schedule preview Under the tutelage of third-year head coach Julie Orlowski, the 2015 Thomas University women’s soccer season is looking to continue their growth and success of the 2014 season where the Lady Night Hawks went 10-7-1, 6-3 in Sun Conference play. The 17-game regular season slate is divided with seven home games and 10 road games, culminating with the Sun Conference Tournament in mid-November. The Lady Night Hawks’ schedule features three Top 25 programs and NAIA National Tournament qualifiers from the 2014 season. The Lady Night Hawks open their 2015 campaign with a friendly scrimmage against Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fla., before hitting the road to Alabama to open their regular season against the University of Mobile on Aug. 21. The Lady Rams (15-3-3) finished their 2014 campaign ranked 12th. Thomas continues their weekend road series when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face William Carey University. The Lady Crusaders (18-3-1) finished the 2014 season ranked 11th in the NAIA Coaches Poll following their second round loss to Northwood (now Keiser) in the national tournament. After a five day break, Thomas travels back to Alabama to face Auburn Montgomery on Aug. 27. “We have eight games against opponents who spent time in the Coaches Poll’s Top 25 last fall,” stated Orlowski. “Playing William Carey and Mobile opening weekend will show us exactly where we stand as both teams participated in the National Tournament last year.” The home opener for Thomas takes place on Aug. 30 when the Lady Night Hawks host Brenau University. Next, the Lady Night Hawks make a quick trip to Cochran, Ga., on Sept. 4 to face the Knights of Middle Georgia. After facing off with Columbia College on Patriot Day on the road, Thomas hosts AUM on Sept. 19. Sun Conference play begins on Sept. 25 when the Lady Night Hawks travel to Miami Gardens, Fla., to face Florida Memorial. Still on the road, conference play continues with contests against St. Thomas (Sept. 27) and Webber International (Oct. 1). Thomas’ home conference opener takes place on Oct. 3 as the Lady Night Hawks welcome Warner University. The Hunter Green and White takes its final road trip of the season to face Johnson & Wales (Oct. 9) and Keiser (Oct. 11). The Lady Seahawks of Keiser (17-6-2) finished the 2014 season ranked fourth in the NAIA Coaches Poll reaching the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship tournament Final Four. Thomas returns to the TU Soccer Complex on Oct. 15 to begin the final stretch of the season at home. The Lady Night Hawks first host Ave Maria and then Southeastern (Oct. 17). TU celebrates Senior Day against South Carolina-Beaufort on Oct. 24 and then wraps up the regular season against SCAD-Savannah on Friday, Oct. 28 to kick off Homecoming Weekend. Orlowski continued, “We were able to schedule a very challenging out of conference slate. This should not only prepare us for conference play, but will hopefully get us back in the Top 20 as well. In the end, if we do not achieve our goal of winning the conference title, our strength of schedule will hopefully put us in the conversation for an at-large bid in the National Tournament.”

season outlook Head women’s soccer coach Julie Orlowski leads the Hunter Green and White into a highly competitive schedule against several quality opponents in the Lady Night Hawks’ 2015 campaign. Coming off a 10-win season, Thomas University looks to jump start the year returning eight starters, who made a minimum of four starts, from last year’s team. With 10 players making the return to Thomas, the Lady Night Hawks are looking to utitlize a young core of talented recruits, boasting a combined 19 freshmen and sophomores, to make the next step for Thomas. Following a fourth place finish in the Sun Conference’s regular season standings, Thomas welcomes three NAIA National Tournament participants in their bid to qualify for the Sun Conference and NAIA National tournaments. While the team only lost three seniors from last year’s squad, the Lady Night Hawks picked up 12 new student-athletes who are looking to make an impact on the field. Ciera McGriff (F), Aliya Callaghan (D), Estelle Rault (D), Anna Gray (F), Dana Blough (F), Rebekah Wiltshire (F), Alleah Long (MF), Katy Hanscomb (MF), Barbara Jean Shirley (D), Alexus Boles (F), Jennifer Clyde (MF), and Rachel Lopez (GK) will contribute with immediate playing time when the season kicks off on August 21.

head coach Julie Orlowski

Head Coach jorlowski@thomasu.edu Julie Orlowski enters her third season as Thomas University’s head women’s soccer coach. Orlowski joined the Night Hawk athletic department in February 2013. Orlowski spent the previous twelve seasons of her coaching career prior to Thomas as the head coach of the Stetson University (NCAA Division I) women’s soccer program. During her time as a Hatter, she recorded 88 wins while her teams reached the Atlantic Sun Tournament each year from 2003-2010. The Hatters reached the Atlantic Sun conference title match in 2006. At Stetson, Orlowski coached 28 All-Conference performers, including 11 first team selections. In her twelve seasons, Orlowski also fielded the league’s Defensive Player of the Year (twice), Offensive Player of the Year (twice), and Freshman Player of the Year (twice). She was also the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year and NISOA Central Coach of the Year. Stetson’s women’s soccer program also excelled in the classroom under Orlowski’s tutelage earning four NSCAA All-Academic selections, six CoSIDA Academic All-Region selections, and public recognition from the NCAA for the program’s outstanding Academic Performance Rate. Coach Orlowski has also been heavily involved in various administrative roles within the NCAA serving on the NCAA National Committee from 2009-2013 and the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee from 2006-2013. Prior to Stetson, Orlowski served as the assistant coach at the University of South Florida and was the head coach at Boise State University, University of North Florida, and Sun Conference rival St. Thomas University. As a note of record, Orlowski started or resurrected each of these three programs. Orlowski holds a United States Soccer Federation “B” License. She is a state coach for the Florida Youth Soccer Association and has served as an Olympic Development Program instructor. Orlowski received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Florida International University where she was a four year starter and team captain with the women’s soccer team. Orlowski earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in 1995. Currently, Orlowski resides in Thomasville, Ga.

athletic assistant coach Renata Peixoto

Athletic Assistant Coach renata.peixoto@student.thomasu.edu Renata Peixoto enters into her second season as Thomas University’s Athletic Assistant Coach for the women’s soccer team. During her collegiate playing career, Peixoto spent four years as a varsity letter winner for Union College’s women’s soccer team. She collected 41 goals and 55 assists in her 72 games as a Bulldog midfielder. The 2008 season was career year for Peixoto. She was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Offensive Player of the Year and the AAC’s Player of the Year. Peixoto racked up a school regular season record of 27 assists while finishing ranked No. 1 overall in the NAIA in assists per game (1.42). Peixoto also received NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors. In 2009, Peixoto led Union to the AAC regular season and tournament championships, making an appearance in the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship tournament. While at Union, Peixoto received First Team AllAAC honors on three occasions (2008, 2009, and 2010). In 2010, the Bulldogs repeated as regular season AAC champions as Peixoto was named to the NSCAA/Performance Subaru Women’s NAIA All-East Region team. The Brasília, Brazil, native earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Performance from Union College in Barbourville, Ky., (2011) and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Thomas. Currently, Peixoto resides in Thomasville, Ga.

The Lady Night Hawks celebrated Senior Day with Jenny Hernandez, Breana Pullara, Emily Ingram, and head coach Julie Orlowski on their final home game of the 2014 season against Embry-Riddle.

2015 OPPONENTS

2015 opponents Jacksonville University (Exhibition) @JUDolphins August 13, 2015 | 5:00 p.m. | Jacksonville, Fla. Coach: Brian Copham | 2014 Record: 10-8-1 (4-3 Atlantic Sun) The Breakdown: The Dolphins lost eight players to graduation, a solid core that amassed a record of 41-28-8 and a pair of Atlantic Sun championships, but in a positive showing, the current 16-woman roster concluded its spring schedule nearly unbeaten. New to the Dolphins’ sideline were two unfamiliar players and an assistant coach. Coach Copham welcomed Luiza Alves Oliveira and Sara Ann Wicks to the team in January – both are available for the 2015 season – and Coach Ryan Patridge in March. Wicks, a transfer from Arkansas State, joins redshirt sophomore Jill D’Amico as a goalkeeper while Oliviera, a true freshman, could possibly see action as a midfielder. Seven freshmen comprise Jacksonville’s 2019 class as Chanci Roseberry, Brittany Hundley, Carlyn Eckerle, Kayla Hancock, Christen Barney, Lauren Short, and Kyra Cloutier are prepped to join the team this fall. The Dolphins are coming off a successful spring slate finishing 5-1. In their last matchup against the Lady Night Hawks, Jacksonville pulled out a 6-1 victory over Thomas. Their lone setback of the six-game spring slate occurred with a 1-0 defeat to Stetson.

University of Mobile August 21, 2015 | 6:00 p.m. EST|5:00 p.m. CST | Mobile, Ala.

@MobileRams

Coach: Brian Person | 2014 Record: 15-3-3 (8-0 Southern States) The Breakdown: Coming off of a splendid 2014 season that saw the Lady Rams post 15 wins and an unblemished conference record, the University of Mobile will return a key nucleus of players with hopes of returning to the NAIA national tournament for the sixth consecutive season. Mobile breezed through the Southern States Athletic Conference last season, winning all eight of the team’s regular season conference contests before outscoring opponents 6-0 in the SSAC Tournament en route to the school’s first conference title since winning the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in 2005. The Lady Rams moved to the SSAC prior to the 2010 season. Honorable Mention All-Americans Tyler-Rae Molloy and Katie Compton are key returning pieces from Mobile’s 15-3-3 season in 2014. Molloy netted nine goals and added six assists to her total last season, numbers that earned the forward First-Team All-Conference Honors. Compton also scored nine goals for the Lady Rams while proving her knack for showing up in clutch situations, as five of her nine goals were game-winners. After winning the SSAC, the Lady Rams fell 5-1 to Lindsey Wilson in the school’s national tournament opener. The Lady Night Hawks and Lady Rams met once last season, a 2-1 Mobile victory.

William Carey University August 22, 2015 | 6:00 p.m. EST|5:00 p.m. CST | Hattiesburg, Miss.

@CareyAthletics

Coach: Danny Owens | 2014 Record: 18-3-1 (7-1 Southern States) The Breakdown: The second of five consecutive SSAC opponents that Thomas University will play to open the 2015 season, William Carey University posted 18 wins before falling two games into the NAIA national tournament last December. The Lady Crusaders are expected to compete for the conference title yet again this year, but the team will be without star player Claudia Saucedo, who graduated after leading the SSAC in goals (21) and assists (10) last season. Key to the Lady Crusaders hopes in 2015 will be senior midfielder Ofosuhema Gyamfi-Kumaning, an NAIA Third-Team All-American, First-Team All-SSAC, and SSAC All-Tournament Team selection in 2014. William Carey boasts a youthful squad entering 2015, as 14 of the team’s 28 players are freshmen. Despite the inexperience of the Lady Crusaders, much is to be expected from a team that only lost three matches in 2014. William Carey’s defense was its strength last year, as the team conceded more than two goals just twice in 22 matches. The Lady Crusaders were upset by Thomas University’s season opening opponent, Mobile, last season in the SSAC tournament final, a match in which William Carey allowed just one shot but lost 1-0. The Lady Night Hawks last faced William Carey in August 2014, an 8-0 Lady Crusaders victory.

2015 opponents Auburn University-Montgomery August 27, 2015 | 3:00 p.m. EST|2:00 p.m. CST | Montgomery, Ala. September 19, 2015 | 2:00 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@AUMathletics

Coach: Tafadzwa Ziyenge | 2014 Record: 10-8-1 (4-4 Southern States) The Breakdown: A new era of Lady Warhawks soccer begins in 2015, as veteran head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge begins his first season at the helm of Auburn-Montgomery soccer. Ziyenge previously coached the women’s soccer programs at Arkansas State, where he is the all-time wins leader with 39, and Alabama-Huntsville. Despite hovering around the .500 mark in 2014, the beginning of Ziyenge’s tenure, coupled with the return of top players Julia Losert and Lila Remache, has hopes of an SSAC title higher than ever in the Lady Warhawks’ camp. Losert, a senior midfielder from Germany, led Auburn-Montgomery in assists last season (8) and was second on the team in goals (9) en route to earning Honorable Mention All-American honors. Remache, a senior midfielder from France, led the team in goals last season with 11 and also chipped in two assists. The Lady Warhawks were much better at home in 2014 than on the road, posting a 7-2 record in Montgomery compared to a 3-5 mark away from home. Auburn-Montgomery lost in the SSAC semfinals to eventual champion Mobile in an 11 round shootout last season. Thomas University faced Auburn-Montgomery once in 2014, a 3-0 Lady Warhawks’ victory.

Brenau University August 30, 2015 | 1:00 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@BUGoldenTigers

Coach: Mike Lochstampfor | 2014 Record: 8-8-2 (3-5 Southern States) The Breakdown: After having the best season in program history in 2013, a year in which Brenau went 15-4-1 and finished 17th in the nation, the Golden Tigers regressed last season, but not as much as the team’s even .500 record would suggest. After starting 2014 4-2-2 the Golden Tigers fell on hard times, losing five consecutive matches from Oct. 11-25, four of which were by one goal. Brenau was outscored by only six goals in the five game stretch, including three one-goal losses against ranked opponents. The Golden Tigers graduated four seniors who were pegged First- or Second-Team All-SSAC, including defender Elizabeth Campbell, who was also named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Shelly Restificar is key to Brenau’s hopes for a bounce back season, a sophomore defender from Rock Hill, S.C., who was pegged to the SSAC All-Freshman team. She started all 18 games on defense for the Golden Tigers. Brenau returns seven letter winners from last year’s team. The Lady Night Hawks faced the Golden Tigers once in 2014, a 3-0 Brenau victory.

Middle Georgia State University September 4, 2015 | 5:00 p.m. | Macon, Ga.

@MGAKnights

Coach: Vinny Gill | 2014 Record: 2-11-3 (0-7-1 Southern States) The Breakdown: Middle Georgia State’s inaugural NAIA season didn’t end in rewarding fashion in terms of wins and losses, but the Lady Knights played several quality opponents closely en route to gaining a valuable year of experience. The team’s two wins came in consecutive matches in late October against NCAA Division III foe Agnes Scott and USCAA member Judson College, but three ties and three other closely-contested losses to ranked opponents leaves room for optimism for Vinny Gill’s squad entering 2015. Senior defender Marissa Parker, in addition to having a solid season protecting goal for the Lady Knights, brought a much-needed attacking presence that helped capture the team’s first win versus Agnes Scott. Parker netted both goals in the 2-1 victory, including the game-winner just two minutes before the end of overtime. Parker also struck for an equalizer just one minute into the second half of Middle Georgia State’s late August tie with Johnson & Wales. The Lady Night Hawks met Middle Georgia State once last season, a 5-1 win for Thomas University on Oct. 16 in Thomasville.

2015 opponents Columbia College September 11, 2015 | 2:00 p.m. | Columbia, S.C.

@GoKoalas

Coach: Joshua Kiper | 2014 Record: 10-9 (5-5 Appalachian Athletic) The Breakdown: A grueling early season road schedule continues for Thomas University with a rare trip to South Carolina, as the Lady Night Hawks sixth road match of the season’s first month comes against the Columbia College Koalas. Despite finishing sixth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference last season, the Koalas young back line, led by Second-Team All-AAC player Lexi Cesario, figures to be stout again after a strong 2014. Despite the strength of the club’s defense, keeping opponents off the scoreboard won’t be Columbia’s only strength thanks to junior Ashley Tanner. Tanner, a First-Team All-AAC forward, recorded eight game-winning goals in 2014, running her career goal total to a whopping 41 after just two seasons. Amber Tanner, who scored four goals in AAC play last season, anchors the team’s midfield as an AllAAC selection. She was the only freshman in the entire conference to earn First-Team honors. The Lady Night Hawks’ matchup with Columbia is just the team’s second road trip to South Carolina in the last three seasons. TU last visited the Palmetto State in October 2013, a 2-0 Sun Conference victory over the University of South Carolina-Beaufort.

Florida Memorial University September 25, 2015 | 5:00 p.m. | Miami Gardens, Fla.

@GoFmuLions

Coach: Fernando Valenzuela | 2014 Record: 3-14-1 (2-7 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: The Lady Night Hawks’ first of 10 Sun Conference matches comes in Miami Gardens, Fla., versus Florida Memorial. The Lady Lions struggled to the tune of 14 losses in 2014, as the team managed just seven goals in conference play en route to a goal differential of -33. The highlight of FMU’s 2014 season occurred on Oct. 13 versus Johnson & Wales in a match that turned out to be the team’s only home conference win of the season. Argentinian midfielder Camila Scobina headed a cross home early in the second half for the contest’s only goal. Goalkeeper Bethany Ivens recorded 10 saves in the shutout victory. Eleven of the Lady Lions’ 23 rostered players were freshmen last season, however, so FMU’s final record wasn’t surprising. The more experienced version of Lady Lion soccer will expect to take another step toward competing in The Sun Conference this season. Thomas University faced Florida Memorial twice in 2014. The Lady Night Hawks won 5-1 on Sept. 12 in Thomasville before defeating FMU 4-0 on Sept. 28 on the road.

St. Thomas University September 27, 2015 | 12:00 p.m. | Miami Gardens, Fla.

@STU_Athletics

Coach: Michelle Smith | 2014 Record: 7-8-1 (3-6 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: After a hot 4-1 start, St. Thomas cooled off down the stretch to the tune of seven losses in 11 matches in 2014. The Lady Bobcats climbed as high as No. 11 in the national rankings after three consecutive wins from Aug. 28-Sept. 1, but failed to find the win column for over a month after nearly cracking the NAIA Top 10. The high point in the team’s season came in a thrilling overtime victory over Faulkner, a match during which St. Thomas fans got a glimpse of the future when Swedish freshman Sarah Lyppert Thomsson buried a shot from 30 yards out in the 101st minute, a goal that proved to be the eventual game-winner. Lyppert Thomsson and Ana Parra, the player who assisted the game-winner in addition to several other crucial goals for the Lady Bobcats in 2014, will both be returning to action this season with hopes of jumpstarting St. Thomas’ offense in 2015. The team managed just 26 goals in 16 matches last season and will need to significantly add to that total to compete with the Sun Conference’s tough competition. Significant underclassmen contribution will also be necessary for St. Thomas to be successful, however, as the team has just two seniors on its roster, Michelle Bailey and Sarrah Granda. The Lady Night Hawks met St. Thomas once last season, a 2-1 Thomas University win on Sept. 26.

2015 opponents Webber International Universirty October 1, 2015 | 3:30 p.m. | Babson Park, Fla.

@WebberAthletics

Coach: Ashley Cockrell | 2014 Record: 6-8-1 (3-5-1 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: After winning three consecutive games in late September to even the team’s record up at 3-3, Webber struggled to an under .500 record and just three conference wins. Forward Cierra Abundez led the Lady Warriors in nearly every offensive category, earning Honorable Mention All-Sun Conference honors thanks to seven goals and two assists. Abundez’s strong offensive performance culminated in a conference-opening win for Webber, as the forward found the back of the net against Southeastern to help the Lady Warriors find the win column for the first time in 2014. She was the lone Webber recipient of All-Conference honors. The Lady Warriors do have reason for optimism when the team opens a new campaign in 2015, however, as six of Webber’s eight losses came by a single goal. The team outscored the opposition 25-2 in victories and was outscored just 24-6 in losses, meaning that the team actually had a positive goal differential (+5) for the season despite being under .500. The Lady Night Hawks met Webber once last season, a 3-2 Thomas University win in Babson Park, Fla.

Warner University October 3, 2015 | 2:00 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@WarnerRoyal

Coach: George Arroyo | 2014 Record: 7-8 (3-6 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: A roller coaster 2014 for Warner ended short of a postseason berth, as the team won four matches in a row early in the season before losing seven of 10 to conclude the year. Senior forward Jamie Murray will return as perhaps the team’s biggest offensive weapon, but Warner will need to find additional attacking threats in 2015 in order to compete in The Sun Conference. Murray raced out of the gates last season, scoring a team-high four goals in four matches to open the year, including two in a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory over Florida Memorial on Sept. 20. The entire Lady Royals team hit a lull offensively after that match, however, scoring just 11 goals in 11 matches to conclude the season. Sophomore defender Breanna Martin also proved to be a scoring threat for Warner, scoring several goals despite playing on the back line. She scored the only goal for the Lady Royals in a 2-1 loss to Johnson & Wales. Thomas University met Warner once last season, a 1-0 overtime win for the Lady Royals in late October.

Johnson & Wales University October 9, 2015 | 12:00 p.m. | North Miami, Fla.

@JWUathleticsPVD

Coach: Eric Dobrzanski | 2014 Record: 3-9-5 (2-5-4 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: Reigning TSC Coach of the Year Eric Dobrzanski, a coach with Thomasville ties due to his tenure as boys soccer coach at Brookwood School, propelled Johnson & Wales women’s soccer to new heights in 2013 when the Lady Wildcats made the Sun Conference Tournament for the first time. The team regressed slightly, however, last season by winning just three matches, although the club’s five draws would suggest the 3-9-5 record isn’t as harsh as it might look. Seven of Johnson & Wales’ losses came by two goals or less and the Lady Wildcats will hope to have better fortune in close matches this season when the team returns senior captain Sara Trouillot and Honorable Mention All-TSC center back Melissa Sanchez. Sanchez was the key contributor in a unit that allowed just 11 goals in TSC play in 2014. She also scored twice. Thomas University and Johnson & Wales developed a rivalry last season, as the teams split two matches, including The Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinal. The Lady Night Hawks won the teams’ first meeting 4-1 in Thomasville, but the Lady Wildcats exacted revenge in a penalty shootout in conference tournament play.

2015 opponents Keiser University October 11, 2015 | 1:00 p.m. | West Palm Beach, Fla.

@KUSeahawks

Coach: Mat Dunn | 2014 Record: 17-6-2 (9-0 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: Keiser rolls into 2015 after finishing last season ranked fourth and, unfortunately for opponents, the team shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The Lady Seahawks won another TSC title last season while earning a second consecutive trip to the NAIA Final Four, a feat the team hopes to repeat this season under fifth year head man Mat Dunn. The Lady Seahawks outscored opponents 43-4 in TSC play last season, cruising through the conference nearly unchallenged before falling to Lindsey Wilson (KY) 2-1 in overtime in the national tournament. Keiser had five players named as All-Americans, including three, Johanna Engberg, Louisse Andersson, and Linnea Lindmark, who will be returning in 2015. Engberg scored 30 goals and was named to the All-American Second Team, while Andersson tallied seven assists en route to also garnering Second Team Honors. Lindmark added ten goals and nine assists to earn Honorable Mention honors. The Lady Night Hawks last faced Keiser in Oct. 2013, a 3-1 Lady Seahawks victory.

Ave Maria University October 15, 2015 | 4:30 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@Gyrenes

Coach: Frank Frostino | 2014 Record: 4-9-1 (0-8-1 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: The Lady Night Hawks face Ave Maria in what will be the first of four consecutive home matches to close the 2015 regular season for TU. The Lady Gyrenes scored just five goals in conference play last season and the team has managed to win only five TSC matches since 2009. The team did, however, play several closely-contested matches, including a 2-1 loss to Warner in the team’s TSC opener and a 3-2 overtime loss to Florida Memorial, so there is optimism in the Lady Gyrenes’ camp that a year of added experience for the team’s younger players will breed better luck in close matches moving forward. Ave Maria doesn’t have much turnover from last season’s roster, either, as the Lady Gyrenes graduated just four seniors from the 2014 squad that finished 4-9-1. The team defeated NCAA Division II Georgia Southwestern State 4-2 on the road in what was arguably the high point of the Lady Gyrenes’ 2014 season. Ave Maria received goals from Courtney Smith, Anne Bateman, Gianna Vega, and Carlie Frullo that day, all of whom will be returning for the 2015 season. The Lady Night Hawks met the Lady Gyrenes once last season, a 5-0 Thomas University victory at home on Oct. 4.

Southeastern University October 17, 2015 | 3:30 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@FireAthletics

Coach: Renee Lopez | 2014 Record: 10-7-1 (4-4-1 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: The arrival of first year head coach Renee Lopez, coupled with the return of three All-Conference selections from a season ago, has Southeastern optimistic that its women’s soccer program can improve upon the 10-win mark it posted in 2014. After stops at NCAA Division I South Carolina Upstate and Division II Colorado Christian, Lopez has the experience required to take Lady Fire soccer to the next level. The Fire placed three players, Alyssa Kaminski, Bre Eldridge, and Becky Reynolds, on the All-Conference team. Kaminski, a junior, and Eldridge, a senior, scored six and eight goals, respectively, to earn spots on the Second Team. Reynolds scored four goals and added five assists to earn Honorable Mention Honors. Southeastern fell 1-0 to Webber in the opening round of the TSC tournament, but the team did perform well at times during 2014. The Fire defeated St. Thomas, 2-1, in what was the program’s first ever win over the Lady Bobcats. The team also exploded for six goals in a blowout victory over Warner after snatching a 2-1 win from Clearwater Christian with less than two minutes to play. The Lady Night Hawks met Southeastern once last season, a 4-1 Thomas University win in early October.

2015 opponents University of South Carolina-Beaufort October 24, 2015 | 2:00 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@USCBAthletics

Coach: Ed Heberling | 2014 Record: 7-11 (3-6 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: Prior to the 2014 season, South Carolina-Beaufort had just one player earn TSC All-Conference honors, but that changed last year when two Lady Sand Sharks, Cheslie Mummert and Karen Pimentel, were awarded that designation. Pimentel will undoubtedly be the catalyst for success for USCB in 2015, as the All-Conference midfielder enters just her second collegiate season. She scored goals in three consecutive matches as a freshman to close the 2014 regular season, running her season total to four. The Lady Sand Sharks will search for consistency regardless of venue in 2015, a season removed from some fairly noticeable home-road splits. USCB posted a record above .500 at home in Bluffton, S.C., but the team was just 2-7 on the road. Thomas University met USCB once last season, a thrilling 2-1 win for the Lady Night Hawks. The Lady Sand Sharks equalized the match with 10 minutes remaining before Mackenzie Dolan converted the winner off of a corner kick for TU just 10 seconds before the end of regulation.

SCAD-Savannah October 28, 2015 | 3:00 p.m. | Thomasville, Ga.

@SCAD_SavSports

Coach: Rebecca Gunn | 2014 Record: 13-7 (7-2 The Sun Conference) The Breakdown: The Lady Night Hawks will conclude the regular season against the Savannah College of Art and Design, a team that registered 13 wins and nearly won the conference tournament a season ago. The Lady Bees went toe-to-toe with some of NAIA’s best in 2014, falling 5-3 to Embry-Riddle in October before dropping a 3-1 decision to Keiser in the conference tournament final. Senior Olivia Buechler is the top returning player for SCAD, as she garnered Honorable Mention All-American honors, in addition to being named First Team All-TSC, last year by scoring 11 goals to lead the Lady Bees. She registered three multi-goal matches and scored the game-winning penalty kick in overtime versus Faulkner. Seniors Natalie Besl and Meadhbh Deeney also earned postseason recognition by earning spots on the Second-Team All-TSC list. The Lady Bees return a veteran squad this season and will expect to again compete for The Sun Conference title. The Lady Night Hawks met SCAD once last season, a 2-0 victory for the Lady Bees in Thomasville.
