Asai, Motofumi

My name is Asai Motofumi. My name comes from a doctor who my parents respect. My parents named me with the hope that I would become a good medical worker. This is why I decided to be a pharmacist.

I want to give a meaningful name to my child. This is because meaningful name reminds children of parental love. From meaningful name, children can feel that their parents named them after a great deal of thought. They can also feel that their parents cherished them when they were baby. For these reasons, I think good name is not unique name but meaningful name.

If I name my son, I’ll name him 裕介 (Yusuke). 裕 (yu) is used for my brother’s name. I like him very much, so I want to use this character for my son’s name. 裕 (yu) means enriched spirit. 介 (suke) means helping other people. I want my son to help other people by thoughtful acts. This is why I decided this name. If I name my daughter, I’ll name her 志帆 (Shiho). 志 (shi) means belief to achieve something. 帆 (ho) means sail. I want my daughter to find something what she really wants to do and achieve it, as if a sailing ship navigates the sea freely. This is why I decided this name. Name is first present for children, so my future self will think a lot about it.
