The Historical Development Trend Of Guangzhou Cinema

When did you begin to have this idea?

>Period of Slow Development [1908-1920] During the slow d e v e lo p m e n t o f t h e f i l m i n d u s t r y, t h e distribution of cinemas in Guangzhou was scattered, without a specific concentration area, and there were only 15 cinemas by the 1820's.

As the only customs gate open to the outside world in the late Qing Dynasty, Guangzhou has always been the place where many new trends have been introduced, and movies are no exception. There have been cinemas in Guangzhou since the beginning of last century, and it even reached its peak in the 1970s.

Why did the Film Renaissence choose to break it down into three steps?

In different historical periods, the audiences and geographical locations faced by the cinema are different. The area where Xiguan is located is the historical birthplace of Cantonese Oprea, and most of them are the residences of famous actors and the places where films are shot. Beijing Road, on the other hand, is a younger area that attracts young peope to play. The causeway near the Pearl River represents the facade of Guangzhou, and the surrounding buildings more solemn and elegant.

As a famous tourist resort in Guangzhou ,Beijing Road predestrian street has a variety of commercial forms. Moreover, i t p re seve s t h e c h arac te r i st i c buildings of Guangzhou during the Republic of China (arcaded), which makes the whole environment present a sense of the times.

According to preserved historical documents, journal papers and past news materials, the number of opening and closing cinemas and the function of cinemas in different periods in Guangzhou from 1900 to 2010 are sorted out.

At the beginning of the 20th century, films came to Guangzhou, a city that takes Cantonese opera as an important life and entertainment, and was gradually overwhelmed by the charm of movies. It was not until the 1970s that films gradually replaced Cantonese opera as the most popular entertainment activity.

According to the design strategy conception of building facade and building interior space function, the space dividion and detail design area carried out. For places with multiple spcial functions, such as cafe, ballroom. boolstore,resraurant etc. Facade and window decoration with the architectural style of Guangzhou arcade building in the 1960s are endowed on the exxternal facade. The more private space - cinema, which is sealed with a morden curtain wall. This makes it possible to have a clear understanding of the functional properties of the whole building from the persective of distance.
