The Pocono State Craft Festival Returns
The 27th annual Pocono State Craft Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 & 25 at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in Stroudsburg. The event, co-sponsored by the Pocono Arts Council and the Pocono Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, celebrates the heritage, beauty and quality of Pennsylvania crafts. This year’s featured works include pottery, jewelry, metal, stained glass, wood, baskets, leather, folk art, fine art, photography and art-to-wear. Craftsmen will travel from all parts of Pennsylvania as well as New Jersey, Connecticut, West Virginia and New York to present at the show. Craft demonstrations will bring the creative process to light—from raw material to finished product. In addition to crafts, guests will enjoy the beautiful surroundings and history of Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm. The farm buildings, animal areas and beautiful gardens will be open to give visitors a taste of a bygone era. Live bluegrass and gospel music, delicious food selections and children’s activities will also be featured at the event. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine. Admission is $6 for adults and children 12 and older. The Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair Fill the final days of summer with some fun at the fair! The 96th Annual Greene-Dreher-Sterling (GDS) Fair will take place Tuesday, August 27 through Monday, September 2 at the GDS Fairgrounds in Newfoundland. Themed Harvest Your Dreams, this year’s event pays tribute to the fair’s original mission of promoting farm life, activities and success. Time-honored traditions will merge with exciting new attractions to create a memorable county fair experience for all. Lights, music and the unmistakable aroma of fair concessions will fill the air as contests, demonstrations, games and exhibits delight guests of all ages. This year’s highlights include a monster truck show, truck and tractor pulls, demolition derbies, 4-H shows, live performances, pageants and more! Gates open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Midweek admission is just $5 per person. Fair fun starts early Friday through Monday, with gates opening at 9 a.m. Weekend admission is $8 per person. The pay-one-price admission fee covers all exhibits, music shows and rides.
