aking charge of your children’s education is certainly a noble act. We here at THSC believe that families have a God-given right to raise their children as they see fit. As such, we strive to protect all families and to support those who decide to answer the calling to teach their children themselves.

Over the past 32 years, THSC had been working relentlessly to support and empower homeschooling families like yours throughout Texas by providing resources, advocating for and promoting homeschooling, and keeping a watchful eye on the Texas Legislature. Called to Teach is the culmination of our efforts. Since we believe that homeschooling is one of the best models for educating children, we strive to equip homeschooling families with all the tools they need to educate their children. In the Exhibit Hall you will find countless teaching resources, curriculum guides and learning materials to assist you in your homeschooling journey. The many sessions and workshops will both edify and revitalize you. With so much to offer, Called to Teach promises a wonderful experience for everyone. We hope to educate you on the foundation upon which THSC was built—freedom. However, unprotected, the freedom we depend on to continue raising up our children can disappear in an instant. It is our ultimate goal to ensure that every family in Texas remains free to pursue homeschooling without the threat of oppression. At this very moment, lawmakers in the Texas Legislature are writing, revising, and considering bills which could affect our basic family rights and freedom to homeschool. Because of this and thanks to you, THSC already participating in those conversations in preparation for the coming session. Our goal is to ensure your liberty to raise up the next generation is never diminished. To learn more about your influence through THSC in the Texas Legislature, visit the THSC booth in the Exhibit Hall and ask how you can help secure our freedoms. Thank you for partnering with THSC in Keeping Texas Families Free. Enjoy the Convention! In your service and His,

PAM TEBOW

Ken Ham, originally from Australia, is the president and founder of Answers in Genesis and the highly acclaimed Creation Museum. He also oversaw the construction of the popular full-size Noah’s Ark in Kentucky. As one of the most sought-after Christian conference speakers and talk show guests, Ken is recognized worldwide as a strong voice for creationism and biblical truth. He became internationally known for his 2014 creation versus evolution debate with Bill Nye “the Science Guy,” which has been watched by an estimated 25 million people. A biblical apologist, Ken gives numerous faith-building talks to tens of thousands of children and adults each year on topics such as the reliability of the Bible, witnessing more effectively, dinosaurs, “races,” how compromise over biblical authority has undermined society and the church, and more. Ken is also a published author and popular radio host. He and his wife Mally reside in the Cincinnati area. They have five children and 16 grandchildren.

Pam Tebow, the mother of successful college and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is a homeschool pioneer along with her husband Bob. They began teaching their children at home in 1982, before the term homeschool was even coined. All five of their children were homeschooled from kindergarten through high school and each one received college scholarships. The Tebows lived for several years as missionaries in the Philippines, where Bob continues to have a ministry, the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association. Pam loves speaking to families across the country, having become more widely known since Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy. After ESPN aired Pam’s comments about refusing to abort “Timmy,” she has gained a national platform to spread the pro-life message. Pam passionately encourages women to trust the Lord and use the incredible influence God has given them to eternally impact their world. Additionally, THSC is proud to support the Tim Tebow bill in Texas, which would allow homeschoolers to participate in extracurricular activities offered at local schools.

By applying good character in their lives, they will be positive role models for the next generation. Chad and his wife Alissa founded In The Gap Inc. to stem the tide of negative influences pervading our culture and to lay a foundation of truth for the next generation. Their organization teaches character, facilitates after-school Bible clubs, and trains young adults to be world changers. Last year, In The Gap worked with over 6,000 inner-city children. She later became a homeschool mom, shaping her own family team of nine children by combining a mother's loving heart with the military principles of integrity, accountability, respect and responsiveness. Valerie and her husband Lee have homeschooled for over 26 years, teaming up to help her "feed God's sheep" as they mold their family for service. They work on-site with her SeniorFit fitness training program for 60 to 99-year old seniors and also support her as she educates expectant couples on natural childbirth. Valerie also serves as an adjunct professor, teaching business communication skills to female college students. Valerie is a nationally certified personal trainer and black belt martial artist who loves staying fit with her family. Valerie and Lee have graduated five of their children with four still in their nest. They love their close-knit family and their wonderful grandson.

Jennifer holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Dallas Baptist University, where she met her husband in 1986. She completed two years of graduate work at Southern Methodist University in the same field, before they began their family. 9:00 AM WORKSHOPS Ken Ham (Waterway 1-4) Why the 20's Generation Will Change the Church and Culture Statistical research shows that approximately two-thirds of young people in America are leaving the church by the time they reach college age—with very few returning. In this keynote session, Ken Ham looks at data published in the book "Already Gone" which shows that a lack of teaching foundational apologetics and biblical worldview in churches and Christian homes is a leading cause for this mass departure. He compares this data with new statistical research published in the book "Ready to Return," showing that the millennial generation is more secularized in their worldview than ever. Millennials who currently attend church are going to be the voice of the Church in the future, and we need to do something before we lose another generation. By taking a strong stand on biblical authority, rooting out compromise, and teaching apologetics, we can reclaim lost and coming generations for Christ. Rick Green (Waterway 5) With ALL Your MIND The Bible has always told us to think on those things which are noble and good and true, to let the weak say they are strong, that as a man thinketh so is he, and on and on … now,

neurological science is proving the Bible right once again as it reveals to us how God designed the brain to be renewed—literally rewired and retrained. When we intentionally, purposefully, consistently wash our thoughts with His Word and program our computer with His promises, the brain is literally remade … the old neurological connections are overridden with new ones and we truly replace the old man with what Paul called the new man. Learn how to practically replace bad habits, how to restore a joyful attitude, and how to instill your children with one of the most important life skills of all … renewing the mind! Becky Muldrow (Waterway 6) Create a 4-Year Plan For Your High School Student A detailed plan can pave the way for a smooth high school experience. Come listen as Becky walks you through the creation of a comprehensive four-year plan. You'll personalize what you learn and pencil in a plan that will motivate both you and your teen! Who am I? This lecture is a personal look at how we struggle with identity and how we can help others in this area.

Many people believe that the battle between Christianity and humanism (or creation and evolution) is a battle over who has more "facts." However, the real battle is actually over the interpretation of the same facts, based upon different presuppositions or biases. Until Christians understand that, they will not learn how to defend the Christian faith and think in a true biblical manner. After attending this session, your perspective may never be the same! Dara and Tracy raised two boys with genius IQ's and homeschooled them successfully! One of these children also had ADHD, dyslexia, and Asperger's syndrome. The other three boys were of average intelligence and successfully graduated despite their dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD and ADHD. Each is on a very unique path, but all are becoming the men that God created them to be. They have good self-esteem, are excited about life, and love and follow God. What more could a parent ask for?

Fact: 60-85% of all Christian teens abandon their faith by the 2nd year of college! * Heather's son came home from college today with a list of questions to ask his mom and dad. "I need you to answer these questions - but without mentioning God or quoting Scripture,” he said. “If you can't, I don't want to have anything more to do with your faith."

He wanted real world answers to the real world questions he was being challenged by. Are you equipped to prepare your children with the Biblical worldview training necessary to combat the ideas that are attacking them, before they are blindsided when they leave home?

It is vital that parents develop a biblical worldview along with our children, so that we can model it before them!

… our kids are watching us!

THE WOODLANDS SPECIAL BUDDIES PROGRAM INFORMATION The THSC Conventions are all about families and we want to ensure that every member of your family has the opportunity to participate. Special Buddies welcomes individuals age 3-99. We offer care in three different levels: medically fragile, sensory, and active and mobile. THSC has worked very closely with our Special Buddies director Misty Northcutt to present a program that we believe will be an incredible blessing to families who have loved ones with special needs. Special Buddies will provide two full days of Bible lessons, praise and worship, arts and crafts, and fellowship time. The Special Buddies will hear the word of God and be loved like Jesus loves all of us!

Meet Our Staff

Misty Northcutt directs a well-trained staff that is able to provide care for children with specialized needs. Misty’s certified nursing assistant certification and experience as a foster parent, caretaker and private school teacher in a special needs classroom has perfectly equipped her to serve as the Special Buddies program director. Sarah Chute has worked with the THSC Special Buddies program since 2010. Before her involvement in Special Buddies, she worked with the THSC Kids Convention for two years. Sarah and her husband now enjoy partnering together to help lead this amazing program.

SPECIAL BUDDIES PROGRAM

Misty Northcutt and her husband Justin Northcutt have been with the Special Buddies program almost since its conception. Misty, Justin and their two children have hearts as big as Texas for the special needs community. They are dedicated to providing excellent care for special needs children at Convention.
