This collection of witty and thoughtful musings on the world of golf consists of four essays: Playing With Better Players, In Love With A Wanton, Waling Insomnia, and One Being A Senior Golfer. They are printed letterpress and bound in brown Moroccan goatskin, handmade pastepaper and celestial endpapers especially designed for the edition by Tania Lee who has also created 12 amusing and beautiful original illustrations that are printed in vibrant color. The book is presented in a velvet lined black linen traycase and the edition is limited to 250 copies each of which is numbered and signed by the author, illustrator and publisher.



john updike Few authors in the past fifty years have garnered more recognition in the literary community than John Updike. A two-time recipient of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, Mr. Updike has also been honored with the Rosenthal, the Howells Medal, the National Book Award for Fiction, the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism, and the National Book Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1976, at the age of 44, he became the youngest person ever elected to membership in the Academy of Arts and Letters. During the course of his prestigious career, he has authored over 40 books, including some 17 novels, and has been bestowed with 6 honorary degrees, including a Doctor of Letters from his alma mater, Harvard. His multitude of award-winning short stories have made countless appearances in The New Yorker, O. Henry Prize Stories, and The Best American Short Stories. Heir to the legacies of Hawthorne and Howells, John Updike’s mammoth talent places him at the center of the contemporary American literary elite.
