AN EXPLORATIOn

stars

Briefing Throughout this book I will be exploring the great depths of the stars and space, the final frontier. I will be looking at aspects ranging from astronomy, astrology and how we study the stars too ancient religions formed around space. I will be tackling the grand subject through interviews, experiences and primary and secondary research. I have decided to go with this subject as I feel it can be a very enjoyable subject to explore, not only for myself but others too. Part of what interests me is how it can be studied and approached by two separate approaches. There have been numerous scientific investigations and theories carried out, yet all the same data and the same matter out there can be looked at from a spiritual point of view, such as how the composition of the stars may have an effect on our mood or reflect in our personalities. Through this book I will be expanding on the knowledge I already have through different mediums.

constellations

Constellations fit right in the home of astronomy. Its is formed around the principal of patterns formed by prominent stars within proximity to each other seen in the night sky. Overall there are 88 constellations all combined, however depending on your location not all will be visible. All have their own depth and history, dating back to various times. As we are situated here in the United Kingdom, I am interested in exploring these that are more visible to us now at the current time of year of the creation of this book, between January and March.

What particularly interested me during this research was the correlation believed to take place between Orion belt and the Giza pyramids, known as the Orion correlation theory. The Orion correlation theory was first put forward by Robert Bauval around 1983. Whilst working in Saudi Arabia, his friend pointed out Orion, and mentioned that Mintaka, the smaller more westerly of the stars making up Orion’s belt, was offset slightly from the others. This immediately reminded Bauval of the layout of the three main pyramids in the Giza necropolis. He published this idea in 1989 in the journal Discussions in Egyptology. The idea has been further expounded by Bauval in collaboration with Adrian Gilbert (The Orion Mystery, 1994) and Graham Hancock (Keeper of Genesis, 1996), as well as in their separate publications. The basis of this theory concerns the idea that the relative positions of three main Ancient Egyptian pyramids on the Giza plateau are (by design) correlated with the relative positions of the three stars in the constellation of Orion which make up Orion’s Belt— as these stars appeared in 10,000 BC. Like the pyramids, the three stars of Orion are not perfectly aligned; the smallest of them is slightly offset to the East and all slanted towards the south westerly direction. This leads to suggestion that the knowledge, ability and building power at that time of the civilization may be more advanced that we have understanding of.

Astrology Astrology is a system of trying to understand a relationship between astronomical phenomena and event in our life. It is seen in abundance of cultures and with it holding varied significance and reputations in each of them. The most prominent difference and a way to easily display these differences is that in the west civilization, a lot of newspapers contain horoscopes that claim to use astrology to explain aspects of a persons personality, and try and predict that persons luck, love live, wealth and experience of that day.

Astrology

These predictions are often very vague and the use of astrology could be questioned at best. However in Mayan culture they over years have developed elaborate systems to try and understand astrology even to the point of predicting terrestrial events. Some people to this day take this as gospel.

Psychic Reading

Astrology claims a place within psychic reading, quite a controversial topic. A psychic reading is where a medium will try and discern information from you that they would have no way of knowing. They claim to do this through heightened perceptive abilities, such as clairvoyance, clairsentience and clairaudience. Despite the dubious nature of such reading there has been a very high interest in readings for decades. Methods used in readings include a wide range of techniques such as palm reading, tarot reading, numerology and astrology, which had obviously grabbed my attention the most. Astrology readings are a form of divination that focuses on the alignments of the sun, moon,

planets and fixed stars either in the present or at your time of birth, with the reader claiming to be able to gather information about your life through this. I feel the best way to explore this would be have a reading conducted on me personally. Through research I found that a very well respected psychic lived just outside of Bristol, named Cara, who to my surprise had a waiting list of 2 months and even conducted phone readings to those from other countries such as Australia and USA who would a reading from Cara specifically.

Notes

The first interaction that occurred was that Cara asked me to shuffle some tarot cards that she had gave me, and whilst this was going out she was relaying information back to me that had been coming to hear. The beginning was both quite surprising and what I was expected. She almost immediately picked up that I had 2 brothers and that my parents separated young, however a range of names come out which I had no seeming connection to, which I felt she covered up by saying to keep them in mind for the future. She also began to discuss how I would travel in the future, notably to Australia and Thailand, Thailand of which I did have an interest in travelling too, and that I would settle late in life.

She then seemed to focus more into the future, adding onto her earlier statement of me being a late settler to giving a precise age of 28 and that a new girl was in the short future. She then moved onto the part I come for, and asked for my date of birth and grabbed an astrology book. She then mentioned, which may or may not be related to this, that I was early born which is also true, and that my moon was in Leo, which she explained is very common for creative and natural performers, but constrained around family. However I am of the belief that this was more of a cold read on me that a true sense of astrology. I also began to notice inconsistencies, or maybe she was just hearing new information that was coming forward, and now mentioned India and/or Indonesia as a travel destination.

Psychic reading

Rather bizarrely Cara then went on to suggest I hade a gluten intolerance, which I had no known case of or ever even really had any suggestion of this. Work and career was the next point of call, and this is where I started to feel as if there was a certain structure, as if she was jumping from one area of life to the next, making sure each were mentioned. Went on to mention I would be self employed, how I could never be a person to motivate myself to work for a boss, or someone else. Despite earlier mentioning a girl on the horizon with a J or S attached, she is know telling me to watch out for an M. Presumably the same person.

Psychic reading

Her image of seeing a poster of a skull went completely over my head at the time, however I only noticed upon getting home and speaking to my housemate about the reading that I do indeed have a Donnie Darko poster in my room of the Frank skull, which probably impressed me the most out of everything. Also knew I was always low on energy, and went on to suggest I myself was clairsentient , and spent a good 10 minutes urging me to harness this, to meditate, specifically Thai Chi and to trust my gut feeling more than I do.

32

Psychic reading

The whole experience left me a bit empty in terms of astrology, as there was very little in the reading, and felt more of just a general reading. I felt that the information given to me during the astrology segment was probably the most vague of all the sections. Despite it still leaving me as quite critical on the subject I am glad to have had the chance to experience it first hand.

Mythology

36

Mythology

Stars also play a massive role in Egyptian mythology and religion. The leading gods have been identified from leading stars, and their grand monuments, such as of course the pyramids, were all decorated and patterned with stars and such, for the sole purpose of returning to the celestial with dying, to be reunited with the sun god and the imperishable stars. There are a large number of Egyptian gods that revolve around the sky, sun and stars, each believed to have their own individual role.

Mythology

nut The sky goddess. Her body was said to create protective layer over the Earth by stretching across the sky. Nut was the sister and wife of Geb, and the mother of Isis, Osiris, Nephthys, Horus and Seth. The ancient Egyptians believed that Nut swallowed the sun-god, Ra, every night as the sun would set, and it would flow through her body until she would gave birth to him every morning from the womb.

39

ra God of the sun. Ra was considered the most important god in ancient Egypt, thought to be the god of the sun and creation. He had many names, such as AmunRa, and Ra-Horakhty. It was said he was born each morning in the East, and died each night in the West through the body of Nut, in the night he travelled through the underworld. This is why the West side of the Nile was known as the land of the dead.

40

Mythology

God of vengeance, sky, protection, and war Horus was the Egyptian god of the Sky. He was the son of Isis and Osiris. After fighting his uncle Seth, he became the king of Egypt. During this fight, he lost his eye. The Eye of Horus became one of the most important symbols in ancient Egypt. The Eye of Horus was a powerful amulet. It was a sign of protection. It was also called the Wadjet Eye. The ancient Egyptians worshiped Horus partly because he had the Eye of Horus.
