THIRD DRAWER DOWN SIGNATURE COLLECTIONS Since 2003 Third Drawer Down Studio has collaborated with the most prominent modern and contemporary artists of our time by translating their artwork into limited edition or open edition objects. From our humble beginnings of producing limited edition tea towels as prints that questioned what made art to be art, we have expanded our collections to include homewares, games and accessories. These are distributed in leading galleries and institutions worldwide. Third Drawer Down Studio collaborations include exclusive collections by Louise Bourgeois, Ai Weiwei, David Shrigley, Lawrence Weiner, Guerrilla Girls, Chris Ofili, Kiki Smith amongst many others.
We are proud to expand on our collections with iconic Australian artists, and celebrate the joy experienced collaborating with artists close to home.

CHARLES BLACKMAN Third Drawer Down Studio in partnership with Heide Museum of Modern Art present their Charles Blackman collection of functional art products. Charles Blackman is one of the most important living Australian artists and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to Australian art in 1977. He earned critical acclaim for his early Schoolgirl and Alice series, the latter of which was based on the character from the fantasy novel by Lewis Carroll. Through these works, Blackman displayed a talent for depicting events from his subjects’ point of view, often creating compositions with odd angles, washed-out colours, and isolated environments. “I believe an artist should be like a tall white stallion running free through the hillsides never fenced in, wondering and wandering” - Charles Blackman, 1977

DEL KATHRYN BARTON -
Del Kathryn Barton is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading figurative painters of her generation and has twice been awarded the prestigious Archibald Prize. Barton graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales in 1993. Barton’s pictures present a world where everything is fecund and alive. No part of the picture plane is without adornment, and no figure or creature is less charmed than any other. Third Drawer Down Studio are thrilled to have collaborated with Del Kathryn Barton on two best-selling collections, with a view of an ever developing and growing collaborative relationship.

JON CAMPBELL Jon Campbell’s mix of warmth, grit and humour make him one of Australia’s most exciting contemporary artists. Paintings, cut-outs, banners, neon signs and placards by Campbell celebrate the daily life of the Australian suburb as significant in the making of who we are. His works express a masculine view of the Australian suburban experience, and demonstrate his love of vernacular, popular music and culture, design, sport, advertising and youth culture. He takes materials from the every day and assembles them to create his own sense and meaning. Campbell’s works are often loud and boisterous and, like great pop music, one can’t help but love them.

TOM POLO -
Tom Polo is an Australian visual artist currently travelling and mastering his craft. His recent practice uses text, humour and extensions of portraiture to engage with a corrosive anxiety about the human condition. Through painting, performance and installation Polo explores contemporary society’s inherent desire for success and hints at our ever present failings.
PATRICK FRANCIS Patrick Francis’ paintings explore aspects of his personal experience, resulting in distilled images that represent various portraits and still-life installations. Often utilising acrylic on paper as his chosen medium, Francis uses bold colour as an expressive tool, focusing his and the viewers attention on key elements in his paintings. Patrick Francis has had work in several private and public collections and was a featured artist for Arts Project Australia in the 2012 Melbourne Art Fair at the Royal Exhibition Building.

THIRD DRAWER DOWN STUDIO We are three things; a design studio, a wholesaler and a store Our focus is on the very essence of collaboration and the challenges posed by cultural retailing. Everything that comes out of Third Drawer Down Studio bears the hallmarks of artistic integrity and functionality. Established in 2003, our studio has collaborated with over 150 contemporary artists to create licensed objects for everyday use. Some of our collaborations thus far, include Louise Bourgeois, Ai Weiwei and David Shrigley. Our extensive range of licensed objects are available in leading design and museum stores around the world. If you are interested in becoming a stockist please head here.
By 2006, the studio began making bespoke products for such prestigious institutions as the Tate, MoMA and Whitney. This point represented the realisation of the studio’s vision to bridge the gap between artists, the cultural institutions that represent them and ultimately to extend the artist’s story in a sensitive yet commercial manner. We are always open to talking about collaborations that you have in the pipeline or simply having a chat about an idea that is just taking form. The design, licensing and distribution of bespoke cultural products is in our blood. Our website showcases more than 10 years of where our studio has come from and we hope that you’ll be a part of where we are going.
