decades later.
In that sense, 3 Body Problem (a title derived from physics) shares certain attributes with Game of Thrones, which established the threat posed by the White Walkers early, then got caught up in other Westeros politics and relationships while that tantalizing, existential
danger loomed ahead, growing closer as the show progressed.
For the most part, though, this show (overseen by Benioff and Weiss along with “The Terror” producer Alexander Woo, while boasting a lengthy roster of co-producers that includes Brad Pitt and director Rian Johnson) proceeds with such a steady hand as to remain highly watchable throughout what amounts to this extended overture. Netflix could certainly use another obsession within this genre as Stranger Things nears its end, and 3 Body Problem, while a very different kind of show, appears well positioned to scratch a similar itch.
The culmination of a long journey from page to screen, what the future holds for such a complex and demanding construct remains to be seen.
