Memory Makers Memorial Day Weekend signifies the start of summer recreation. It’s a time for families and friends to gather and enjoy the great outdoors. Warm temperatures open doors for area attractions to fulfill expectations of unforgettable seasonal play. From aquatic to dry, inside and out, there’s no shortage of options. Have a great holiday weekend and let’s not forget to honor those brave military men and women who serve our nation. Expressions—a handshake, nod or conversation is often a welcomed invitation to hear their history then offer a simple “thank you” for all they have done.

lippin’ flapjacks and flyin’ high are on this year’s Memorial Day weekend agenda as aviation enthusiasts make plans to take flight at the Aviation Day and FlyIn Drive-In Breakfast set for May 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport. The annual gathering two decades strong, started with intentions of introducing the wonders of aviation to the public. It has since evolved to become one of its sponsors, Mt. Pocono Rotary’s, largest fundraisers. Focusing on worthy causes throughout the community, the Rotary selected Gregory W. Moyer Defibrillator Fund as this year’s beneficiary. Established

after the death of their fifteen year-old son in December 2000, John and Rachel Moyer’s efforts have been responsible for training thousands of people in the use of CPR and AEDs. Facilitating the placement of AEDs throughout the country both through direct donations and by convincing decision makers of the need for AEDs in schools, as well as, wherever people gather. “It’s an honor for Greg’s fund to be the recipient of this year’s Aviation Day Fundraiser,” John said adding, “Any money raised will be used to donate lifesaving defibrillators (AEDs) to organizations within our region.” Admission to Aviation Day is free with military equipment,

motorcycle and antique car displays, activities for the kids, along with various sights to see including a 1:30 p.m. Veterans Ceremony and Parachute Demonstration. Rotarians will be serving up morning delicacies during the All You Can Eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $10 for adults and kids under 12 $6. Airplane and helicopter rides bring in additional dollars for the cause as Moyer Aviation and Hi-Tech Helicopters donate the airborne excursions. Information is available by calling 570-839-7161. So grab a lawn chair and come on out and enjoy a day outdoors.

ifteen years in carpentry translates through the exquisite artistry Valley to Mountain has on display in homes and businesses throughout the Pocono Mountains and beyond. VTM owner Eric Mogerley considers accommodating a variety of styles over the years as how his work transcends expectations. The Stroudsburg craftsman shares his inspiration and more as the summer months approach.

Not one to dismiss tackling tasks on your own, meet first to see how using a Pocono Professional can save time and, more often than not, money.

While inside creations evolving a kitchen area to an ideal gathering spot for food and drink is equally gratifying as it conveys the best return on their [a client’s] investment providing year round enjoyment.

Where’s inspiration found? Bringing paper to life is the catalyst fueling creativity. The ability to take a client’s vision and transforming those words into drawings then unique works of art is truly amazing. Are there certain projects that are more gratifying? Hard to decide. Creating outdoor living space for homeowners to enjoy as the summer months start peeking through sends an open invitation for entertaining.

What about do-it-yourselfers?

How are things started? Once contacted, an appointment is made for a site visit and discussion. Soon after commitment, drawings are rendered, approved and brought to life. It’s that simple.
