WEEK 9 READING: TITLE OF READING

Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) The Latin term reffered to as “Perspectiva’ embodies the notion of ‘seeing through’, outlining Durer’s concept behind perspective projection being a planar intersection formed by directly associating the eye with object. Durer’s rule outlines that all perpendicular lines come into a central vanishing point, while all parallels on the otherhand, regardless of their direction, all come to a single vanishing point. Nonetheless, if parallels intersect with the picture plane at an angle, the distance between the central vanishing point and the vanishing point corresponds to the distance between the eye and plane.

Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)

A homogenous space is something defined as being infinite. The mathematiaclly built space differentiates from a perpendicular view that is restrained by spatial limits. In a sense, the idea is to convert a space into a mathematical one. All the elements in the space are determinants of position yet are meaningless when they exist independently without context.

OLD QUAD ISOMETRIC

OLD QUAD ISOMETRIC WITH NOTATIONS

Here is the final result of the isometric. Annotations are in place and are easy to be identified by their distinct form and choice of colour.

QUAD PERSPECTIVE 1 + 2 Annotation. This view will portray the clash of rural environment into an urban setting. I delibrately placed a second level to create lake which will allow me to exploit the notion of natures prescence. For this perspective, I intend to have a range of characters making interactions with the lake, as well as providing livestock to fufil the requirements mentioned throughout the story.

Annotation. This particular view gives a much broader opening compared to the previous perspective. By doing this, it will allow me to use this view as a driving tool to maintain strong focus on character development. In addition, I intend to use mirrors as a device to exploit confusion and entrapment to the characters. This will reinforce my idea of exploring the confusion of placement and loss of identity to citizens within the context.

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2 This particular scene marks the beginning of the arrival of the herdsman establishing connections to the local resident of the urban environment. The clash of water is used as a symbol to recognise the presecence of the natural world, as opposed to the man-made quad supporting urbanism. To support the disruption of identity and confusion of environment types, cloths are used on all human figures to establish the notion of disruptedf identity and entrapment to those situated in the landscape. This scene provides a visual depiction of both the herdsman and local resident of Cecila partaking in their conversation located in the background of the perspective. The support of Goats and dogs continue to be placed to reinforce the clash between rural to urbanism. Once again, the usage of cloths covering the faces emphasises the notion of disrupting the identities of individuals and knowledge of location. In addition, mirrors have been placed along the sides to futher exploit a sense of entrapment and confusion behind the context of location.

WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: IWhat is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words) Autographic practice is when the art is produced with direct physcial contact of the author. An example for this could be looking into sculptures. On the other hand, allographic practice is a source which are able to be produced without physcial contact, essentillay being intangible resources. An example for this could be seen in music.

Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) Throughout history architecets used a variety of representational methods to present architectural drawings. However, their focus was mainly on the surface of buildings rather than its structures. Architects need to use new technologies such as software to revolutionise their representational techniques and to present their work in more accurate and innovate ways. This ensures for improved communication with clients, architects and other individuals involved in the process of a building.

From the very beginning, I wanted to ensure my Isometric and annotations were were clear and precise so my viewers so they were able to understand my story more effectively. In addition, I wanted to have no more than 8 notations, as I feel if I had more, the Isometric would’ve became a lot more difficult to depict. Overall, I’m quite happy with the final outcome of the isometric. Notations continue to provide a sense of Marco Polo’s movements and remain clear by the usage of solid colours and appopriate form. Regarding the perspectives, I am extremely satsfied with the final outcomes. Good use of tone and digital texture support the overall aesthetics behind the environments. For improvement, I feel I could have added more characters but nonetheless, I’m extremely satsfied with the final result.
