DID YOU KNOW? LOL For some people the word LOL means Lots Of Love and for others LOL means Laughing Out Loud but both of them are wrong . We did a little deep research and we found that in a definition that dates back to 1960, where LOL is used as an initialism for ‘Little Old Lady’.

Meet DERRICK MARVIN

DERRICK MARVIN IS A MUSIC ARTIST FROM KIGALI, RWANDA.

His Hit Songs like Wack and No Limit have that sort of vibe that makes both your party and nighttime playlist complete. His music passion dates back to his freshman year in high school, the pensive rapper says that writing is his ultimate outlet, allowing people to see what goes on in his head. He quoted "I don’t really talk about the way I feel to others; So I keep things bottled up.When I write songs I fully express myself, giving people a glimpse of how I think and feel". He started out writing lyrics for fun and the feedback from his friends propelled him to take it further.

Marvin cited Lil Wayne as his biggest musical influence and artists like Tupac, Kanye West and Jay-z because their art was unconventional but still conveyed messages. Kanye’s music is beautiful and, it speaks volumes and that’s what gives me more drive to make powerful music but to express. Like many young creatives he’s still finding time to balance being creative and working. I just started a new job but when I’m off I’m either writing new songs or finding ways to further push my music so that I can make a living out of it. His hobbies include playing basketball and watching mini series. Marvin has new projects coming soon including; an EP and his debut album. Meanwhile he is realising new songs from his upcoming EP, also he comfirmed to us that a video is on its way.

POETRY

Esther Uwibambe at Kigali Vibrates With Poetry

Poetry is a literary genre that defies precise definition. Many poets and scholars let their muse determine what poetry is, but for the rest of us, we could use this definition commonly found on the Internet: ‘Poetry is an imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound, and rhythmic language choices so as to evoke an emotional response. Poetry has been known to employ meter and rhyme, but this is by no means necessary. Poetry is an ancient form that has gone through numerous and drastic reinvention over time. Olivier Tuyisenge is a Rwandan poet, and recently told The New Times, He says poetry should be given a stronger platform because it has the potential to make a positive impact in society. He also says that this can be possible if society attitude changes and people start taking poetry seriously, like any other art that needs development. ‘Poets themselves need to make the industry shine, they have to believe in themselves and make more audios and videos’ he says.
