Page watched closely while Ada’s daddy held her close and sang his favorite song to her. He used a soft, quiet voice and looked right in her eyes while they cuddled. Page could tell that Ada liked that very much.

Baby Ada and Page listened while her grandma read a book of poems to her. It didn’t matter that Ada didn’t understand the words, she liked hearing her grandmother’s voice and being close to her.

Page Pause Speaks or expresses thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly. What songs and nursery rhymes did you enjoy when you were little? Who sang them to you? Start telling your baby those stories now, and continue as they get older.

In fact, Ada really liked just being in the room with her family and listening to the sounds of their voices as they talked. Her family was already helping Ada learn a lot of new words.

When baby Ada started to cry, Page noticed that her dad picked her up right away. Page wasn’t sure what was making Ada upset, but her dad was able to figure it out after just a little while.

Page Pause Speaks or expresses thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly. Because babies aren’t able to talk, they cry to express their feelings of discomfort. Help your baby feel safe and secure and learn to trust you by responding to her cries.2
