Summerfest Back Creek B

arley Creek is brewing up some amazing outdoor excitement as Summerfest 11 barrels in June 20 from 4 to10 p.m. BC’s Stephanie Rath dishes details on this monumental masterpiece of family friendly fun that started over 10 years ago.

Rath reveals repeat performers the Maybabies, who she considers, “Probably one of the best local bands” is set to return. She admits Summerfest excitement that’s “Close to home” is also a full size plus packed into the Pint Size Park.

Telling how after building the popular Tannersville eatery’s Pint Size Park, she says the BC team decided what better way to unveil their Summerfest Lager than to help a neighbor in the community, Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Trip Ruvane applauds Rath, “A driving force behind the success of this event” for Summerfest’s success along with his entire BC crew.

With a portion of the proceeds benefitting the local emergency responder, an evening filled with music, Smokehouse Barbeque and games including wiffleball, inflatables and more continues to be the place to find the finest of food and festivities in the area.

Rath adds, don’t miss the fireworks set to draw eyes to the skies at dusk. Discount tickets can be purchased in advance with regular pricing of $15 at the gate. Let’s turn our attention to one of nature’s own fast flying phenomenon. A Pocono Mountains inhabitant that is simply astounding!

T

his Week’s Fun Fact comes from the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s William Williams.

Did you know... The Peregrine Falcon, a Pennsylvania endangered bird species, feeds exclusively on other birds by striking them in flight. In a vertical dive called a “stoop,” an adult peregrine can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour traveling faster than any other animal on the planet! Joe Kosack/PGC Photo

ver 52 years, Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm has introduced guests to the experience of farm life as it was nearly two centuries ago. Unmasking a family friendly atmosphere filled with farm animals, gardening basics and history; guides portraying family members extend an invitation to explore days gone by.

As the popular Stroudsburg destination embarks upon another stellar summer tour, opening festivities spark excitement with the eighth annual Summer Garden Party set for June 20. New adventures around every turn await all age groups including Fun Food for Picky Eaters, a treat for tots, with Container Gardens and Rock Art programs for older youth and adults. There’ll also be Veggie Art and Soil Box fun!

Victorian Tea, a special fundraiser starting 11:30 will benefit the nonprofit. Guests age eight and up are invited to enjoy tea sandwiches, salad and fresh baked goodies, along with teas and lemonade. Seating is limited so $15 reservations are required. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., general admission to the farm is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 12.

FATHER’S DAY

FAMILY AFFAIR

he results are in! A majority of dads polled admit Father’s Day happiness is defined by a lounge chair, tall glass of lemonade (or other libation) and a thick juicy steak on the barbeque. Nowadays, the willingness to oblige makes way to encouraging Pop to avoid the plop turning thoughts toward Adventure Sports options. As two calendar notables, Father’s Day and the First Day of Summer fall singularly on a Sunday; the option for outdoor adventure sets the ideal stage for a family fitness challenge!

Country Junction is happy to fill the bill hosting the Dedicated Fit or Fail Challenge Saturday June 20 starting at 7:30 a.m. CJ’s Angela Moyer reports excitement is building for the feat, a first in the popular Lehighton site’s race circuit formed in collaboration with Waldorf Entertainment and Carbon Adventure Racing. Revealing participants can expect an obstacle/drill/run that’s sure to be fun, headed by Dedicated Fitness’ Kerri Jahelka. She notes, “Kerri puts a great spin on things making this fun and challenging at the same time.” “Our goal here at Country Junction is to create fun for an entire family to enjoy,” Moyer says

adding, “That’s why we started the Country Junction Events Center.” Suggesting an alternative should dad admit a bit of apprehension over the foreboding thought of a fitness feat; she recommends a visit to CJEC’s Summer Bash Family Fun Fest. Forecasting further run fun beyond the summer months, she invites Pops (and families) to start prowess prep for a September 19 Zombie Run or Rot and Santa’s Naughty or Nice in November. For now, whatever plans may percolate, one familiar father laughed stating, “I just want them [The Miller Siblings] not to forget” followed by a clever wink. Confident all families are aware of the June 21 holiday; the clever response was met with certainty dads across the area will not be forgotten. Happy Fathers Day from This Week on...
