Domonique Revere-Lincoln (@EmpressDNique) of Empress Lingerie, Entrepreneur and Full Figured Model By I’esha GaptoothDiva Cool, gorgeous, focused, and stylish were all the words that came to my mind when I modeled alongside Dominique. Her presence on the runway would leave an insecure woman in shame, but her warm personality lets you know she is not intimidating but inspiring. She accepts her size and her beauty as her own, which is exactly why I’m featuring her on my site. I feel with her testimony, not only will more Full figured women see a martyr that they can relate to, but find some of the characteristics that should have within themselves. I first met Domonique at the Curves at Full Throttle Fashion show in 2010; she was promoting her lingerie line, Empress Lingerie. I credit her as being the first person who made me walk out in public in a lingerie ensemble, one of the most exhilarating experiences in my life. Back then, I had no idea she modeled but I could tell that she appreciated her curves and wanted to ensure that the girls wearing her clothes did too. I wasn’t scheduled to walk in her set that day, but after seeing me during rehearsal, she kindly asked me to try on one of her pieces and of course, I agreed. It was amazing, but not half as amazing as her contribution to this year’s Tropical Diva Fashion show. In this show, she wasn’t the designer but the fierce runway vixen, strutting down the catwalk with her God-given voluptuous frame, advocating for the “aboveaverage” woman in us all. A breath-taking and inspiring experience, I couldn’t wait to feature this week’s beauty for some bona-fide motivation. I asked Domonique what inspired her to start Empress Lingerie and what can Full Figured women gain from shopping there? She answered, “As a “real size” model, I was inspired to start Empress Lingerie for woman like me, the above average woman! As full-figured women, many times we find ourselves searching high and low for that perfect piece of garment, particularly lingerie that makes us feel sexy inside and out. We have what you are looking for! Never again will you have to ask, “Does this make me look fat?” When purchasing from Empress Lingerie, our mission and goal is to provide you with pieces that are flattering and add that extra pizzazz, to your sleepwear/costume collection! We are also currently working on swimsuit line, that too promising to please and caress each and every curve of a woman’s physique.”

8|Page

The message she wants people to gain from her testimony and her online store, Empress Lingerie is simple. She wants people to “Give their Curves the Royal Treatment”. Embrace who they are and never settle for anything but the best. Shoot for the moon and should you miss, the least you will do will find yourself amongst the stars. Dream big!! Now of course, with any positive endeavor, there is always someone or something trying to stop you on your road to success. However, a vibrant personality like Domonique won’t allow obstacles to deter her. When asked what obstacles she had to face and how she overcame them, she answered “There have been obstacles at every turn of my journey; People telling me that I was not good enough, too big to be a model, that I “just didn’t have the look.” My strength came in not believing those lies. I used all those negative comments as fuel to propel me to the next level. Yes, you are not going to be what everyone is looking for and will experience quite a few doors close and people that say “No”, but the reality is that all you need is one “Yes” to catapult you/your career to the next level.” So what are some of the greatest accomplishments about what she does? Domonique says, “Every opportunity, appearance, interview has been a great one! One to network, gain exposure and let the creative juices flow. Recently, I have had the opportunity to be apart of FFFweek (NY), Tropical Divas (VA), 17…Days of Fashion (PA), The Philadelphia Fashion Collection (PA), as well as, working with esteemed plus models and organizations, such as Terri Murray, Nicole Zepeda, Anthony Henderson and 4H4 Awareness.

The lessons I’ve learned have been to be present in the moment. Sometimes you must go out of your “comfort zone” and push yourself to the limit, while also standing your ground and not compromising your beliefs, morals and values. Also, ask questions, exchange emails and phone numbers, knowing that advice, opinions and opportunities are abundant and sometimes it’s all about who you know, as well as, being in the right place at the right time.”

I am so proud to have the opportunity to feature such a dynamic personality. Her attitude and her perseverance is the reason why much success is coming her way now and in the future. So what advice can she give for other up and coming Full Figured Models and Entrepreneurs? Humbly she states, “My advice would be to create your own path and destiny. Modeling and owning a business is hard work, but you have to set yourself apart from others, creating a competitive advantage. Know that there is room for everyone and you should focus on your goals and what you set out to do. What is meant for you will be.” So what’s in your destiny?

Being Ashamed Of Your Weight By Tabitha Onyango

Being overweight is very difficult and can take a serious toll on your selfesteem. It can cause depression, social isolations, consumed over one’s body image and more. Women are mostly the ones who are consumed by their body weight and go to great strides to change their self-image. But when does being overweight become a problem? Although we are a magazine that is about uplifting and inspiring full figured women to love themselves for who they are we are also about being healthy and encourage full figured women to not allow their weight to become a burden. We as women always feel that we have a problem with our weight. We feel that we are either too big or too skinny and we allow the views of others to dictate our happiness. Being overweight is a problem when it starts to affect your health. Meaning, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, ect. Are and can be problems of being overweight (although cases have shown that even individuals who are not overweight still suffer from the same ailments). It’s important to get out and exorcise. Exorcise does not have to be rigorous in order for it to work. Simple exorcise such as walking around the block, or your yard, or even to the end of the driveway can work and If possible, try to walk for a minimum of 5 minutes per day. If you can’t walk everyday then try to walk at least 3 times out of a week. Changing eating habits can also impact your weight greatly. Start cooking more at home and eat out less. Fast food is one of the major causes of obesity in America. Most importantly start loving yourself for who you are. If you don’t love yourself then you can make all the changes you wish but it will not help one single bit if you do not like who you see in the mirror. God bless and may God continue to bless you and guide you on your journey to good health & selflove! 19 | P a g e

It’s Time for ManTalk 5 Essential Touches That Will Keep Your Man-Child In Check! By: How To Get The Man Of Your Dream 5 essential touches you need in your Relationship Tool Box to attract and keep the Man of Your Dreams (MOYD). Learning how to touch your man is essential to your relationship’s success, growth and development. Many women do not know how to touch a man. Learning this skill is essential. Touching is a skill that, for the most part, has been forgotten and replaced with shopping at the mall. Most women just assume that because they are beautiful and smart, have a great body, know how to dress and have a great job that they have the full package men are looking for. But they have no clue how to properly touch a man. You can only be good at what you spend your time practicing. What men truly desire is as simple as being touched the right way. Unfortunately, women’s failure to understand this will lead men to naturally seek the attention of other women who have mastered this sought-after skill. Ladies, this cannot be purchased with a credit card at the local shopping mall. It can only come from within you. This is often the first reason why men cheat. Most men can be quite cowardly, afraid to hurt your feelings by telling you that you are lacking in some area of the relationship. They would rather avoid an argument and remain silent. Silence leads to an eventual separation. Touch is obviously not just about sex, and it should not be something you do once a day. It should be done by both parties throughout the day. The five most-desired touches, according to our survey, are:

21 | P a g e

1. Hugs and kisses 2. Massage 3. Playful or tickling touch 4. Foreplay 5. Sexual touch

Hugs & Kisses When you wake up with the MOYD, your first thought should be to kiss and hug him, even if he is asleep, and give thanks for having the MOYD. These are the little things you often take for granted but that will carry your love through to eternity. We guarantee that this one act, if practiced daily, will greatly improve and in some cases even heal a broken relationship. Kisses and hugs are FREE, but will set the tone for the day and your relationship. Oh, so you don’t believe us? Try it for 30 days, and we guarantee it will bring you and your mate closer together and greater happiness. Look at each hug and kiss like a bank deposit into your relationship savings account. Each hug and kiss will be stored in the MOYD’s internal memory bank. It will also show him that you are thinking about him first, even before your favorite pot of morning coffee. It’s amazing that this one act costs you nothing, yet so many women and men fail to do it. Practicing this one act every morning will greatly improve your relationship. If you are not doing this, start now. It’s FREE and can only be given from your heart. This is what makes it so special. Practicing giving a hug and a kiss daily will not only help you keep the MOYD, but it will help you constantly attract positive people. The energy you put out leaves a blueprint that you cannot see but remains present at all times. So practice, practice, practice and remember the old saying: “A hug and kiss a day will keep the relationship doctor away.”

Massage A woman shows she has no clue how to touch a man when she massages one side of his body and leaves the other. What? Who does that? We know you may be a little guilty, but don’t be embarrassed. We are here to help you fix the problem before it’s too late. Knowing how to properly touch a man is a reflection of your past experience or lack thereof. If you went and paid for a massage and they only did one half of your body, you would probably never return to that massage parlor and leave feeling very unbalanced. A woman who unknowingly half-massages the MOYD will leave him feeling the same way: IRRITATED. He will be screaming inside, “What about the other side of my body, and how come she does not know to do this?” You’d best believe that Becky down the street and around the 22 | P a g e

corner knows this most sought-after skill. So you have the good job, but Becky has the skills of touch. She is good because she has lots of practice and you do not. Always remember the objective of any relationship is to have balance. The probability of a man leaving or cheating on you with another woman will greatly increase if you fail to understand how to perfect the basic skills of touch. Knowing how to touch a man is the equivalent of knowing how to speak to the man of your dreams. They both carry equal weight and are essential tools you need for your relationship kit. What’s even more interesting is that none of the reasons a man will leave or cheat on a woman cost her anything to learn. They are all obtained by your desire to learn and improve yourself and your relationship with the MOYD.

Playful Touch, E.G., Tickling Tickle your man; grab his booty in the bathroom or kitchen when he is washing the dishes. Let him know you like it. Your man does not have booty? Okay, no excuses. Get creative and pick another part of his body and grab it, rub it, or… you know what we mean. Have fun touching him all day, every day. If you do not naturally possess these skills, work on them every day by practicing. He will love it and it will be a gold star added to your already-vast repertoire of skills in the art of touch.

Foreplay “Play” is the key word. Learn to play and have fun with the MOYD. Put on something sexy, wrestle, tussle, bite, grab, run, get caught, throw a pillow, put up a good fight and then give in. Act like a kid with an adult twist at the end. Men love the chase. Foreplay is not only an essential element to get you excited but to keep the MOYD excited about you– not about Becky down the street and around the corner.

Sexual Touching Not knowing how to sexually touch your man is a relationship deal breaker that will eventually lead to your man cheating and leaving the relationship altogether. When you were spending all of your valuable time shopping, your friend and competitor who was eyeing your man was practicing the art of touch. The real skills to attract and keep the MOYD all come from within you. If you had nothing, since you were born naked and without a name, you would still have everything you need to find and keep the MOYD. How do you think Cavewoman Jane did it? We repeat, 99 percent of everything you will ever need to find and keep the man of your dreams is already within you. Let us explain more.

24 | P a g e

Oral sex comes from within you. It is your tongue that must be used. You unfortunately cannot borrow your friend’s tongue. A hug and a kiss comes from within you. A massage comes from within you. Whether you’re attentive or not comes from within you, e.g., “Hey girl, I love those shoes,” “Hey girl, your nails are so cute.” It’s all your choice to notice, act and pay attention. It all comes from within you. If you know how to touch a man, he will literally buy the shoes for you–“What size did you say you were?” Many women focus on the external without realizing it is what’s on the inside that will keep the MOYD coming back. This is the true difference between wifey and the booty-call girl. The wifey obviously has it together for a man to want to commit to her for the rest of his life, giving up all other women. Ninety-nine percent of all the wifey’s mojo and secrets to attract and keep the MOYD comes from within her. So ladies, if you do not know how to sexually touch or interact with your man, learn–if you plan to keep him. Men are simple. We need food, water and to be touched in the right way–all day, every day. If you understand this one basic principle–knowing how to touch the MOYD–you should have no problem attracting and keeping the MOYD. Why do you think men go to strip clubs? Because these women have mastered the illusion of knowing how to touch your man the way he desires to be touched. It would not be too difficult for the stripper to temporarily or permanently steal your man, just by understanding how to touch him. Men are attracted by what they see, but are kept in a relationship by basic skills like touch. There was a woman I once dated who was not a very honest person, but because she knew how to touch, rub and bathe me, many of her transgressions were washed away, so do not be afraid to get freaky and let your hair down. Remember, some women want everything but do not give anything, and when you practice not giving, you become and receive what you practice.

13 Tips to Building Self Esteem By Jae Song & Tina Su Courtesy of: Think Simple Now “People with high self-esteem are the most desired, and desirable people in society.” ~ Brian Tracy Can you recall the last time you were in an emotional slump, such that your beliefs in yourself and your abilities were slipping away? How can we maintain the beliefs we have in ourselves, such that we can live with less anxiety and more joy? Just imagine the things we would accomplish if we had the belief that we could do absolutely anything, especially if we could maintain a level of self-esteem that no circumstance could shake. What would you be doing? Self-esteem comes from positive self-imaging, and it is something that we proactively build for ourselves. Self-esteem doesn’t happen while we wait passively. When we leave it up to external factors, we build our self-esteem on sandy ground. What we want is a rock-solid foundation, and this only comes from building it within. Throughout our daily routines, our minds are very good at picking up all the things we’ve done wrong, and it makes sure we are aware of them. With such a counter-productive force at work, we can benefit greatly by regularly working towards establishing and building our own self-image. I’ve learned that the way we view ourselves directly affects everything we do. People with high selfesteem get along easily with others, rarely get sick, and seem to have high energy reserves. Also, their high level of self-esteem corresponds with their high level of productivity, capacity of happiness and state of well-being. A Closer Look Self-esteem = how much we like ourselves. 28 | P a g e

How much we like ourselves = level of self-dominion. What is self-dominion? It is our ability to get ourselves to actually do, what we want ourselves to do; in other words, self-discipline and self-trust. A person who has dominion over themselves has self-integrity – staying true to their words and commitments. Every time we fail to listen to our inner voice, and do not take action in something that we need to, we lose trust with ourselves and our abilities. This lack of self-faith continues to spiral downwardly as we flounder to fulfill more commitments. 13 Tips to Building Self-Esteem In order to build your self-esteem, you must establish yourself as the master of your own life. Every single minute of your life is a moment you can change for the better. If you’ve been delaying some action for half the day, don’t dwell on it or beat yourself up for it, shift your focus to the present moment and what you can do right now. Start with the smallest or the most important task. The following are tips to help build continuous upward momentum towards higher self-esteem.

1. Start Small Start with something you can do immediately and easily. When we start with small successes, we build momentum to gain more confidence in our abilities. Each completed task, regardless of how small, is a building block towards a more confident you. What are some small actions you can take immediately to demonstrate that you are capable of achieving goals you’ve set for yourself? For example, clean your desk, organize your papers, or pay all your bills.

2. Create a Compelling Vision Use the power of your imagination. Create an image of yourself as the confident and self-assured person you aspire to become. When you are this person, how will you feel? How will others perceive you? What does your body language look like? How will you talk? See these clearly in your mind’s eye, with your eyes closed. Feel the feelings, experience being and seeing things from that person’s perspective. Practice doing this for 10 minutes every morning. Put on music in the background that either relaxes you, or excites you. When you are done, write a description of this person and all the attributes you’ve observed. 29 | P a g e

3. Socialize Get out of the house or setup a lunch date with a friend. Socializing with others will give us opportunities to connect with other people, and practice our communication and interpersonal skills.

4. Do Something that Scares You As with all skills, we get better with practice and repetition. The more often we proactively do things that scare us, the less scary these situations will seem, and eventually will be rid of that fear.

5. Do Something You Are Good At What are you especially good at or enjoy doing? Regularly doing things that you are good at reinforces your belief in your abilities and strengths. I (Tina) can be very efficient with completing errands or administrative work. Whenever I have a few hours filled with ways in which I’ve maximized my time, I feel highly productive and this boosts the confidence have in my abilities as an organized and efficient person.

6. Set Goals According to a study done at Virginia Tech, 80% of Americans say they don’t have goals. And the people who regularly write down their goals earn nine times as much over their lifetime as people who don’t. By setting goals that are clear and actionable, you have a clear target of where you want to be. When you take action towards that goal, you’ll build more confidence and self-esteem in your abilities to follow through.

7. Help Others Feel Good About Themselves Help somebody or teach them something. When you help other people feel better about themselves and like themselves more, it will make you feel good about yourself. See what you can do to make others feel good or trigger them to smile. Maybe giving them a genuine compliment, helping them with something or telling them what you admire about them.

8. Get Clarity on Life Areas Get clarity on the life area that needs the most attention. Your self-esteem is the average of your selfconcept in all the major areas of your life. Write down all the major categories of your life, e.g., health, relationships, finance, etc. Then rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 in each area. Work on the lowest 30 | P a g e

numbered category first, unless they are all even. Each area affects the other areas. The more you build up each area of your life, the higher your overall self-esteem.

9. Create a Plan Having a goal alone won’t do much. Get clarity on your action items. One of the biggest reasons people get lazy is because they don’t have a plan to achieve their goals. They don’t know what the next step is and start to wander off randomly. When you’re baking a cake, it’s a lot easier to follow a set of clear instructions, than randomly throwing ingredients together.

10. Get Motivated Read something inspirational, listen to something empowering, talk to someone who can uplift our spirits, who can motivate us to become a better person, to live more consciously, and to take proactive steps towards creating a better life for ourselves and our families.

11. Get External Compliments As funny as this point suggests, go find a friend or family member and ask them “What do you like about me?” “What are my strengths?” or “What do you love about me?” We will often value other people’s opinions more than our own. We are the best at beating ourselves up for things not done well, and we are the worst at recognizing what we’ve done well in. Hearing from another person our strengths and positive qualities helps to build a more positive image of ourselves.

12. Affirmations & Introspection Use affirmations, but in the right way. Some people think that when they’re in a slump, using positive affirmations will help them get out of it. I love affirmations, but I’ve realized you have to use them in the right way. Sitting on your couch and saying “I am highly motivated and productive” does nothing. Say something like “I am sitting here being very unproductive right now, is this the ideal me? What would be my best self?” Your affirmations have to be the TRUTH. Once you’re honest, take the first step towards doing the thing, no matter how small.

13. No More Comparisons Stop comparing yourself to other people. Low self-esteem stems from the feeling of being inferior. For example, if you were the only person in the world, do you think you could have low self-esteem? Self31 | P a g e

esteem only comes into the picture when there are other people around us and we perceive that we are inferior. Don’t worry about what your neighbor is doing. Accept that it’ll serve you more to just go down your own path at your own pace rather than to compare yourself. Pretend you’re starting over and begin immediately with the smallest step forward. Self-esteem comes from self-dominion. The more power you have in getting yourself to take the right actions, the more self-esteem you will have. Your level of self-esteem affects your happiness and everything you do.

BEFORE YOU START MAKING CHANGES FIRST ACCEPT YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE, THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN YOU LOVE THE CHANGES YOU MAKE IN YOUR LIFE!

TNS.COM: Do You have Any Other Experience In The Fashion Industry (Writing, Photography, Marketing, Etc.)? NICKEE MACK: I am a makeup artist, amateur photographer, show host, creative director for shoots, wardrobe stylist, I promote, market, and advertise for my own brand. I used to write but, honey people don’t appreciate that so I had to move past that venture, it's hard, takes time, and I hate to have my work chopped and screwed to fit, Leave it as it is! Lol! TNS.COM: *What Is Fun & Rewarding About Modeling? NICKEE MACK: Fun and rewarding hmmm EVERYTHING! I REALLY LOVE IT! The good, bad, ugly and GREAT of the modeling industry! I dislike the CLICKS, and people not giving models a real opportunity, the slave labor, models having to be on set 8 hours ahead of a show and not get paid or fed. The fact that I own a modeling agency and designers go around me to book models so they don't have to pay them, or don't respect me 36 | P a g e

enough to do proper business, or simply lack the knowledge of knowing how to do business because some models don't know their worth, or they do and just don't care. Models not caring enough to stick together and demand pay, or are not loyal enough to their agencies and go off halfcocked but expect someone to clean up their mess after they get caught up! Models in the business for 6 months and they know everything, models not knowing they don't need managers, they need agents there is a difference!! Oh yeah Im going in now!!! Lol! If we don't learn to stick together and work together we will always be on the bottom! The USERY (Yep, another made up word) mentality has got to stop! TNS.COM: What Advice Do You Have For Other Aspiring Models? NICKEE MACK: My advice for aspiring models INVEST IN YOUR OWN SUCCESS! Preparing for a shoot: pack the night before, drink plenty of water all week, exfoliate, and get plenty of rest the night before! I love working with photographers, even if they are newbies I love getting and being creative. Confidence makes you stylish, no matter what way you look at it! I have seen some folks wear some hideous outfits, but babyyyyyyy their confidence makes them wear it well! TNS.COM: What Does Fashion Mean To You? NICKEE MACK: Fashion means Vivid Expression with Unlimited Possibilities! A Good Model is consistently learning, fine tuning and improving, a bad model thinks she knows all! The Fashion Industry needs to broaden its mind and be more open to REAL BEAUTY BEING REAL LIFE! We’re not children anymore, the FANTASY IS OVER! TNS.COM: How Do You Handle being On The Runway? NICKEE MACK: When on the runway you must always think you are in in front of a camera, the way you stop, turn, pose, move your arm, or head is the same as sitting in the studio or on location, YOU ARE AN ACTRESS AT ALL TIMES!

Makeup That Makes Dark Skin Glow By: Del Sandeen of Love To Know Makeup

Get a great glow for dark skin with makeup.By Del SandeenIf a fresh, dewy complexion is important to you, makeup that makes dark skin glow can give your skin the iridescent quality you're after.

Prep First Before you apply makeup that makes dark skin glow, you need to prep first. Good skin is the best foundation. You should practice a regular skincare routine that works with your particular skin type. You should also follow a healthy eating plan and drink plenty of water. Great complexions begin on the inside. The more you take care of what goes into your body, the less makeup you'll have to apply to achieve a glowing look. After your skin is cleansed, apply a moisturizer--yes, even if you have oily skin. Moisturizer helps your makeup go on evenly. Makeup that Makes Dark Skin Glow: Colors Your skin tone may range from olive to chocolate and be considered "dark." There are makeup colors that will flatter any complexion; the trick is choosing which ones are made just for you. You'll likely find a full range of cosmetic colors in nearly every major brand, from mainstream names that cater to all ethnic groups to lines geared toward women of color. The following colors are great for African American skin tones as well as Indian or Hispanic complexions that are tan or darker. Bronze or Gold Bronze is an equal opportunity glowing color. It works for eye shadow, blush and allover bronzers. Bronze is a strong color and should be applied to one area. If you wear it as an eye color, sweep it across your eyelids and almost up to your brows, adding a touch of lighter shadow beneath your eyebrow's arch as a highlighter. If you wear bronze as a cheek color, use a fluffy blush brush to place it on the apples of 46 | P a g e

your cheeks. The darker your skin, the more bronze will contrast with your complexion, making it perfect for nighttime looks. Gold is another color that will add a healthy glow to your skin. If your complexion is more olive or tan, gold will provide a subtle glow. Very dark skin will enjoy a dramatic look from gold powders.

Pink Some women with darker skin feel that pink isn't an option in makeup colors for them, but this is outdated advice. Just make sure you choose the pink that flatters your skin tone best. Women with warm undertones should choose pinks that have flecks of orange or gold in them, or pinks that are yellow-based. Women with cool complexions will look best in pink that contains undertones of blue or purple. The good thing is that pink is a versatile color. It ranges from pale to deep, so there is a pink out there for everyone. Tan skins look good in rosy pinks, while deep, dark complexions can wear colors such as fuchsia that might overwhelm lighter skin.

Peach

Peach is a pretty, subtle color that brings tan skin to life. It works on eyes, cheeks and lips. You can wear it all over for a natural look. Top a pretty peach lipstick with clear gloss for a shiny, inviting lip look.

Choosing Glowing Makeup When choosing makeup to give your skin a healthy glow, mineral makeup often has the soft, iridescent qualities you're looking for. You can choose mineral foundations, blush or loose powders. Shop for makeup that bills itself as iridescent. For some cosmetic brands, the word to look for might be "pearlescent." For others, it could be "shimmer" or "sparkle." Just skip the matte makeup, which is designed to look flat, if you're after a glowing look.

Tips for Wearing

Makeup that makes your skin glow can be subtle or dramatic. •For daytime, choose one feature to highlight, but make sure it's suitable for work. Anything too glossy or shiny should be saved for nighttime. •At night, you can choose those deep colors and heavier applications that are too much for day. •If nothing else, dip a fluffy makeup brush into a loose mineral powder and apply it all over your face. This gives your skin a beautiful glow all by itself.
