2023-2024 LEVEL I INFORMATION FORM

Level I Excursions are those which take students to familiar settings within the local area for day time activities which expose students to risks typically encountered in everyday living or while at school and which involve local transportation either by walking, subway, city bus, school bus, or taxi Examples of Level I Excursions: trips to museums, local parks, a local store or neighbourhood, a library, an art studio, a concert hall, a theatre, another school, or athletic facility. Parental consent for Level I Excursions is given at the beginning of each school year

Ms. Sheriff, Ms.Purcell, Ms. Pearson, other York Staff as needed, and 2 parent volunteers

Students will inquire into how the forces affect the natural environment. They will engage in experiments and use their investigation skills to assess how simple machines affect our everyday lives. Students will be designing systems of different simple machines and assessing how these machines allow for different types of movement

Special Considerations and What to Bring

What to Bring:

1. WATER BOTTLE: All students need to bring a water bottle

2. LUNCH: Sandwiches will be provided by The York School cafeteria for lunch, students are permitted to bring their own lunch if they choose to.

We ask that all students exercise caution when packing snacks for the bus and are aware that people in our community have serious allergies to foods. A NO NUT and NO PEANUT policy is in effect. Please refrain from bringing snacks that contain SESAME and MUSTARD due to allergies in the class

3 CLOTHING: Although we will be indoors, please have your child dressed for the weather There are lockers at the science centre where students can store their items during the visit Any personal medication (such as personal epipen, puffer, etc)
