ATTENTION............................... 8 a) When cleaning the non-optical surface of the reconnaissance device, do not use chemical solvents or thinner to scrub. Instead, you can use a piece of clean, soft and dry flannelette to wipe the housing.

b) The infrared lens of the device is coated with a layer of antireflection film to prevent reflection. Please clean it only when it is obviously dirty, since scrubbing the lens frequently may cause wear of the lens coating. Please avoid touching the surface of the lens, otherwise the fingerprints will leave acidic substances from the skin, which may damage the coating and the lens surface. Only use the special cloth to clean the lens. c) When the observation task is completed or no one observes the target for a long time after the device is booted, please shut down in time to extend the effective utilization time of the reconnaissance device.

ATTENTION............................... 9 a) When inserting batteries into the device, do not need to distinguish the positive and negative poles, but the two batteries should be inserted reversely (one battery is inserted in positive direction, and the other one is inserted in reverse direction); b) Before removing the batteries, make sure that the reconnaissance device is turned off. In the case of opening the battery compartment cover and removing and batteries when the device is still running, it will cause serious damage to the reconnaissance device. c) Be sure to charge the batteries for at least 5 hours before using the reconnaissance device for the first time; d) Please use the batteries which match with this reconnaissance device; e) Do not disassemble, throw, or short circuit the battery to prevent accidents;

Please immediately stop using the batteries if overheat, discoloration, deformation, odor, or other abnormalities occur during use, charging, and storage.

IR516A Non-refrigeration Portable Infrared Reconnaissance Device Operation and Maintenance Manual 1 PRODUCT OVERVIEW In the case of observing the battlefield from a close distance in night or under bad weather, as a generaltype reconnaissance equipment, IR516A non-refrigeration portable infrared reconnaissance device (hereinafter referred to as reconnaissance device) can be used to identify the enemy’s situation and terrain, as well as help improve the effect of observing targets and shooting.

2 MAIN FUNCTIONS a)
Use infrared thermal imaging technology to search, identify and align with the targets;
b)
With photographing, videorecording and playback functions, and be able to export the stored videos and pictures through the USB interface;
c)
With power control, infrared contrast adjustment, infrared brightness, infrared electromotion focus, infrared image pseudo-color palettes switching, 2 times zooming and 4 times zooming in functions;
d)
The video output can be displayed by the local OLED or an external display device.
3 MAIN PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 3.1 Infrared Reconnaissance Distance In the case of visibility not less than 15km, humidity not greater than 80% as well as the temperature difference between the target and the background not less than 4℃ : a)
For the 2.3m×2.3m typical target: identification distance ≥ 1.1km, detection distance ≥ 3.1km;

For the standing individual soldiers: identification distance ≥ 0.85km, detection distance ≥ 1.6km.

3.10 Packing When selecting carrying bags and safety boxes, consider the needs of field battle, as well as the needs of multifunctional use such as the protection, portable, operation shielding functions. 3.11 Temperature Requirements a)

3.12 Vibration and Shock Requirements a)
Vibration conditions: the device powered on, sine sweep frequency of 5Hz ~ 200Hz ~ 5Hz, the peak acceleration of 1.5g, and in three mutually perpendicular axial directions, 6min for each axial -4-

Shock conditions: half sine wave, pulse width of 6ms, acceleration of 20g, and in the three mutually perpendicular axial directions, shock three times for each direction.
3.13 Security Requirements Put the device in the safety box. Let the box free fall from the position where it is 122cm from the cement floor, in which case, the product can not be damaged. 3.14 Waterproof and Dustproof Grade Requirements IP67. 3.15 Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements The electromagnetic compatibility of the device meets the army ground platform requirements of RE102 (2MHz ~ 18GHz), RS103 (30MHz ~ 1GHz, 1GHz ~ 18GHz) in GJB 151A-97 Electromagnetic emission and susceptibility requirements for military equipment and subsystems.
4 PACKING CONFIGURATION Reconnaissance device configuration table is shown as Table 1, and the corresponding picture of the configuration is shown in Figure 2.

5.1 Preparation Before Use 5.1.1 Open the Box ATTENTION Before using the reconnaissance device, do open the box to check if the device is complete. Before using the reconnaissance device, be sure to open the box to check. a)
Open the safety box, and check if the device is complete according to the reconnaissance device configuration table (Table 1);
b)
Check if there is any obvious damage on the lens, body, eyepiece, buttons of the reconnaissance device. And wipe the infrared lens with a piece of lens cloth to ensure that the lens are clean.
5.1.2 Install the Batteries ATTENTION a) The reconnaissance device is powered by two batteries, and do not need to distinguish the positive and negative poles while inserting -9-

batteries, but the two batteries should be inserted reversely (one battery is inserted in positive direction, and the other one is inserted in reverse direction); b) Before removing the batteries, make sure that the reconnaissance device is turned off. As shown in Figure 9, close the battery compartment cover, and clockwise tighten the battery compartment cover.

The reconnaissance device is a separate working system, and it can normally operate after installing the batteries accompanied by the mainframe according to 5.1.2;
b)
Press and hold the power switch for 3 seconds, after which the reconnaissance device is booted, OLED lights turn on, and the boot screen appears;
c)
The reconnaissance device adopts the power-saving working mode. When the human eye comes close to the eyepiece, the display screen in the eyepiece will automatically start up; when the human eye goes away -12-

from the eyepiece, the display screen will automatically shut down; d)
The current image magnification is shown on the upper left corner of the display; The power information is shown on the upper right corner; The remaining percentage of the internal storage is shown on the lower right corner.
e)
The button prompt message isn’t shown on the screen under the initial conditions. When you press any button, the button prompt message corresponding to the six entities button, the main interface will be popped up. If no operation occurs for a certain period of time, the prompt message will be automatically blanked. Press any button, the message will be popped up again.
f)
Aim the reconnaissance device at the observation target. Press the " " and " focus until the image is clear.
g)
" buttons to tune
If the image is not asymmetrical, aim the reconnaissance device at a scene with even temperature, for example a clean cloudless sky or a closed lens cover, and then short press the " " button, the screen image will pause briefly and resume later, which means to do compensation and correction by using the external scene as a target. -13-

Press the "menu" button to enter the secondary option menu, "Setting", "Playback", "Back", "Cursor", "Zoom", "Palette" menu items will appear on the screen. Enter the "Setting" menu item to operate six settings: brightness, contrast, self-calibration interval, hot spot tracking, formatting and factory reset. Use the switch key on the upper left corner to cycle these six settings whose specific meaning is shown in Table 2. Enter the "Playback" button to view the recorded pictures and videos; Enter the "Back" button to return to the main interface; Short press "Cursor" to turn on or off the cursor; Short press "Zoom" to switch the image for 1x, 2x and 4x magnification; short press "Palette" to switch to the other palette such as black hot, white hot, red hot, green hot, etc.

7 SAFETY PROTECTION MEASURES AND PRECAUTIONS a)
Do not make the reconnaissance device directing at the sun, carbon dioxide laser, welding machine and other high-intensity radiation sources.
b)
When laying aside the device and during transport, remove the batteries, cover the lens cover and place the reconnaissance device in a protective packing box.
c)
Do not use the batteries which do not match with this reconnaissance device;
d)
During the process of starting up the device, please ensure that the visible light objective lens is not blocked, otherwise you will not be able to see the target.
e)
Do not pull out or plug in the external cable if the device is not powered off. And it is recommended that the electrical equipments connected directly to the cable should be powered off when pulling out or plugging in the cable.
f)
There are sophisticated optical instruments and static-sensitive electronic equipment integrated in the reconnaissance device. Do not throw, beat or vibrate the reconnaissance device and its accessories, and pay attention to avoid static electricity to prevent -19-

8 TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE 8.1 Sealing and Packaging 8.1.1 Basic Packaging Method a)
The exterior and interior packages of the products are reasonably designed according to product characteristics as well as the environmental requirements on transportation, storage and use, so that the products will not become deformed, damaged ,or deteriorated;
b)
The protection packages have such protective functions as waterproof, moisture-proof, rust-proof, anti-fogging, shockproof, and mechanical damage prevention.
c)
Before packing, the products have been proved to be qualified and attached with conformity certificates as well as the complete spare parts & accessories and technical documents on the products after inspection;
d)
The products are packaged in strict accordance with the product packaging technology and technical

requirements, and the packaging containers, materials, auxiliary materials meet the requirements of the product designs; e)
The product packaging environment is clean and dry, without harmful substances;
f)
The stacking is stable, which is convenient to transport, handling, carrying, storage, management and use.
8.1.2 Packaging Materials The packaging materials meet the requirements of the standards. 8.1.3 Packaging Box The packaging boxes are provided with shockproof, antidrop, dustproof, and moisture-proof performance. 8.1.4 Packaging Method a)
The packaging box adopts the separate assembly pattern with the compression moulded anti-shock materials;

8.2 Packaging 8.2.1 Shipping Case The shipping case is provided with shockproof, anti-drop, rain-proof performances. 8.2.2 Shipping Case Size The size of the shipping case meets the requirements of the standards. 8.2.3 Packaging Method a)
Some shock-proof cushioning materials will be filled in the gaps between the packaging boxes as well as the gaps between the packaging boxes and the wall of the case, as so to avoid mutual friction and collision between the boxes or between the boxes and the case;
b)
There is a piece of complete product with all components, spare parts & accessories and manuals in the shipping case.
8.3 Transportation The products shall be shipped as follows: a)
The manufacturer shall assist the ordering party to ship the qualified products which are accepted by the -22-

ordering party to the end-users or the warehouse for storage in accordance with the provisions of the order contract; b)
The shipment quality and the safety requirements of the transport process shall be in line with the relevant provisions of the international transport management department;
c)
When loading and unloading the products, pay attention to the following items: 1) No matter what type of loading and unloading method is adopted, it should ensure safety and reliability; 2) Strictly comply with the requirements on fireproof, waterproof and moisture-proof regulations; 3) Do not transport the products by using the vehicle which has already loaded with flammable, explosive and corrosive items; 4) Avoid collision during transport.
8.4 Storage If the products will not be shipped immediately, store the accepted and qualified products in the manufacturer’s temporary warehouse for finished products. The storage period shall not be more than three months. And it will be the -23-

manufacturer’s responsibility to take care of and maintain the products during the storage period. Before shipment, the representative of the ordering party will perform ex-work inspection in accordance with the relevant provisions on delivering products from the factory. If the ordering party needs to store the products for a long time, this party shall energize and test the products once every six months. The products shall be stored in a dry, ventilated and non-corrosive gas environment, with the temperature of 5℃~ +30℃ and a relative humidity of not more than 80%.
