South Africa versus the rest of the world
do not have access to ARVs
South Africa has the largest antiretroviral programme in the world. Despite this, almost half the people in need of antiretroviral treatment still do not receive it. Given the late rollout of antiretrovirals in the public health system, South Africa has made impressive progress in scaling up access to treatment. More effort is still needed to provide for universal, reliable treatment.
