earing no seasonal constraint, the theater energizes an enormity of senses inviting all to a world filled with sight, sound and emotion. The area’s top performers lend their talent to the Shawnee Playhouse stage eager to share in these year round performances cohesive with the climate. Warm summer breezes have subsided to the autumn chill bringing about Halloween thrills with The Woman in Black showing October 24 to November 2. The

script illustrating an evening’s tale of events surrounding the terrifying ghostly apparition of a woman in black; is sure to be a box office bang.

From there, the Playhouse continues welcoming audiences to shows geared toward evoking enthusiasm for holiday minded masterpieces with an assortment of familiar and fresh renditions. No need for Ghosts of Christmas Future as Shawnee predicts the timely treasure, Scrooge, to be a hit starting mid-November.

Baking Season’s upon us! With the holidays rapidly approaching... We’ve asked Poconos pros-who-know a few tricks of the trade for impressing Trick or Treaters & taming that comfort food creativity we all succumb to!

YOUR COMPLETE SOURCE FOR COOKWARE!

This Week’s tip comes from Patrice over at Cooks Tour in Mountainhome, a go-to guru of culinary to-do’s! Did you know... one cup of sifted flour is not the same as 1 cup of flour sifted?

Cooks Tour On Routes 191 & 390 in Mountainhome

570

If the word sifted appears before the word flour in the recipe, then you sift before measuring; but if it reads 1 cup flour sifted, you sift after measuring.

HENCKELS KITCHEN SHEARS

Scanpan Ceramic Titanium Cookware, Cuisinart, Waring & Chef’s Choice Appliances, Henckels, Wusthoff, Zyliss, Peugeot Peppermills, Le Creuset, Microplane, All-Clad, Kaiser Bakeware, Caspari, and a complete array of gadgets, cookware and bakeware for people whose passion is cooking!

Sifting is done to lighten and aerate the recipe, as well as, to remove any possible lumps. Ah— the power of word play, reminding all to read instructions carefully!

“Over the last several decades Quiet Valley has found This Week in the Poconos to be a first rate publication in areas of production and content. This is the “go to” magazine for locals and visitors when you are looking for the latest information on what is taking place in our area. This Week is polished without being fussy. As a local attraction and museum we find this magazine is one of our most useful advertising tools. The staff is a dream to work with as they are professionals who are both talented and personable. This Week in the Poconos has definitely helped us attract more people to our location and we look forward to continuing the very positive relationship we have enjoyed with them.” - Deborah DiPasquale, Director of Marketing for
