Meet the Chuckling Goat Team and find out about the entire Farm Eco-system
Hi - I'm Rado and I just had two beautiful goat babies! This means that I'm milking again, which is a good thing, because we're still getting loads of orders coming through for our kefir.
Rado
We’ve had all sorts of VIPs coming to visit the farm, and loads of lovely press, in the newspaper and radio – the humans are very busy. But we goats are doing the really important part – producing the gorgeous milk!
STEVE WRIGHT SHOW Shann will be featuring on Radio 2 - The Steve Wright Show on March 31st after 2pm
Listen in to hear the full show live.
Our human, Shann, will be interviewed on The Steve Wright Show on March 31st. Don’t forget to listen in she’ll be chatting about her #1 best selling book, natural healing on the farm and help for eczema. The humans have launched a help centre on the website, so that you can discover out how our natural healing products might help you, as they helped with the query, below.
Rado, first milking pen on the right The help centre is now open on our website and you can post your questions about your health issues. Q. Hi there I get terrible hormonal acne and spots, my skin gets really oily and greasy too. I get bad breakouts on my chin, forehead and by my mouth. I use your acne lotion which seems to work great but I am hoping you could let me know other natural products that might help to combat this. A. I’m glad the Break-Out Magic Lotion is working for you! If you’re looking for a more complete acne treatment, you might try adding our Break-Out Magic Cleansing Bar to your regimen. Like the lotion, the cleanser can be used for face, hands and body, and is made with the same raw goatsmilk, award-winning kefir, and thyme & tea tree essential oils. The cleansing bar also has organic French facial clay, which is great for mopping up oily skin and refining pores. Thyme essential oil has been shown in studies to be more effective against acne bacteria than benzoyl peroxide, without any of the redness and drying that chemical acne treatments can cause. To increase the acne-fighting power another notch, you could add in a 21-day course of the goatsmilk kefir. Acne is an autoimmune condition – it shows up on the skin, but originates when the microbiome in the gut is damaged. Restoring the natural balance of the gut microbiota is the best farm thing you can do to heal your skin. Good luck!

The goats get dressed up for some VIP visits The goats entertained Baroness Randerson, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Wales, on the farm recently. The Minister was admiring the mountain of parcels due to be shipped out to customers! sits baroness randerson vi rm fa the Chuckling Goat
WALES Office minister, Baroness Randerson, visited Ceredigion recently to celebrate women in business. Baroness Randerson, a recognised champion of women’s rights, visited the Chuckling Goat Farm. The minister said: “In the lead-up to International Women’s Day on 8 March, I am particularly pleased to be promoting women in business at the round table — and seeing their success in action. Women like Shann are an inspiration to others and a shining example of a successful business-woman creating jobs which boost the economy. Creating jobs is central to building a stronger, more resilient economy and women can and should be job-creators too”. Shann Jones said: “The goats —and humans — at Chuckling Goat are delighted to welcome Baroness Randerson to our smallholding. “As a small business based on innovation and farm diversification, we have always admired the minister’s strong support for women in business. “It was a pleasure showing her around our brand new soapery, shop and office — as well as the barns, of course.”

The Farm Eco-system co-director Shann Nix Jones Shann is the farm wife, mum, and co-Director of Chuckling Goat, along with her beloved husband Rich. “We live and work right here on the farm, so it really is more than a business for us,” Shann says. “This is our home. We’re so fortunate and blessed to be connected to our beautiful family, friends, clients, goats and nature every day Some days are tougher than others...but its always rich and rewarding!”
In the office This is Pattie Parker-Casemore, the lady who keeps us all under control (hehehee - what a job description that is!) Pattie is our office manager, and absolutely critical to operations. If you ring us, chances are it’s Pattie who’ll pick up for a chat. Pattie says, “The thing I love the most is talking to customers and getting to hear their stories.”
In the office
co-director - BIG Daddy of the operation Rich the Legend, they call him! Married to Shann, Co-Director of Chuckling Goat, resident expert on goats, tractors, land rovers and barn building. “We’re proud of the fact that we started the business from nothing, and now employ ten people,” Rich says. “And yes, we do love having our family around us!”
righthand man Benji is 9, and works as hard around the farm as any adult. Strong enough to load hay and already an expert digger driver, Benji has his own quad and is Rich’s right hand man when it comes to building and fixing things. “I like going outside and seeing the new goat kids,” Benji says, “and helping Dad do things like put a Land Rover engine into a Fergie tractor!”
We’ve just been joined by Debbie James, our lovely new bookkeeper. Debbie works onsite here three days a week, bringing order to the chaos, and has adjusted admirably to being dropped into the crazy soup that is Chuckling Goat. Debbie says, “It’s never the same at Chuckling Goat two days in a row - definitely keeps it interesting!”
All round helper Joli, daughter #3, is 16 now and about to head off to Costa Rica on a full scholarship to do her A-levels at United World College. We will miss her terribly, both personally and professionally! Jo is a real all-rounder - she can milk, filter, make kefir, make soap and skin cream, and work in the shop. “There are such a variety of things to do!” says Jo. “We’re connected with the whole process, from the goat to the beautifully wrapped bar of soap. It’s a great concept - to start with something living, and end up with a health product.”
In the Shop The delightful Theresa Lumbey has also joined us recently, running our little emporium in Cardigan. There she dispenses soap, skin cream and advice. What’s different about working on the Chuckling Goat team? “I feel like I’m valued,” Therera says, “Decisions feel like team decisions. I am blown away by the products and customers... it’s all about the involvement. Not to sound cheesy - but it feeds your soul, this place!”
ALL ROUND HELPER
In the Dairy Dairy Queen Eva Achtenburg has been fermenting our raw goats milk into kefir, and literally bottling day and night (last night she didn’t come in until 8:20 pm!) Eva is from Germany - she came for one month and has stayed for six. Eva says: “On the farm you see something new every day - and learn something new every day. I feel I’m doing something good for people, making something that’s good for their health. The goats are cool - and the team is so gorgeous! You can always talk to them and have a laugh.”
Elly Jones - daughter #2, has just come back from Barry to join the family business as an all-rounder, helping in the office, packing room and soapery. “You get a lot of time outside in the fresh air, which is nice,” Elly says. “It’s a cosy office, close-knit, the people are kind, and we get freshly ground coffee!”
Farm helper & shed expert Josh Sewell is our daughter Elly’s partner - they moved back to the farm together recently, from Barry. Josh is lending a hand to Rich outside with shed building and farm management. “Working with family is wicked,” Josh says. “It’s a real sense of community. And I love learning new things!”
In the packing room Lowri Alexander is the proud mother of a 9-month old baby, and has just joined us to help with packing and shipping. She works 4 days a week, 4 hours a day, so that she can balance work and her new family. “It’s the “Family First!” philosophy at Chuckling Goat that I really like,” said Lowri. “It means I can work. If my employer wasn’t flexible, I couldn’t manage it. It’s nice having a bit of time for me - and it’s been a real confidence booster, getting out of the house again!
on the website Hanuman Hook is our website designer/developer, graphic designer and general tech expert - we couldn’t do without him! I asked Hanuman what was different about working here at Chuckling Goat. “I got to see a goat being born the other day,” he grinned. “You don’t get that at any other job!”
In the soapery Carys Hughes, our Magic Maker, is hard at work turning our goats milk and kefir into our award-winning skincare. Carys makes everything by hand herself right here on the farm, with occasional assistance from the other members of the team. “It’s been crazy dealing with the huge surge of orders, but it’s been good because I like staying busy, and demand is through the roof. Also, all the babies are arriving now on the farm, and it’s just...cute!”
marketing & NEWs Updates This is Sue Davies, Sue is in control of the online marketing and customer communication (If you’ve had one of our email updates and news from the farm emails then it’s Sue that would have organised this. “Chuckling Goat for me is the real deal, the people, the farm and the whole eco-system is aiming to make positive changes in peoples’ health.”
