PMAC presents Skytop Holiday Arts Festival The Pocono Mountain Arts Council (PMAC) will present the Ninth Annual Skytop Holiday Arts Festival on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 at the Executive Conference Center at Skytop Lodge. The tranquil, elegant venue is a delightful place for visitors to begin holiday shopping. More than 50 display booths will showcase the work of the local arts community, with artists standing by to present and discuss their hand-crafted wares. This year’s featured items include functional and artistic pottery, wood-turned pieces, furniture and functional wood accessories, fused and stained glass, jewelry in a variety of styles, handmade bags, totes and satchels, and hand-painted silks. The fine arts will be represented by photographers working in traditional and digitally-enhanced modes, and by painters whose work ranges over a wide variety of styles and mediums including watercolor, oils, acrylics and pastels. The Skytop Holiday Arts Festival will again showcase the artwork of area students. Exhibiting this year will be the Pocono Homeschoolers and students of the Evergreen School in Cresco, PA. Pocono Mountain West High School student Rocio Saavedra will be featured in this year’s Emerging Artist category. The Ninth Annual Skytop Holiday Arts Festival will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 1. Admission is free and facilities are handicap-accessible. The Executive Conference Center at Skytop Lodge is located off of Catherine Route 390 in Skytop. From Saturday, November 9 through Monday, November 11, all visitors will receive free admission to the Park grounds, museum complex, exhibits and scheduled walking tours. Additionally, a special program called “A Soldier’s View of Wars and Trains,” will be presented on Saturday and Sunday. The presentations will allow visitors to speak with re-enactors, veterans and active duty armed forces members. While visiting the park during Fee-Free Weekend, all active duty military members and their dependents will be able to obtain an annual park pass—an $80 value—at no charge. The Steamtown National Historic Site is located on South Washington Avenue in Scranton. Its trains, museums and exhibits allow visitors to explore the history, technology and tales of steam railroading in Northeast Pennsylvania. The Site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees apply to train rides and certain park amenities. For more information, visit www.nps.gov/stea or call (570) 340-5200.
