Level I Excursions are those which take students to familiar settings within the local area for day time activities which expose students to risks typically encountered in everyday living or while at school and which involve local transportation either by walking, subway, city bus, school bus, or taxi Examples of Level I Excursions: trips to museums, local parks, a local store or neighbourhood, a library, an art studio, a concert hall, a theatre, another school, or athletic facility Parental consent for Level I Excursions is given at the beginning of each school year

Families are to pick up their children from the venue at the end of the concert Students will be dismissed from the venue at 8:00pm

Activity Description and Educational Rationale
Students in TYS jazz ensembles will perform a varied program of jazz repertoire in concert with featured guest artist Kae Murphy. This event provides the students with an authentic performance experience on a professional stage in

collaboration with a professional musician for a live audience
Students will work with a sound engineer during their soundcheck and eat dinner together at the venue (see What to Bring section below for dinner details)

$30 for dinner if not bringing a bagged meal
What to Bring:
1. INSTRUMENT & MUSIC: All students need to bring their musical instrument and necessary music
2. DINNER AND SNACKS: Students are welcome to bring a nut-free meal and snacks from home
Those who choose NOT to bring dinner from home must pre-order a meal from Lula’s menu via a Google form by Friday, March 1 They are expected to list any dietary restrictions for the venue’s kitchen staff
Students will enjoy dinner during the concert when not performing. Approximately 6:00 - 6:30 pm. Mr. Pittman will be providing some light nut-free snacks for students on each bus.
3. CLOTHING:
Students must wear Concert Black dress for the performance
4 MEDICATION:
Please bring any personal medication (such as two personal epipens, puffer, etc). If students have an anaphylactic allergy, please ensure that TWO epipens are brought (as on every trip). The student should carry one epi pen on them and will give one to the teacher to store with them.
5. CELL PHONES:
Cell phones will be permitted on this trip, but will only be used for emergencies
6. WATER BOTTLE: All students need to bring a water bottle

Students are expected to adhere to the York school’s code of conduct, which involves following the instructions of the staff and adult supervisors without delay or argument, show
respect and act with courtesy towards others, be helpful and considerate to others
