wo weekends in May, as spring reawakens new life, Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm presents one of its most popular programs—Farm Animal Frolic—giving children and adults the opportunity to experience baby animals firsthand. Both entertaining and downright adorable, Farm Animal Frolic focuses on educating as a clever mix of fun activities take guests on a journey to yesteryear when family farms fed the nation. Watch chicks hatching from their eggs. Giggle at goats and lambs frolicking about. Meet the farm’s new calf. Even enjoy a wagon ride with Gunther and Wilhelm, Quiet Valley’s Clydesdale draft horses.

As a National Historical Site, Quiet Valley preserves an important piece of Pennsylvania’s agricultural heritage. Dressed in period clothing, residents reenact the day to day life of the German family who lived and worked the farm which included caring for barnyard babies (along with mommies and daddies) from the 1760s to 1913.

Farm Animal Frolic takes place rain or shine May 21 and 22, then again May 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Don’t miss demonstrations with Margaret Quinn as she shears the wool off the farm’s sheep the 21st throughout most of

the day. Kathy Uhler from the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will present shows on local wildlife the 28th at 11:30 and 1:30. Admission to the farm is $8 for adults, $5 ages 3 thru 12 and free for kids under 3. All funds raised go to support the mission of this nonprofit farm museum.
