Purpose: To provide financial education materials and information to students (back-to-school resource for new and returning students) Event Background: Beta Alpha Psi has conducted this event for the past two years to help address the need for personal finance information by students. The event originally began in the Spring but moved to the Fall to capture those students who are new to USF and the Tampa area. Beta Alpha Psi students are promoting the event to students throughout campus with a focus on freshman. What to Bring: Financial literacy resource materials – aimed at college students. Possible topics include: managing debt, managing their credit rating, savings, the cost of student loans, creating a budget, insurance, investing, financial planning, buying a car, identify theft, and more Marketing materials – Please note that this is an educational and not a marketing event. However, for example, it is very appropriate for banks or credit unions to bring savings and banking information as some of these students are unbanked or have accounts at banks not near USF. Credit card solicitation is not appropriate with the change in credit card rules.
Giveaways – fun things from your organization that have “staying power” after the event and to draw students to your table. Table top display – table runner, signage, poster board display, etc. Event Contacts: Katie Fitzgerald, BAP Financial Literacy Fair Chair klfitzge@mail.usf.edu Professor Jennifer Cainas, BAP Faculty Advisor jcainas@coba.usf.edu Brenda Hubbard, Florida Institute of CPAs hubbardb@ficpa.org
