Some elegant beverages coupled with culinary splendor and surrounded by sacred beauty is but a quick jaunt away to downtown Lakeville this coming week. The Rotary-sponsored Taste of Lakeville returns from 5 to 9 p.m. May 12 to the Lakeville Area Arts Center for its ninth year of various and sundry gastronomic fare and entertaining musical offerings. New this year are chef demonstrations, a beer tasting, an expanded layout and a new country band. There will be more than 30 food and beverage vendors, including Casa Nostra, Porterhouse, the Chart House, Lakeville Liquors, College City Beverage and Molly Cools, among many others. Lakeville Liquors will offer more than 400 different varieties of wines for tasting, said Steve Michaud, Lakeville’s Parks and Recreation director and a Rotary member involved in Taste’s yearlong planning process.
“Without Lakeville Liquors’ support and effort, I don’t think Taste would be possible, he said. This year, country band Chasin’ Mason will join the Dweebs and Michael Loonan to provide the soundtrack to Taste. The beer tasting will feature beverages from a number of microbrewers, including Cold Spring (Glueks), Summit and Alaskan.
Auctions and more In addition to satiating the wine and culinary appetites of attendees, Taste of Lakeville also is known for its live and silent auctions. This year, as in many years past, Brackett’s Crossing Country Club donated a membership worth $12,000. Other items include tropical vacation packages, meals, scooters, video games, local hotel packages, gift certificates to a variety of local retailers and Twins tickets. Dave Oswald, See Taste, 3B
