endurance skills. Outrunning zombies who seek life flags is the first event of its kind on the Southern Oregon Coast. Prizes will be awarded to surviving runners with the fastest times and to the most voracious zombies. Racers must make strategic choices to find the quickest route to the finish line with their life flags intact. Several “Safe Zones” allow runners to escape zombies, rest and recuperate. Each runner starts out wearing a belt with five life flags. Each flag captured by a zombie adds time to the runner’s final standing. Five captured flags results in the runner’s “death” and disqualification. Dead runners can become zombies and chase victims. Zombies lie in wait or chase runners to grab their life flags. Prizes are awarded to zombies with the most captured flags.
