The living-history program comprises short vignettes, in one-on-one conversational settings. Dressed in period costumes, the actors discuss events in their personal lives and in the world around them. Inge Licon portrays Jane Hughes as a widow in her seventies. Kim Hall portrays Annie Hughes, Jane’s daughter-in-law. Ken Stevens portrays Father Charles Keveny, an itinerant Roman Catholic priest. “Jane and Annie at Home” will be presented in the kitchen on July 11 and Aug. 8. “Tea with Father Keveny” will be presented in the dining room on June 27, July 25 and Aug. 22. Performances will occur throughout the day, depending on the number of visitors. Bandon, Oregon Hughes arrived and settled on their first piece of land, and began to build their dairy. Today, the land remains, along with the Victorian house designed and built by Pehr Johan Lindberg in 1898. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Hughes House is located on the ocean side of Highway 101. Use the Cape Blanco Road turnoff, located between Mileposts 296 and 297, about four miles north of Port Orford, and follow the signs. Hughes House is a short distance before Cape Blanco Light Station, another site on the National Register of Historic Places. FOUND: MALE Border collie/ shepherd mix.
