who WE ARE
Co-founders Gwen Weinberg & Anita Nadelson's friendship began in the hills of Tuscany while studying on a college program abroad. They stayed in touch for the next decade, through Gwen's move from Philadelphia to the west coast and Anita's years of working and traveling around the world, eventually coming back together in Seattle. The two took advantage of the city's nurturing entrepreneurial culture and combined their skills -- Gwen's at making things and Anita's at selling them -- to create Three by Three Seattle.

Gwen exhibited the potential of a career in industrial design from a very young age, much preferring scissors, construction paper and glue to all other toys. Born in Philadelphia and now living in Seattle and Lisbon, Portugal, Gwen received informal training in art and design at a few universities on both US coasts after obtaining an undergraduate degree in psychology and art history from University of Pennsylvania. She now considers it a gift for her own design vision to have not been boxed into one formal sensibility in her training; from the start of her career, beginning as a jeweler, metalsmith and bookbinder, Gwen’s designs have always gone beyond the obvious, standard solution, from her innovative use of materials, to her unexpected proportions, to her concepts that forge entirely new product categories. Currently, Gwen is happy to be re-focussing on paper goods, returning not only to her early design years’ bookbinding roots, but going all the way back to one of her earliest childhood pleasures.

Anita always wanted to run her own business. Her entrepreneurial spirit appeared at a young age, selling Bubble Yum on the playground in her hometown of Seattle. After earning a history degree from Connecticut College, she spent several years traveling the world and working in Paris, Florence, and New York. Both her business acumen and her love of travel have rubbed off on her three children, who have enjoyed several successful lemonade stands and schoolyard businesses. Anita has integrated the lessons learned from her passions and her varied work history into her business philosophy: have patience, take advantage of any opportunities that arise, treat everyone respectfully, and never stop innovating. She believes this code of ethics and transparency has cemented Three by Three Seattle’s reputation for quality, customer service, and integrity.
new PRODUCTS
hob•knob™ JUMBO Following the success of their original Hob•Knob™ Solid Wood Wall Pegs, Three by Three Seattle has released new Jumbo Hob•Knobs™. These sizeable stunners add a bold, sculptural element to any space, and they’re as functional as they are fun: their chunkiness is ideal for hanging hefty items like bags and other large accessories. The natural wood option complements any decor, while the painted color top version adds a bright statement. “We loved the original Hob•Knobs™ and so did our customers,” says Mary Burnett, VP of Sales. “It just made so much sense to offer them in a different style. By making them larger, we’re really taking them from ‘wall peg’ to ‘wall sculpture’ and adding even more function.” Jumbo Hob•Knobs™ are sold individually in two sizes: 2.5 x 2.5 inch and 3.5 x 2 inch. They are available in natural wood or painted navy, spring green, and red finishes. ###
polyhedra™ MAGNETS Three by Three Seattle adds an unexpected element of striking industrial design to their extensive line of magnets with new Polyhedra Magnets. Each polyhedron is structurally distinctive and features finishes like wood grain and polished metals that enhance their sharp geometry. Every individual form – tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron – is backed by a superstrong rare earth mighties® magnet, making it easy to create dimension on any magnetic surface. “I was inspired by the simple beauty of geometry,” says Ellen Thomson, designer. “I chose these forms (the Platonic solids) because I find their symmetry very appealing. They play well with each other without being homogenous.” CEO Anita Nadelson adds, “We knew polyhedra magnets would be a perfect fit the moment Ellen presented the idea.” Polyhedra magnets are available in two sizes and three sets. The small cast metal polyhedra, available in copper, gold, silver, and pewter, are sold in sets of 5. The large polyresin woodgrain polyhedra, available in light, dark, and teal wash, are sold in sets of 3 and sets of 5. ###
GROUPshot!™ MAGNETIC LAYERED TABLETOP DISPLAY Three by Three Seattle’s new magnetic layered tabletop display brings a fresh face to functional art. Black wire emerges from a sturdy exposed-edge plywood base to create framework inspired by cityscapes, forests, and cloud-filled skies, making it a worthy addition to any decor. Mighties® magnets attach to the metal wire to show off important photos, reminders, memos, or cards. The GROUPshot!™ is perfectly sized for shelves and mantels, and also works as a centerpiece, on a desk, and anywhere you want to transform treasures into art. “I love the look of layered frames,” says Head Designer Gwen Weinberg. “I wanted to create something that would take this idea and consolidate it into one design. We chose wire because it supports cards and photos without obstructing the arranged layers behind.” Co-Designer Julisha Kim adds, “The three different designs reflect the balance between urban living and nature, which was inspired by Seattle.” The new GROUPshot!™ measures 14 x 8.5 x2.5 inches and features a chunky plywood base with heavy gauge black metal wire. It comes in three styles: Cityscape with ashwood veneer and golden magnets; Forest with walnut veneer and golden magnets; and Clouds with a high-gloss white veneer and chrome magnets. It is double-sided, allowing it to be used anywhere, and includes 12 superstrong rare earth mighties® magnets. ###

The bright colors are the perfect addition to our line.” The round boxie™ is available in red with white interior, spring green with black interior, and navy with white interior – measures 3.25 x 1.5 in (8.5 x 3.5 cm) The square boxie™ is available in blue with black interior, orange with white interior, and white with black interior – measures 2.75 x 2.75 x 1.5 in (7.5 x 7.5 x 3.5 cm) ###
