Rinehimer Construction’s

Authentic MODEL HOME in LAKE NAOMI - “A Must See” Rinehimer Construction recently unveiled their newest authentic “mountain-style” model home in Lake Naomi, offering homebuyers an efficient, manageably-sized, quality mountain getaway with unique finishes. Excluding land, these one-of-a-kind three-bedroom plus loft, two-bath custom homes are available for less than $200,000. “The model home in Lake Naomi is comfortable, casual and affordable,” explains Michael Dembinski of Rinehimer Construction. “We have retained the same high-quality exterior and interior detailing found in our larger homes and renovations as the demand for smaller, welldesigned, authentic-looking homes continues to increase.” Unique exterior touches include tree bark shake accents, wavy-edge Adirondack siding, decorative gable beams, Hutton hand-made copper lighting and a cottage-style entry door. In addition to central air conditioning, Andersen 400 Series windows, and 2x6 exterior wall construction, warm interior finishes include seveninch-wide pine plank flooring, a drystack stone fireplace, solid maple kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, barnwood and hickory bath vanities, slate ceramic flooring, and shaker-style interior doors. There is an unlimited amount of flexibility for homebuyers to put personal touches on their finishes and floorplans, as all of Rinehimer Construction’s homes are fully customizable on both the interior and exterior. “Buyers will be very impressed with the attention to detail and craftsmanship we put into all of our homes,” says Company President Bert Rinehimer. Included with the purchase of each home, Rinehimer Construction offers professional interior and exterior decorating services. “Having these services available gives our customers reassurance when selecting from a wide variety of design options such as paint, tile, carpet, cabinets, and lighting,” explains Dembinski. Rinehimer Construction offers additional home services such as window treatments, home furnishings, concierge services, snow removal and routine maintenance. “These are additional services, which customers can choose to have available to them. It is our way of maintaining a consistent level of positive customer service experience all under one roof, where customers don’t have to worry about searching for additional service providers,” says Dembinski. To arrange a tour of the model home, call the Rinehimer Construction office at (570) 643-6653, or e-mail michael@RDcustombuilders.com. Find Rinehimer Construction on Facebook, or visit www.RDcustombuilders.com. In addition to Lake Naomi and Timber Trails, Rinehimer Construction builds new homes and additions in Lake Harmony, Pocono Manor, Lakeview Estates, Buck Hill Falls, Keswick Pointe, and Northridge at Camelback.

Quiet Valley Presents Annual

Harvest Festival

Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm will host its 39th annual Harvest Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13. Themed For Everything, a Season, this year’s festival ties in beautifully with the farm’s 50th anniversary and Quiet Valley’s mission of preserving and presenting the agricultural history of the 19th century. The event will examine the cycles of farmstead life from seasonal tasks to celebrations and everything in-between. In the Four Season area, visitors will learn about typical activities for spring, summer, fall and winter, and enjoy an interactive activity. In the Social Pastimes area, guests will be encouraged to try old-time games like horseshoes or croquet, and learn about 19th-century celebrations. Many early-American crafts, including basketry, broom-making, spinning, weaving, tatting, quilling, yarndyeing and outdoor brick oven baking, will be demonstrated throughout the weekend, and hands-on activities, folk entertainment, great country food and games will add to the event’s festive atmosphere. The two-day celebration will also feature children’s activities, a Festival Quilt raffle and a Civil War Encampment by members of the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. With so much to see and do, this year’s Harvest Festival is sure to be an enjoyable experience for guests of all ages. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages three through 12. Parking is free. Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is located on Quiet Valley Road in Stroudsburg. For more information, visit www. quietvalley.org or call (570) 992-6161.

A Colorful Time to be in the Poconos! Folks from near and far agree, autumn is one of the most beautiful times to be in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania! The landscape blazes with color as leaf-bearing trees prepare for winter, creating one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful displays. The lush palette of scarlet, gold, and orange is the perfect backdrop for hiking, horseback riding, special events, and happy vacation photos. Depending on the severity of the previous winter, the amount of rainfall, and other factors, the first signs of color tint the mountains in early September. This intensifies until hues become brightest in October, then disappear in the chill November air. The Pocono Mountains span 2,400+ square miles, with three distinct Anne Martino zones in which colors peak at varying times. In northern www.annemartinofotos.com Wayne County and Pike County, the trees reach their zenith in the first weeks of October. In the central zone of Monroe County and lower Pike County, the best time is in the middle of the month. In Carbon County and the southern zone, catch the best display between October 17th and 24th. The foliage of the Pocono Mountains is so flamboyant due to expansive mountain views, climate, and the variety of tree species. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is a meeting ground for trees of the southern and northern states of the east, with boundaries of species overlapping in the Poconos. The phenomenon blends a collage of colors for a vibrantly visual performance! Take a fall foliage tour by plane, train, automobile, raft, or horseback. Amble along the shore of a lake, or down a State Park trail, or take in a public scenic point. A drive on a picturesque road can reward leaf-watchers with gorgeous views. For reports on where autumn colors are finest throughout the 4 counties, call the Pocono Fall Foliage Hotline at (570) 421-5565, courtesy of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau. Enjoy the crisp autumn air and super views you’ll find here!

Why Do Leaves Change Color? In summer, leaves capture the sun’s energy and turn it into food through a process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is made possible by a pigment called chlorophyll, which keeps leaves green in summer. Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight, turning it into the sugars trees need. Yellow and orange pigments are present, but they are overpowered by green chlorophyll. In winter, trees shed their leaves to slow the evaporation of water which is difficult to replace when the ground is frozen; also, trees may be damaged when water within the leaves freezes and expands. To prepare for winter, trees grow a corky layer which prevents water from entering leaves. Without water, the tree stops making chlorophyll, and the old chlorophyll fades away. Leaves then show their yellow and orange pigments, which were there all along! For red leaves, there is a different explanation. The corky layer not only stops water from entering the leaves, it also prevents sugars from exiting the leaves. When the sun shines on the leaves, the sugars react with a chemical in the leaf to form a red pigment. A leaf that is in complete shade, with no sunlight, will not turn red.

Call the Fall Foliage Hotline! Fall foliage season has arrived in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania! Since the Poconos cover such a large area, there are three distinct zones in which the colors reach their peak at different times. Thanks to the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, leaf watchers can call the 24Hour Pocono Mountains Fall Foliage Hotline at (570) 421-5565 to find out exactly when and where to see colors at their peak throughout the 4-county region. Now is the perfect time for a quiet walk along a mountain trail, a scenic country drive, or a thrilling fall foliage air tour. Catch this glorious season while you can!
