HARRY BRIOCHE Exhibition April 10th – 30th 2011
We are delighted to introduce the paintings of Harry Brioche. Born in the Seychelles in 1965 of Creole and American parentage, Harry grew up on the island of Mahe. The family’s idyllic existence on the island came to an abrupt end in 1977 following the coup d’etat and they finally settled in England in 1980. Despite attending art college Harry considers himself totally self-taught and initially entered the world of commercial art as an illustrator and graphic designer with his own company. However, inspired by the drama and beauty of the atmospheric, ever changing British sky and captivated by a landscape which was in sharp contrast to that of the Seychelles, he later decided to seek out a career as a landscape painter. “For me the landscape is almost incidental, my main objectives are to try and capture the atmosphere and spirit of a place. Ultimately it is the mood and light within the painting that becomes its central theme. As an artist I paint subjects that inspire me and bring me, and hopefully others, a great deal of pleasure.” Harry’s work has been widely exhibited throughout the UK in private galleries and in London at the NEAC, ROI and RBA annual exhibitions.
