held in memory of Phillip James Tofflemire. Last year’s event raised $25,000 for the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland and the goal is to reach that level again. The goal for each individual rider is $100 in donations. In 2010, children from Coos County made a total of 1,401 visits to the hospital, while children from Curry County made 211 visits and those in Douglas County made 2,822. The hospital provides state-ofthe-art care for children, including more than 160 pediatric specialists. Individuals or four-member cycling relay teams will complete a 61-mile (100-kilometer) route on May 19. They will start and end in Sturdivant Park and follow back rounds through Arago, Myrtle Point and Gravelford on the way to Frona Park near Dora. Lunch will be provided.
