Security Training for Public Assembly Venue Operators Provided by Thornton Tomasetti in Collaboration with EMRTC
Active Shooter
This course represents a collaborative effort to educate all members of an organization on the behavioral indicators of a potential active shooter, and strategies for protecting themselves. Training outlines strategies for nonemergency responders to prepare for and mitigate their exposure, and for emergency responders to address this threat and prevent loss of life.
Threat Mitigation
By formulating and thoroughly examining a threat assessment plan for evaluating critical assets and their vulnerabilities, students will learn to identify potential threats and hazards and recognize their consequences. Instruction includes development of countermeasures and response strategies to mitigate specific threats.
Screening
Participants will learn about technology and techniques for performing physical screenings of objects and people to detect threats and hazards. Training will also address evaluation of individuals according to behavioral indicators.
Incident Response
Even for events not categorized as emergencies, response plans must be in place to document, mitigate or resolve them according to agency specifications. This training will enable participants to identify nonemergency incidents, prepare response strategies and prevent such incidents from escalating into full-fledged emergencies.
Explosives Recognition
The ability to recognize explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) is essential for preventing and responding to bomb incidents. This training provides security personnel with the knowledge needed to identify suspicious packages and determine the appropriate emergency response and mitigation actions, potentially preventing loss of life and assets.
Emergency Response
An in-depth discussion of the definitions of emergency incidents will help prepare attendees to develop effective response strategies and emergency response plans. Instructors will present model policies to assist participants in developing response plans for their respective agencies.
