Meet Us in The Land

Dubbed “the center of the world” by the Wall Street Journal and a must visit destination by Travel & Leisure, The Land’s lakefront setting, walkable downtown, vibrant cultural assets and authentic hospitality are just a few of the city’s highlights.

As host to events of all sizes in 2024 – from the record-setting NCAA Women’s Final Four to ASAE’s Annual Meeting & Expo –Cleveland continues to surprise first-time and even returning visitors.

Underpinning our evolution as a premier meetings destination is nearly $500 million in infrastructure investment:

• After a $49 million renovation, the LEED Gold-certified Huntington Convention Center offers new flexible meeting spaces, an expanded Atrium ballroom and a stunning rooftop terrace in the center of the city.

• The beautifully restored, 491-room Hotel Cleveland blends historic charm with modern luxury following $90 million of updates.

• Expected to be completed in 2026, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s $135-million expansion will nearly double the museum’s size – including new event and presentation space.

• And, the $150-million renovation of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History creates a state-of-the-art learning hub and equally stunning event venue.

Our city thrives on the energy of big events, and Destination Cleveland’s team is second to none in providing exceptional support and hospitality.

We invite you to visit and discover why The Land is the perfect place to host your next event.

Sincerely,

The Land

Get familiar with why Cleveland is the reason for your next meeting

The Cleveland Advantage

10 Reasons to Meet in Cleveland

1. wORLD-CLASS EXPERIENCES WITHOUT THE WORLD-CLASS EGO

Downtown Cleveland has everything a meeting needs to succeed — affordable hotels, posh event spaces, famous restaurants, award-winning breweries, national attractions and an everyone’s-welcome attitude. How do we know? The experts have spoken: Cleveland was named to Travel + Leisure’s recent “Best Places to Travel” list, noting the city is “set to shine, thanks to national and international events.” Speaking of lists, Cleveland’s Hyatt Regency was named one of “The Best Hotel Lobbies in the World” by Architectural Digest.

2. tHE LAND OF BIG EVENTS

From the 2016 Republican National Convention to the 2024 NCAA Women’s Final Four, big things have been happening in Cleveland over the last decade—and they’re not stopping any time soon. The Rock Hall induction ceremony will return this fall (as it does every three years), and both the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) are hosting large-scale events here in the coming months.

North Coast Harbor

3.EXPANDED CONVENTION COMPLEX

The Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland is expanding its footprint in new and exciting ways! Having absorbed the nearby former Center for Global Health Innovation space, the convention center will now offer a bigger ballroom, an outdoor terrace with plum city views, upgraded restrooms and new escalators for easier event flow. It’s a $49 million investment that is already paying off in spades.

4. HOTELS ARE EVERYWHERE

Greater Cleveland as a whole has nearly 25,000 guestrooms across all major hotel brands, representing segments from luxury resorts to boutique business accommodations. Downtown Cleveland now offers nearly 5,000 guestrooms in 20 hotels. Add in the flexible meeting spaces and unique dining spots, and these hotels become destinations in themselves. Meeting spaces from 10,000 to 60,000 square feet can range from traditional boardroom seating to AV- and techenabled theaters, auditoriums and ballrooms.

5. MEMORABLE VENUES

Cleveland is full of dynamic gathering spots that can empower your meeting with a motif. Classy galas or weddings would be perfect for the Cleveland Museum of Art The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has multiple rental options, including the entire museum. The country’s second-largest performing arts center, Playhouse Square, offers nine theaters of various sizes and one outdoor event space for rental. From Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers, to The Agora, this city has great venues that offer unforgettable experiences.

6. GETTING HERE IS EASY

Cleveland sits within a 500-mile radius of nearly half of the U.S. population — only six hours from cities like Chicago, New York and Philadelphia. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is 12 miles from Downtown and offers an abundance of nonstop flights around the country and internationally via most major carriers. Getting here is super cheap too. CLE offers an abundance of low-cost flights due to new low-cost carriers and increased competition. We are also easily accessible by AMTRAK train, or bus, with both Greyhound and Megabus terminals close to major hotels.

The Cleveland Advantage

7. GETTING AROUND TOWN IS EASIER

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) links busy travelers to timely destinations. Four RTA rail lines and two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines snake all over the city and to the airport. Once Downtown, take advantage of scooter rentals and the city’s RTA free trolley route. Of course, most folks just walk. Cleveland has one of the most pedestrianfriendly downtown areas in America. Strollers can also take solace in the downtown ambassadors that keep Cleveland streets safe and clean, while acting as mobile concierges.

8.PLENTY OF FOOD AND FUN

From business luncheons to wedding banquets, Northeast Ohio is full of excellent bistros, clubs, cantinas and eateries that specialize in large parties and flavorful food. Food Network-famous chefs like Rocco Whalen, celebrated restaurants like Cordelia and popular food trucks like the Manna Truck all call Cleveland home. The West Side Market and Great Lakes Brewing Co. are cornerstones in Cleveland’s culinary and craft beer movement, while the JACK Cleveland Casino, Downtown clubs and indie music venues provide a 24/7 nightlife.

9. THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND

From AsiaTown to Hingetown, Cleveland’s diverse cultures are on full display throughout the city— inviting locals and visitors to immerse and engage. Destinations such as the Cleveland Cultural Gardens provide a striking and scenic representation of our city’s various ethnic communities, while Cleveland’s queer community convenes in spaces such as the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland and Studio West 117. Whether hoisting a rainbow flag high at Pride in the CLE or participating in the MetroHealth Juneteenth Freedom Fest, you’ll ind ample opportunity to be an ally in The Land.

10. Great Lake Adventures

Lake Erie provides some of the best opportunities for aquatic entertainment in the United States. Commission a group adventure with BrewBoat CLE at Channel Park Marina on Whiskey Island, enjoy drinks at Edgewater Beach House all summer long, or get all wet steelhead fishing in tributaries like Vermilion River, Rocky River and Conneaut Creek. Even Downtown, behind the Rock Hall, Oasis Marinas at North Coast Harbor is a 53-slip transient marina, which provides kayaks and boat slips for rent.

Going Up

Sherwin-Williams is rounding the bend on its glossy new Downtown global headquarters. Set for completion by the end of 2024, the one-million-square-foot complex will include a 36-story skyscraper, multi-level parking garage and a two-story pavilion designed to be the “front porch to Public Square.” Cleveland Clinic is also continually expanding its presence, with current projects including a new Neurological Institute on its main campus and an expansion for its Cole Eye Institute. The Clinic has also formed a strategic research partnership with Canon Inc. to create a comprehensive imaging research center (following the Japanese tech giant’s formation of its Canon Medical Systems subsidiary in Cleveland in 2022). ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is dropping the needle on a massive $135 million expansion. Plugging in the new wing means more space for concerts, traveling exhibits and amped-up artifacts from the archives.

Ready For Takeoff

The $2+ billion glow-up of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport kicks off in 2025. Though the project is slated to span 20 years, its initial phase will have an immediate impact—creating more spacious ticketing and passenger gate areas; an upgraded security checkpoint to shorten wait times; and additional public parking capacity. In the meantime, it’s easier than ever to get here, thanks to expanded air service on numerous airlines. Take advantage of 10 new direct flights on Frontier Airlines (30 total destinations out of CLE) or hop aboard newer nonstop flights from places like Seattle (Alaska Airlines) and Dublin (Aer Lingus). Urban Dwelling

Downtown Cleveland isn’t just a place to visit, as its population has increased by 22 percent in the past decade. By 2032, there will be an estimated 26,000 people living in the city center— and from repurposed historic buildings to new construction, they’ll have no shortage of options. Redevelopment will begin this year on the 1964-built Erieview Tower, set to include both W Residences and a W Hotel. Nearby on Erieview Plaza, the former Ohio Bell headquarters is now The Bell upscale apartment complex. On the new construction front, the 23-story City Club Tower features a rooftop pool, doggie daycare and numerous restaurants. Down in the Flats, plans are taking shape for redevelopment of the Scranton Peninsula, and a former parking garage will transform into the Ten60 Bolivar apartments. BY VINCE GUERRIERI

PROGRESSIVE FIELD

New digs are on deck for Progressive Field, which plans to unveil its continued $202 million renovation for Opening Day 2025. In the works are new seats, a private lounge behind home plate, a beer/food hall and open-air, terracedticketed boxes.

CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

Transformation is waiting in the (new) wings at Cleveland Museum of Natural History, slated to complete an ambitious $150 million transformation this year!

A shiny new Visitor Hall sets the tone for what’s to come— including the new Ames Family Curiosity Center.

GLOBAL PEAK PERFORMANCE CENTER

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Clinic are joining forces for the Global Peak Performance Center. Set to become one of the world’s largest athletic training facilities at over 210,000 square feet, the project is part of Bedrock’s $3.5 billion master plan to transform the Cuyahoga Riverfront.

Enjoy breakfast and lunch at Mowrey’s or a casual fine dining experience at Maker while marveling at views of Public Square from the city’s oldest hotel. Since 1918, the name and design may have changed several times, but the iconic Cleveland location remains authentically itself.

advanced manufacturing

Northeast Ohio has made significant strides in advanced manufacturing, thanks to innovative technologies and the ongoing growth of area job creators. About 10,000 regional smart manufacturing positions have been created in the last two years, fueled by booming sectors including biomedical devices and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). And the wins just keep on coming: Nottingham Spirk recently opened an innovation center at its University Circle facility in partnership with Ernst & Young. In addition, paint and coatings giant Sherwin-Williams grew its Greater Cleveland office employment by 20 percent while rolled steel producer Cleveland-Cliffs expanded its reach through acquisition of AK Steel and ArcelorMittal USA.

Cleveland is a bona fide healthcare hub, boasting the most concentrated area of hospitals and medical research centers in the nation. Healthcare systems such as Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals also double as the city’s largest employers with a combined local workforce of more than 49,000 people. Both healthcare systems are at the top of their game—with Cleveland Clinic ranked #2 on Newsweek’s “World’s Best Hospitals” list for six years running and University Hospitals having recently launched its Haslam Sports Innovation Center with the aim of becoming the country’s top destination for sports medicine.

Northeast Ohio’s aviation industry is a $3.2 billion powerhouse— leading the way in aerospace design, engineering and production. NASA’s Glenn Research Center stands out, thanks to extensive space simulation facilities like wind tunnels and vacuum chambers. Close to Glenn’s campus, UK-based company Blue Abyss is constructing a cutting-edge extreme environment research and training center for deep sea and space exploration (complete with a hotel). With both located near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, I-X Center, and leading universities and hospitals, this area represents a bustling hub for aerospace innovation.

Move over, Silicon Valley: the Rust Belt’s fast become a hub for all things innovation. In 2020, Cleveland was ranked #2 in the U.S. with a 19.9% inflow of tech talent, and according to Team NEO, Cleveland has more tech jobs at 58,000 than either Columbus or Pittsburgh. Many of those jobs are based Downtown, where a growing cluster of tech-focused companies includes BrandMuscle, Robot & Pencils and LeanDog. Locally headquartered companies such as Hyland Software and OverDrive are also part of that growth, including Park Place Technologies with its new Mayfield Heights-based headquarters that will house 500 employees.

LGBT COMMUNITY CENTER OF GREATER CLEVELAND

As the name suggests, the LEED-certified facility is LGBTQIA+-owned. At 15,000 square feet with moving partitions, the flexible space can be rented out for everything from intimate conference rooms to full floors to the entire center. The open-concept floors are bright with pops of color.

In addition to providing exquisite floral arrangements, Urban Orchard collaborates with local artists, growers and suppliers to create exclusive attendee gifts. CLEVELAND KNOWS SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS IS GOOD BUSINESS

Eco-Minded Venues

HUNTINGTON CONVENTION CENTER

How did Cleveland’s convention center obtain LEED Gold certification? Let us count the ways! Smart lighting, a Grind2Energy program converting food waste to energy and five water refill stations that reduce the use of 26,000+ plastic bottles annually give this 500,000+-square-foot space the green edge.

PROGRESSIVE FIELD

The ballpark boasts 42 solar panels to power 400 TV sets, not to mention the recent addition of a solar array on the roof behind home plate to further decrease CO2 emissions and energy costs. The ballpark fights waste by composting, recycling and donating leftover food. New event spaces will be available in 2025.

TRUSS

Find jaw-dropping 270-degree views of the Cleveland skyline and miles of lakefront at TRUSS, which sits atop INTRO Cleveland (the largest mass timber structure in the country). With a 6,000-square-foot main event hall and nearly 4,000-square-foot outdoor terrace, this rooftop venue can accommodate up to 700 guests.

TINKHAM VEALE UNIVERSITY CENTER

With an almost 10,000-square-foot ballroom, several conference spaces and floor-to-ceiling city views, Case Western Reserve University offers flexible spaces for all kinds of events. The venue has earned LEED Gold status for its green roof, solar panels, water refill stations, radiant heating and energyefficient curtain wall.

Huntington Convention Center’s Green Roof

WALKING THE WALK

Sustainability is always on tap at Great Lakes Brewing Co.—where solar panels fuel the brewhouse and delivery vehicles burn fryer oil instead of gasoline. Rust Belt Riders composts food scraps from homes and businesses (including Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and the West Side Market) into nutrient-rich soil. Citywide drop-off sites make reducing food waste more accessible for all. And Rid-All Green Partnership is so much more than an urban farm—this Kinsman neighborhood agriculture campus is busting food deserts, planting trees, incubating culinary start-ups and bringing farming education to underserved areas. (Rent its community kitchen for special events such as catered lunches/dinners and food tastings with local chefs.)

Daydreaming about custom furniture? Rustbelt Reclamation will handcraft your vision using wood harvested within 200 miles of its Midtown workshop. Its “Tree to Table” program helps homeowners turn property hazard trees into heirloom treasures.

Riding Green

Fondly known by Clevelanders as “The RTA,” the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s commitment to sustainability shines through with its Silver Level recognition from the American Public Transportation Association. Both the Brookpark Rapid Transit Station and the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Transit Center are LEED Silver-certified, and the East 79th Street Red Line station received SITES

certification in 2021. Ride one of 21 hybrid-electric vehicles on the Healthline from Downtown to University Circle, or hop aboard one of 162 Clean Natural Gas buses to experience green transportation in motion.

Sustainable Stays

HILTON CLEVELAND DOWNTOWN

Open since 2016, this 600-room hotel will play home to the 2024 Climate Leadership conference—an apt choice in light of its LEED Silver status (recognizing sustainable features such as smart thermometers and low-flow toilets and the use of recycled material in construction).

THE RITZ-CARLTON, CLEVELAND

This 206-unit luxury hotel in Cleveland’s Tower City complex involves its guests in its sustainability efforts through socially responsible Impact Experiences. In Cleveland, that takes the form of volunteerism and a group meal at the city’s landmark Cultural Gardens.

WESTIN CLEVELAND DOWNTOWN

A Downtown landmark for generations, this modernist 484-room hotel is LEEDcertified with features including an LED-lit exterior, reflective “cool roof” and double-paneled windows. The lobby, restored with the hotel in 2014, features ample natural light as well.

KIMPTON SCHOFIELD HOTEL

One of Downtown’s most venerable buildings—newly restored to show off its red brick façade—this trendy 128-room boutique hotel features energy-efficient touches such as LED bulbs, motion-activated HVAC and refillable bathroom amenities.

That’s Entertainment

SPICE UP YOUR MEETING OR EVENT WITH SOME UNIQUELY CLEVELAND PERFORMANCES

Cleveland’s long-running youth choir, The Singing Angels, have performed at the White House and the Vatican—so why not your event or meeting? They’ve also sang alongside stars like Celine Dion and Jim Brickman. (No big deal.)

Who wouldn’t want good luck at their event? A traditional Chinese lion dance by the Kwan Family Lion Dance group brings the luck-drawing Lunar New Year ritual—replete with costumes and drums—to you.

A performance by the Djapo Cultural Arts Institute blends African culture, art, music, dance, history, folklore and vibrant costumes for a dynamic show designed to bring people of different walks of life together.

Keep the beats flowing by booking DJ Red-I (aka Brittany Benton), a Forest City favorite who spins everything from funk and reggae to electronic and hip-hop with finds from her west side record shop.

Bring Cleveland’s proud Polish heritage to your guests with a show by The Chardon Polka Band. Expect the so-called “polka punks” to bring their accordion and tuba for traditional Polka hits and polka-fied Lady Gaga covers.

Bubbles aren’t just for kids. Dr. U.R. Awesome is a “professional bubbleologist” and Guinness World Record holder who envelops eventgoers in giant, people-sized bubbles for a fun experience that won’t be forgotten.
