We are a small, friendly Riding School set in beautiful Warwickshire countryside. The School, which has been established for 20 years, is run by Sue Ward BHSAI and caters for adults and children from 6 years upwards. All of our staff have BHS qualifications. We offer lessons for all abilities, catering for complete beginners through to experienced riders; we pride ourselves on promoting a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with our lovely, good natured horses and ponies. There are numerous activities for children. Our Day Courses, running throughout the school holidays, include plenty of riding: children also learn how to care for a pony and have lots of fun! We organise accompanied hacking, for both children and adults, on surrounding quiet country lanes and bridleways, ideal for gentle hacks, or faster hacks for experienced riders. Other activities include: competition days; pony club meetings; show jumping; stable management and RDA lessons. Our facilities include two outdoor arenas, one of which is floodlit. We also provide riding helmets, free of charge, for riders who arrive without one.

THE M DAVIES’ EXPERIENCE M Davies Limited is a well-known
local company who most people would associate with solid fuel, bottled gas and of course wood burning stoves. They have developed a reputation over the years for providing a reliable friendly fuel delivery service which started right back in the 70’s! M Davies started life as a coal merchant and their trucks were a common sight in the area laden with sacks of the ‘black stuff’. Still delivering fuel, these days the ‘black stuff’ comes in plastic bags and alongside these are a whole range of gas cylinders, plus logs, kindling... very much a one-stop fuel shop. Over the last 10 years or so they have also become known as the place to go if you want a
woodburning stove installed. Their showroom has over 30 stoves on display....the staff there really know their stuff...and they can carry out just about any style of installation, small or large, simple or complex! What a lot of people don’t realise is that their showroom is also a treasure trove, stuffed full of gorgeous, and often unusual things for the home. Originally intended to give the displayed stoves an authentic ‘at home’ feel, the range has now grown to the extent that some customers pay them a visit, not to get fuel, or a stove, or a companion set, but to buy a french clock, or an unusual piece of wall art, or a funky wine rack or a pretty collection of coat hooks, or..the list is endless. Many pieces are one-offs
and once gone, cannot be replaced. All pieces are top quality - most are made in the UK. Some carry a price tag which reflects the high level of craftsmanship, but there are also many many bargains to be had. Situated in stunning countryside, with plenty of parking, at least 4 of the display stoves always on the go, comfy sofas, friendly staff...you’re going to love the M Davies experience!

Well Summer has come to a dramatic end hasn’t it? It doesn’t seem to be that long ago that I was wandering around in shorts and tee shirt but I can’t see myself dressed like that for another 8 or 9 months! (some might say unkindly ‘thank goodness for that!’). I guess the highlight in Southam this summer apart from all your Barbeques was the enactment from 1642 of The Battle Of Southam on August 17th and 18th. What a weekend that turned out to be and thanks to all those who organised the event it turned out to be a fantastic couple of days and the weather was kind to us even though the forecasts were pretty dire! What do these forecasters know anyway!! The BIG question now is – Are you all coming along to the MOP Fair on MONDAY OCTOBER 15th – Southam’s answer to Alton Towers? We really do hope the answer is ‘YES!’ since Southam & District Lions Club will once again be holding their famous ‘HOG ROAST’ at the back of the Old Mint in Southam. So do all come along especially in the evening when the baps are generously filled with roasted pork, crackling, stuffing and apple sauce. Savour once again the aroma of the roasted meat and join the queue for the finest tastiest treat of the night! You are welcome to come along earlier and meet the Lions some of whom will have been on active duty since 8am getting the Hog ready and wired to the pole! (That’s the hog wired to the pole not the Lions!) The Lions will be selling their HOG ROAST RAFFLE TICKETS with fabulous prizes given by our many business friends in the area and the TOMBOLA STALL will be there too which is always popular particularly with the young people. So mums and dads make sure you have some golden coins in your purses and pockets for the little ones! The Lions are supporting local charities once again this year, and in addition one of our favourite charities, Zoe’s Place which is a Children’s Hospice with a facility in Coventry. So please help us to do something really positive for children with life shortening illnesses by being as generous as you can by visiting us on October 15th.

These changes are mainly related to the temperature and humidity of your dogs environment. But if your dogs nose is warm and dry and they are showing other signs of being unwell it is advisable to seek veterinary advice.
It would be nice to think that when your dog licks you it is doing something more beneficial than just covering you in slobber. However most pet owners would agree their dogs mouth is not the cleanest of places, especially after they’ve just devoured a questionable substance on their walk. The truth is that although dogs saliva may possess some antiseptic properties it can also harbour many different bacteria which can cause infection in humans, especially those with a weaker immune system. It is for this reason that if your dog has a wound, even one which has been sutured, they should not be allowed to lick it.
