FIREWORKS FINDS I

t’s July in the Poconos—time to let the fireworks fly! The mountains lend their own unique touch as nature’s acoustics blend bursts with patriotic tunes played by bands across the region.

It’s fireworks up at sundown with plenty of slopeside seating so bring a blanket or chair. Proceeds benefit Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company. Should showers overpower plans, a July 5 rain date has been set.

While dazzling sprays of light erupt capturing the night sky; let’s not forget daylight delights as festivals foster the right way to fill a day! Festivities break free from simply serving as Independence Day ideas with events planned for the entire weekend!

Let’s get started with your Pocono Mountains day-to-day lineup...

O

ne of the hottest tickets in town, Pocono Rodeo is set to send a surge of circuit excitement all summer long by way of Memorytown USA! Professional riders from near and far converge upon the Pocono Mountains now through September 5 for another amazing series filled with heart pounding action. Turning Summer Saturdays to Sizzlin’ Saturdays anticipation builds as spectators calling the lineup, “Thrilling” add, “It’s a family experience we won’t soon forget” to their comments after seeing contestants show off their skills with fearless feats that

include bull, bareback and saddle bronc riding, along with barrel racing and team roping. Jam packed with fun for an afternoon out, pre-rodeo festivities kick off at 2 p.m. with pony & paddleboat rides, even a petting zoo. Try and resist temptation as the mesquite aroma billowing across Memorytown grounds sends taste buds a-reelin’ for sense-sational barbeque with live entertainment to boot! Arena gates open 4:30 p.m. with rodeo action underway at 6.

Spectators should arrive early as seating fills up fast! But wait, the fun doesn’t end when the bulls get penned! The Rodeo After-Party invites guests age 21 and up for a lively Saturday night celebration featuring live country music, great spirits and dancing at 8 p.m. Rodeo tickets are $18 for adults with ages 12 and under just $12, little buckaroos ages 3 and under are free.
