Mohegan Sun Pocono is one of those places. A spectacular entertainment and travel destination, it’s a place brimming with excitement that invites you to come and create epic and memorable experiences all your own under one roof. “We didn’t set out to just build a casino with live racing, restaurants, bars, shopping and a spa,” said Mike Bean, President and CEO

of Mohegan Sun Pocono. “We set out to build a truly one-of-akind experience, a remarkable getaway from the everyday.” While the weather may be cooling down, things at Mohegan Sun Pocono are just heating up. From September 11th through 13th, Mohegan Sun Pocono hosts NEPA’s best and biggest Oktoberfest including cold beer, authentic German food, Weiner Dog races and so much more! If it’s live music you’re after, join us in the Keystone Grand Ballroom on Saturday, November 7th for the legendary Wayne Newton, or Friday, November 13th for Country music superstar Trace Adkins. Fresh Y

ou don’t get any fresher than straight from the patch to palate making Quiet Valley’s Farm to Table Experience Saturday, September 5 a uniquely pleasant pick for whole food enthusiasts. Spend the day touring the farm then take in the opportunity to sup on end of summer produce and traditional harvest lore starting at 4 with small groups going out every 20 minutes to 6:30 p.m.

The evening starts with a workshop where samples of ham and bean soup are included. There’s also a “battle” between sweet potatoes and yams dishing details on the difference between spuds. Recipes are also on the menu as cooks share the inside scoop on some sweet delights. Food tasting runs roughly an hour and a half at $15 for adults and $10 for kids 3 to 12. Tickets can be purchased in the gift shop that day.

LA FESTA ITALIANA Translates to Scranton Sensations “

T

he time of your life without a dime in your pocket,” is what LA FESTA ITALIANA’s Chris DiMattio considers the draw that attracts thousands to Courthouse Square 40 years running. Italian heritage sights, sounds and tastes collide with the rich culture of Downtown Scranton at this free festival September 4th through the 7th.

What DiMattio calls a Labor Day weekend “Labor of Love,” LA FESTA comes full circle with the Square lending the ideal backdrop providing the feel of an Italian piazza. Describing all performers including The Duprees as “A real gift everybody can enjoy,” he tells how this year’s concept of folding festival charm into Friday cleverly collides

‘The time of your life without a dime in your pocket’ —Chris DiMattio, President, La Festa Italiana

with the city’s familiar First Friday entertainment. A mix of local merchants, over 80 vendors, kid’s rides and authentic Italian cuisine proves a positive plan for family friendly fun. Keeping Scranton center stage, there’s even free trolley rides from Steamtown’s Railfest to LA FESTA. Opening doors to experience the excitement, organizers encourage all to check out what’s stirring in Scranton. LA FESTA ITALIANA runs Friday night, September 4, from 4 to 10. Saturday and Sunday is 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with Monday, Labor Day, 11 to 8 p.m.
