Architectural Acoustics, Noise & Vibration We provide analysis and design to control and balance the competing functional acoustic, noise and vibration requirements for new buildings and renovations. These include interior room acoustic design, noise control between rooms, mechanical equipment noise and vibration control, and analysis of duct-borne noise. We also offer advanced techniques for predicting footfallinduced vibration that use finite-element modeling to generate multimodal time-history predictions. Construction Vibration Assessment & Monitoring We assess, monitor and mitigate construction vibration levels in jurisdictions that require vibrationcontrol plans for some construction projects. Our professionals have been involved in the preparation of these plans, both before the submittal of building permit applications and during construction, to ensure acceptable vibration levels on properties adjacent to construction sites. Vibration Testing, Monitoring & Control Vibration can originate from many sources in and around a building: transportation systems such as railroads, subways and roads; HVAC machinery; human activity; and wind. To assess the likelihood and severity of vibrational issues, our engineers measure and analyze the structural vibration characteristics of anything from a small piece of machinery to an entire building.


Tuned Mass Dampers Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) are used to reduce vibration in a variety of structures: floors, long-span structures, bridges and tall towers. Each requires a different approach. We provide analysis and design for all types of TMDs and have extensive experience in the design of conventional solid and liquid dampers.
