THE WREN DESIGN The Wren Design has always had its roots in recycling. The company started in 2008 working with roll ends of English fabrics but has since made a radical departure from conventional textiles, with it's innovation to stitch paper and make durable. This is an innovation that has proved highly successful. By treating the paper using fusion and coating technologies, the paperâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s strength is greatly enhanced and it becomes a functional fabric. The result is a unique product line which can be likened to origami in its simplicity of design. The natural texture of the paper also lends the product a unique tactile quality that adds to its appeal. In 2016 The Wren Design is focusing on three paper product ranges.

PPC LAPTOP BAGS Pretoria Portland Cement can be argued to be the biggest cement brand in Africa. If not, then it certainly is the most iconic one. Using reject and unused cement packaging bags these laptop bags are created. A cement packet has three layers of paper. The top layer is used for the outside of our Wren PPC Laptop Bag and one of the inner paper layers lines the bag. Each of these layers that make up a Wren PPC Laptop Bag is reinforced with cotton to make it durable. There is a middle dividing pocket and two pockets in the front of the bag. At the bottom is high density foam as well as at the bag. The flap closes with two hidden magnets and to ensure that the bag is durable in all weather we treat it with Nano Liquid Glass. All in all, we prioritise looking after your laptop without compromising on design!

NATURAL BAGS The packaging printing company often has reel ends that are cut off according to the size required to print. These ends are usually discarded, recycled or sold to us! Using this paper we fuse it to our cotton fabric so that we can stitch it and then coat it with Nano Liquid Glass to make it water resistant. Complimenting the paper with African Cow Leather (strap and closing detail) we produce Sling and Messenger Bags. The Natural Paper Sling and Messenger Bags are padded at the bottom to protect devices carried around inside, and have a single pocket. The flaps close with a single or double, depending on the design, leather detail pres stud to secure the contents in the bag. These bags are simple and utilitarian in design.

SLEEVES After making the Wren PPC Laptop Bags we are left with a layer of brown paper. This layer we save from the dustbin by using to make sleeves or covers for devices such as the iPad mini, kindle, tablet and various size laptops. We have a natural collection that have a blind deboss, several screenprinted collections and a digitally printed collection. All of the sleeves close with magnets and the laptops have a pres stud for extra security. The inside of the sleeves are lined with brushed cotton that is soft and fluffy. There is also an extra pocket on the front of the sleeve for some notes, your kindle or a stylus. To top it off, the sleeves are all coated with Nano Liquid Glass to make them water resistant.
