And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? A parable is the placing of one comparison over against the other, an example from everyday life, placing it against a spiritual or heavenly counterpart. Why this type of teaching? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. God in His eternal, sovereign purpose has made a difference between those that He will cause to hear of Christ and believe on Him, and those He has given over to their own reprobate minds to never hear and believe. To some it is given (endowed by grace to learn and perceive) by the Spirit of God, but to others, IT IS NOT GIVEN. Is He unjust in so purposing? “Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” Romans 9:21.12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Those given ears to hear, and grace to believe, continue to receive grace upon grace (John 1:16) to know the LORD Jesus Christ, and His saving work accomplished for sinners. The objects of God’s grace can never know enough of Him, or too much. They grow in grace because of their need of grace and clearer knowledge of Christ and His Gospel, 2 Peter 3:18. By contrast, ‘whosoever hath not,’ or as Luke 8:18 states, ”who seemeth to have,” by man-made profession and knowledge, even that will be taken from him/her. Everything besides the unconditional, free grace of God given by the Spirit to those for whom Christ paid the debt, is only a synthetic light, which is not true light at all. Head knowledge, mere theological speculation, and a natural-minded holding to scripture is not evidence of knowing Christ and therefore temporal at best, and a delusive, damnable hope. Matthew 13:10-14.
